Gardening needs too many button presses

When you want to plant something using a gamepad, it takes the following interactions:
1. D-pad left of right to focus the correct plot (possibly multiple presses)
2. A to select the plot
3. A to activate it
4. A to acknowledge that there's nothing in that plot
5. A to select "plant seeds"
6. A to open the soil menu
7. A to select the soil
8. D-pad right to focus the seed
9. A to open the seed menu
10. A to select the seed
11. D-pad down to focus the button row
12. D-pad left to move to the confirm button
13. A to confirm
14. D-pad left to move to the yes button
15. A to confirm again

Don't you think this could be streamlined a bit? In particular:
- The blurb about the empty plot is kinda useless, remove it
- Add a button to autofill soil and seed with the first option (useful when growing shards)
- Make it possible to confirm the dialog with the Y button
- Add an option to skip the extra confirmation

It's not much better with mouse controls either. There's a few less clicks needed, but on the other hand you have to aim at a lot of small buttons and hitting the right plot in the garden can sometimes be annoying.

I'm okey with the planting part. Watering/fertilizing is a pain when you have a medium and large house to take care of.

.... so just get a mouse and not use the gamepad?

Especially watering since there is NEVER a reason not to water all the plants. So a "Water all" option would be very welcome so we don't need to water them one by one.

The steps for watering combined with the randomness of wither/rot timers is the most frustrating part of gardening.

Dunno why we cant get a garden where that middle bit is a sprinkler. Would pay a LOT for auto-tending.

Just placing the status message that comes up when you first click on a bed on the menu would be a big help. I don't know if a variable message can be added to one, though.

Yet one more button to choose from (for the Autofill) won't do much good when we frequently have multiple seeds and soils in inventory.

The confirmation requirement should always be displayed for removing a crop. I wouldn't mind being rid of it when it comes to planting a new seed.

The wither timer isnt quite random. ff14gardening lists the timers for each seed, basicly its 24 hours to get to "seen better days"/purple stage and another 24 hours before it dies. Some seem to have twice that time before they die

I dont mind tending but tending 12-13 plots twice a day does get tedious i agree.
so tend_plot does seem like a lifesave, even fertelize plot i would use

It actually is, somewhat.

Thav Onions will go purple before their 24 hour period on a regular basis, and my last batch died well before the 36 hour mark (my timer said it was ~28 when I checked them).


Last year, for ~7 months, I kept detailed records of the date and time I planted crossbreed seeds, and both the purple and collection timers don't always match up, so either someone was fertilizing them without me knowing (on 6 different houses I have gardening privs for), or there's a variance of up to 10%.

My problem with figuring it out exactly is that I only know they're ready when I check them and they shouldn't be ready yet, I don't know exactly when they were ready.

I've had cloudsbreath crossbreed plots where the plants ALL go ready to collect at the same time despite me re-planting all 3 beds with tomatoes, then harvesting tea, then planting all the teas.

I don't quite understand how it works, but I know its not exact.
