yeah now that we can fly in the area they would need to make it an instance or something... probably not worth the trouble
They could have made the island a no-fly zone... I mean the ARR flying is so limited anyway walling off a small island would have been no trouble
they disable the use of mount's around the tower last time around guess its to tricky with flying :(
But the real reason is that they used all of the wood for Ishgard restoration
They probably need to figure out how to work around flying. Would probably be simpler to just give it its own little instance like they did with All Saints' Wake and the like.
They would have to sacrifice another dungeon for such expanded content like climbing puzzle tower. Please understand.
Understanding the jump puzzle vs flying situation, I can only hope they have figured a way around it for next summer but
Im also a little bummed about the fact that there isnt the fishing and culinarian aspect of the event this year, it was always a wholesome thing just, everyone fishing together and people crafting the food and handing it out to people. :S the event kinda just is "do the fate twice for all the glams and then you're done" like, no point in staying around right now. Shame.
I looked for it today as well, It would have provided me with a few days of gameplay. Instead, I just did my usual pixie and hunt stuff, then logged off.
yeah this event sucks, I was looking forward to having another go at the jumping tower, instead I get this stupid event where I have to dance to get a bombard to kill a shark which the warrior of light is mroe than capable to taking on herself, she's takenn down enemies that would eat that shark for breakfast. I wasn't asking for much, only to put something in they'd already put in the game before. instead we get this farce.
We've fought a shark that looks *just* like that one, before.
No tower. No fish stick quest.

They could just put it up with flying. Since there's no achievement, then flying doesn't really give an advantage over others.
It would be a time saver though, in that if you fall, you could just fly back up to the last spot you were on instead of repeating the whole lower section again.
While we can fly now, does it really matter? There was never an in game achievement for reaching the top.
Would people use flying now to reach the top of the tower? Ya, of course.. but.. who cares? There will be other who do it all without flying for personal achievement.
I just don't see the purpose of removing it from people who wanted to attempt it all because people can fly now.
To add, without the tower who's actually spending more than two FATEs worth of time in Costa for the Faire this year??
I was looking forward to people trying to fly up the tower, hitting the no-mount zone, and plummeting to the ground. Oh well.
There are a lot of places in ARR areas that are coded with some kind of "cannot land here" flag that you can jump onto, but aren't able to touch down on despite there being ample space to do so.
They could easily just implement the tower with such a restriction in place.
It's not here because it's not part of the theme, last two had jumping puzzle as part of the theme. This year Moonfire returns more to original Bomb theme so natural that the jumping puzzle wouldn't appear.
That's a pretty flimsy excuse. If they gave us the same amount of stuff to do or possibly more (i wouldn't expect that though right now), sure whatever; but they actively took something away for players to do that was already in the game. Taking away things for players to do should never be the plan for an event.
Even if i was never big into the tower climb, it always had people participating in it and i think it was beyond stupid to reduce the activities down to just a FATE where we dance at a thing and then dodge an AoE (A FATE in which you only have to participate in twice, total, to get all of the event rewards).
