I still don't know what they actually do. Like, does it have its own chat, is there fellowship related activities, do you get special buffs...
So far, all it managed to do for me is let me know about a femroe group on discord.
They're forgettable. I joined a few, though all of them quickly faded into obscurity...and based on what I've seen, a lot of the ones that are active are openly advertising services that are against the game's rules.
I think I got kicked out of one due to inactivity, either that or it disbanded. They're really not all that useful tbh.
I have yet to see what they are really used for. Some of them are for meeting people I suppose, but the numerous amounts of ERP ones I see each week is...uhhh....interesting.
They're message boards, no live chat, buffs or scheduling tools. The things I see them most used for are FC recruitment and RP connections in the same way that PF is used, but the posting lasts much longer and the poster doesn't need to stay online. They could conceivably be used for things like FC announcements, LS hunt scheduling announcements, etc. but discord does stuff like that better so people don't bother. I don't know how true it is, but I've heard that apparently the JP population uses them more than the NA/EU populations.
I would have preferred that the message board system from fellowships had been added to Free Companies and Linkshells.
Fellowships feel like something that would have been amazing in game like 15 years ago, but now with discords and reddit and twitter and everything else (not to mention the things already in game otherwise) there's just not much use for it.
I can appreciate the concept and the intention but it just doesn't seem like it was a good use of time and resources in the here and now.
I also appreciate the concept and the fact SE is striving to add new means of being social to the game, but as someone that manages two large fellowships, their functionality is stunted, the fact that recruitment closes and has to be reopened is really inconvenient and the message board doesn't really allow people to interact in ways that provide value. At least in relation to interactions that we're getting using discord instead. I'd be interested in seeing how these are doing in the JP community and if it's just a cultural thing, but for me, fellowships kinda died.
Thank you for adding new systems to the game though SE. Just wanted to provide honest feedback!
I honestly forget they existed. I tried using it one time but never did see the point of them since link shells exist and work just fine.
Fellowships are useful as advertising boards where you can post recruitment ads for FCs, Linkshells, Discords, and so on.
Other than that they are of very limited use. Any actual discussions are best done elsewhere.
I think they were a waste, honestly. The functions they have would have been much better if they were folded into Free Companies, and if they wanted to create non-FC social groups, they would have been much better to have looked at Blizzard's Communities that are able to span servers and games for their template.
We use them as a tool for the fc just to give more details such as a discord link and ridiculous polls
When they first came out I was excited about the possibility of a new way to connect with people but it didn't pan out. Maybe due somewhat to laziness on my part since they weren't designed with all the tools to do what I desired. At any rate, I gave up on using them for anything.
They are great for personal notes and reminders. Things to do on Tuesday, daily content, glamours to farm next and so on.
I had to think back what the heck Fellowship is then i remember it nothing i ever use.
They are a nice addition for FCs and lnkshells, to leave a message there when no one is online or using the poll to determine what content the people are interested in, but they can hardly stand on their own.
I wonder if they're one of those things that see way more use on the JP datacenters?
Because if you told me today that fellowships had been deleted 6 months ago, I'd have no reason not to believe you.
