In the past jobs received the old relics. I know they would have to make new models to include them, but they WERE included. I miss those days and wish Dancer and Gunbreaker were included. It sucks to feel left out.

I made a thread a few days ago under the Items, Synthesis, and Gathering section of the forums if you wanted to add your 2 cents there. There's apparently one going on Reddit as well, but I rarely visit that site.
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...or-GNB-and-DNC
But...yeah, it's a shame. I really hope that they address this.
a Thread exists with this same complaint but im not even mad this needs more coverage
GNB & DNC got snubbed hard and is the only time where you have a disadvantage for maining a job, all be it a trivial one but Glam is endgame
Yeah, this is one thing that makes me play DNC less. I can only excuse this if they're using this time/cost to make the missing genders. And we all "know" they won't add the missing genders so this it's very puzzling how little attention DNC and GNB are getting.
Can't be excluded if you were never included in the first place.
What’s so jarring is the fact that they actually added DNC and GNB weapons when they added the new Shinryu skins (which were new as well). Not adding them now feels bad.
Indeed, it wouldn't have been as odd if we hadn't gotten Shinryu weapons but DNC and GNB, but we did and it seemed like we would've gotten them for new releases... but we didn't.
Which is sad because the Tsukiyomi glow is very pretty and I would've liked to see what the DNC weapons would've looked like.
I’m still waiting if Shiva weapons for them.
If we don’t get ARR weapons then I can’t expect much else.
We have Shiva weapons for classes such as SAM and RDM though.
What's most baffling this time is they made the effort to add 3 full sets of Primal weapons (Tsuk/Suzaku/Seiryu) when one set per patch would have been fine and added a whole bunch of new gear items to the revamped ARR. It doesn't seem a problem of resources as much as poor choice of allocation for those resources.
Yoshi has confirmed before that the glowing primal weapon glamours are made by staff members in their own time for free. If these people weren't so dedicated, then no one would have them at all. Stop being so entitled.
I don't think people are meaning to be entitled here. It's a bit bizzare that, in SB, SAM and RDM were given the weapons the same time everyone else was and even had some retroactively added (like the ARR primals), then when GNB and DNC came out they added weapons to the SB dungeons and one set in pvp and... That's about it. Especially when they got the Shinryu crafted last time. I wonder if covid affected it because they didn't have the models?
Would be great if they would make this public knowledge. As someone who has watched nearly all the Live Letters I've never seen them state this. Must have been in some obscure interview.
If that's the case I'll give them a pass, doing these out of their own sense of duty and artistic prowess is highly commendable. Now, the question to be asked is; how is a service-product like this one not have a bigger staff? specially with how every expansion is doing better than the last. That, or they should do a survey asking us if we prefer for them to add new dungeon gear or if we prefer glowing primal weapons for all jobs? I honestly would not care if they re-used Shire gear for every Shb dungeon if we got a bunch of glowing primal weapons. I don't think that many people would miss not having the latest dungeon's gear in terms of glamour.
Yeah, I hate it. None of us are asking anyone to work for free, that's on SE/Yoshi. IF this is true, and they know this is something people are looking forward to every expansion and still won't set aside some time/funding for it that's abusing employee goodwill.
While it's very nice of them to do I really wish people would stop applauding it and trying to silence people, we don't get to decide where the sub/mogstation money goes. Pay your employees.
Its almost like stop playing the new races and jobs, because you'll get shafted on almost everything x)
it's even more embarrassing if you consider the following:
RDM/SAM got weapons for level 50+, as they started at level 50.
GNB/DNC did not receive all weapons for level 60, despite starting at that level. They lacked Alexander raid-tier weapons, and were given Sunburst weapons from Diadem at 5.0 launch. Then for level 70 they were not even given the full set of SB trial weapons, nor the full set of tome/raid tier weapons. There is nothing from the deltascape tier, raid/tome. Sigma only has the tome weapon for that tier, i.e. no Diamond Gunblade/Chakrams.
It's beyond insulting.
There’s a lot of bootlicking and shutting down of any constructive criticism on these forums, and it is very worrying how far SE is willing to let their employees fill in the missing gaps with the races and job weapon glamours on free time and their integrity alone. No one asking for new headpieces for the new races and GNB/DNC weapon glamours if it’s on the devs free time, it’s pretty foul to co-sign bad and immoral treatment of the many passionate devs who do this for free, which is shocking if you ask me.
You're right, but I do think that being customers gives us a right to express criticism so long as it is constructive. Our money does help keep the lights on though. My goal, in this thread and the one I made personally, is to help bring attention to the fact that I and some others are dissatisfied with part of their product. I'm not going to demand anything, but I will express my disappointment.
Customers are stakeholders in a company, specially in a subscribers-based service/product.
