My eyes hurt trying to read this...
Also, I'm not surprised Monk is the least played class. That 5.4 revamp can't come soon enough.
Whenever I run 24-man as MNK, I’ll always be the only mnk among 3 party.
And it is very satisfied when MT died, I appeared to be the one that got Aggroed.
Not those SAM or BLM.
Thanks for the chart, well done!
BRD confirmed my suspicions. Easily one of the most popular jobs in the past, now is played only by a few. Nobody wants to go through a convoluted mess of OGCDs, DoT timing and song management to pull off laughable damage.
What does it mean by population? People with specific job at lvl 80? People who regularly pick that job? I have almost all jobs at 80, but it doesn't mean i play and like all of them.
Why is everything that's not China or Korea lumped into International? Do we not have NA and EU specific data? Does international also include JP?
I am really surprised that Red Mage and Dancer are so low. Bard I’m not surprised. I see a revamp happening for them in 6.0 anyway. Summoner is high as they’re final fantasies staple and what they are known for.
Oh, because Japan, Europe and America use the same version. The Chinese and Korean versions are different. They are used to calling Japan, Europe and the Americas international.
What I find most interesting is that China and South Korea are consistently different from the International population, in particular they appear to be even more focused on picking the highest dps jobs within a role than international players are. E.g. Chinese and South Korean players are much more likely to play Paladin, White Mage, Summoner, (Black Mage to a lesser degree), Samurai and Machinist over other jobs within those roles. And likewise the opposite for international players who are more spread out across the jobs even though those 5 are still the clear favourites. The one weird outlier is Dark Knight in South Korea, so there's probably some cultural thing there that makes it super popular.
Oh and RDM is more popular than BLM in the international population. Huh.
I find this especially interesting, as well as BLM being less played than two ranged dps (MCH/DNC) in the international category means a lot, especially that for most, raw output is not the determinant factor on which job to play. Even more surprising is that there is more AST than SCH as well. I'm surprised for GNB being not that much of an interest as well, seeing how much I'm seeing around in EU. But maybe it's due to it's relatively new aspect.
Still while it's fine and funny data, I wonder which criteria are used for this. Is it lvl 80 jobs ? Jobs from peoples who have cleared a specific encounter ? Or just having the job unlocked is enough for appearing in the chart ? This would explain then the absurdly high amount of sam there seems to be. Because there isn't that much going around in the raid scene in europe
It looks like the picture isn't available. Does anyone have this to repost, or have a link to the source?

You can google search the image to find the chinese forum it came from where it was posted in a discussion about how double White Mage in the second round of Eden savage content is too common. Side note: Google translate translates White Mage from Chinese to English as White Devil which made me chuckle.
