Rescue griefing

Recently I encountered a group of people all from the same server and FC in an old 24-man I was doing as daily roulette. They kept gripping me out of the safe zones and into oneshot mechanics exactly as those mechanics went off, very deliberately as it would seem, only to ress the healer who sacrificed himself to do this. It happened several times during the instance.

This seems like a case where it would be impossible to prove the intentions of those players and I doubt it would fall within the duties or means of a moderator to confirm if people with extensive raid experience, including ultimates, did not understand ARR 24-man mechanics, just "misclicked" several times or if they were intentionally malignant.

This is the worst example of in game griefing I ever experienced in FFXIV during my four years in this game. I didn't really think it could be so easy to bully other players considering the super strict terms of service.

You're telling me some healer and his friends randomly targeted you for bullying with rescue for absolutely no reason and there are no chat logs at all you could use to report them?

Yes but it wasn't random or without reason since those people are in the same FC and closely associated with a group of people I once raided with.

What would chat logs prove? Unless you mean the specific battle log.

It happens I have been I n discord where some mates do just that and the avoid in game chat to minimize their chances of action being done by a GM.

It's definitely worth reporting.

GMs seem to have some ability to look into logged combat data, judging by their ability to track down all those folks in the wake of the Ungarmax debacle.

Report them. The dev's actually do take griefing in 24-mans pretty seriously.

I was in Copied Factory one time with a griefing tank (e.g. scooping up the little explodies and letting them blow up on his group in Hobbes, dropping precision guided missile on people in Engles, etc), and we had a chat log full of us asking him to stop multiple times and him ignoring it or making fun of us in response, which I'm sure helped prove that what he was doing was absolutely deliberate when a bunch of us reported him afterwards.

Generally GMs take action based on chat logs. For example, if you get bullied by randoms you can ask in chat for them to stop and then use those logs to report them if they don't. Ideally, they would respond and say something incriminating back to you. It's kind of a silly system honestly.

Yep, and since so many of us called him out it seemed like he got multiple reports, since the GM response mentioned just that.

The chat log can be a powerful tool when it comes to reporting people for harassment or griefing. In the future, if people do that to you, ask them to stop. If they keep doing it, explain that it's griefing, etc. If there's a chance of a language barrier, use the auto-translate thing to be like "{please stop} {Rescue}" or something. Make sure they know you don't want them doing it, and if they answer "lol no" then you have proof they know they're messing with you and won't stop, so that alone would be useful in a report.

I accidently pulled aggro on a boss in a 4-man once since 9/10 tanks just rush in and pull immediately and I didn't want to be several GCD behind and just waste more time as a result of waiting but the tank that time was actually waiting. As "payback" he then sprinted towards the next area only to suddenly halt and have me run in and get first aggro on the mobs, letting them kill me and saying "oops lag".

I didn't really feel bothered by that incident though since he wasn't an elitist player but rather an "offended casual" who probably thought I was an arrogant elitist after my aggro pull on the boss so I just didn't think about it more but I noted how easy it is to manipulate chat logs with innocent coverups. More ill willed players such as those I encountered in the 24-man would probably have known what to say and at the time I felt it best to wait since I don't trust my own temper in those situations.

They can't really "oops lag" multiple people Rescuing you into things. Especially if you tell them to stop and they continue to do it anyway. They can really only claim a misclick once as well, so it's important to point it out as it happens for the sake of the logs later. Communication is important, so if you just stay silent as they do it there won't be much evidence of it if you decide to report it later.

Anyone who's smart will say absolutely nothing, ignore you, and continue to do it.

That's basically what a lot of people in the DF already do (regarding any form of suboptimal play that they are given advice on), even the people who aren't trolling.

If it happens once and it wasn't intentional then I'll tend to let it slide, but if it keeps happening and only to me then yeah I'll report it because clearly there is some targeting going on for no reason. Never underestimate the combat log though cause even if players don't say anything in chat, GMs can see if "X used Rescue on Y" followed by " Y received 99999 amount of damage", and if it's there multiple times then clearly something is going on.

I've had this done to me during an Eden EX trial- the other healer kept rescuing me into Edens mechanics for fun- The 1st time they did it, I didn't get to say anything right away because I was able to save myself thanks to one of the tanks shielding me- He saw it too- but the other healer was in a group with other members there, including one of the tanks-- the second time the healer rescued me got me killed & you could tell it was deliberate- when I asked why they rescued me just to kill me, they said "bc why not?" I screened the chat, reported them but I doubt anything was made of it.

Anyway, I'll try to repost my reply the way I remember it:
I've had a similar experience. I was doing E3 NM (the Levi one), and the 2 healers were friends. I think they were either drunk or trolling. They were doing a bad job keeping people alive, and the one of them who got the stack mark kept running around, making everyone chase after them. Anyway, what annoyed me even more was when Levi did this thing where the center part of the arena collapses. I was on the right platform doing my best DPSing as hard as I could to get the painful run over with, but then a healer on the left platform decided to rescue me into the void in the middle. It was just stupid. We cleared eventually after many hiccups, but these 2 healers' antics resulted in unnecessary deaths and wipes and wasted everyone's time since it took us well over 30 minutes to clear a fight that probably usually takes 10 minutes or so.

They could easily claim that they were lagging or something, so it might be a bit difficult for you to prove to a GM that trolling was their goal here. Worth a try though. To me that is obvious trolling.

I like griefing my friends with rescue once in a while in dumb content, but doing that what randoms is really dumb and asking for a report ^^' I would report them if they did that to me twice