Their collective voice is as important as a CEO's.
On one hand, these are certainly just extras. Much like other weapons for DNC and GNB that were available at 70, and one that I question the community deserves. Would they be nice, yes.In face it would be nice to have a team hired specifically for making glamour gear for new jobs even before the starting level.
But I get the feeling that such a thing is not in the cards as the game has been around for a while now, with the likelihood of a new MMO or even a new FF title draining away resources and leaving the dev team a small skeleton crew as the years go by.
One things for sure. I'd alright with them giving DNC and GNB new toys (in fact I'd prefer complete weaponsets when possible and also want the battleliege PVP set to be available for the post HW jobs, and a also getting the new Yo-kai weapons), but I'd also understand if they decide that the fanbase doesn't deserve pre xpac level glam gear and cease to work on them. But then again my hopes weren't that high for such anyway since they set an expectation that jobs that start later would have less gear in general and have a different expectation from Canadane's (Namely that if they aren't adding weapons for the original trial, then I'm not expecting crafted versions either. I'm aware of Shinryu's exception).
(on a side note "Be careful what you wish for" seems like an appropriate answer to certain aspects such as BLU)
I have a bit of a feeling that they released a few sets of them for other jobs this patch so they could move on to Shadowbringers stuff, which GNB and DNC will most likely get because the work is already 75% done since the models exist already. I don't agree with how they are handling it, but I have a hunch that this might be their reasoning. Admittedly, I'd be fine with this if this was the case, because that would mean that new toys are indeed on the way. It might just be a little while. I'd say it's all but certain though once they start into the Shadowbringers sets. I didn't expect to get everything everyone else got from the beginning, but I still expected...more than they have given us, so it's still a bit of a bummer.
Let's call it what it is--laziness.
You're probably right, but I think the blame is misplaced. It seems more like a management and resources issues with what we know (namely that such items were made off the clock, on the devs own free time, which would be a premium considering the Covid-19 pandemic and the delay for the patch). In other world the executives and financiers likely didn't allocate the money and manpower for something like than this in an official capacity, and Some can argue that it extends beyond mere glowy weaponskins.
Dont think well see any crafted primal gear for Dnc and Gnb till 6.0. The current guess as to why we got Shinryu though is that its prolly a future Ultimate...
I'd rather have them to apply QoL fixes to the game than focusing on new content, more weapons for the newer jobs on older content and the Viera/Hrothgar headpiece and gender issues being the most glaring ones we haven't seen a lick of them addressing that.
Its also a matter of marketing. One has to assume that the suits assume that dungeons and raids (mostly the latter) are what sells subscriptions, and that QoL features and glamour pieces don't. Which is to say that they cannot dedicate even a single patch to QoL updates free of any new combat content.
Which is to say that to them, a patch could add Male Viera, Female Hrothgar, visible hats for them, the missing gear in sets for every class for every level (moslty weapons, but there's also the pre-starting level dungeon gear, the PVP battleiege sets and relics), more slots tot he glamour dresser, instanced housing, and single handily make Healers, MNK and BRD balanced as they could be without needing QoL fixes or being reduced to single button spam for DPS...and people would not sub for it because there isn't a new Expert roulette dungeon.
Put simply I don't think the marketing was meant to emphasize things of relevance to existing subs, but try to get newer ones in,and thus that means the devs have to make content to market in the first place.
Of course I could be misinterpreting your comment based off some of the responces in that "hypothetical non-progression xpac" thread
They've actually addressed both these things, some 5-ish months ago they said that they knew the Viera/Hrothgar situation wasn't ideal and they were working towards alleviating the issues and making things better in the future. Now what that means concretely remains to be seen, but they've addressed it.
Male Viera and female Hrothgar they addressed shortly after launch (or shortly after the announcement of the races? I can't remember.) and I assume nothing's changed on their stance on that so far so there's nothing more to say.
But if by addressing it you mean actually adding these things then yeah, crickets.
I don't expect them to make weapons for jobs below the level which they start at. But not having weapons for levels 60-70 is extremely disappointing. It feels like the weapons are just missing and forgotten, like there is something blatantly unfinished in the game.
SAM and RDM started with weapons from Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, Shiva, Ramuh, Leviathan, King Moggle Mog, Final Coil, PotD, all 50 & 60 tomestone weapons, all 3 tiers of Alexander and every single trial weapon from Heavensward at launch of SB. Now you may argue that GNB and DNC didn't get any ARR weapons since they start at 60 but they didn't even get any lvl 60 weapons besides PotD and Shire, it's frankly ridiculous. They still don't even have a weapon for UCoB or UWU.
Disappointed at the lack of Grand Company weapons for them as well.
Oh yeah, completely forgot the GC weapons as well.
