Open servers and patch early request

If there's one thing I remember before quitting this game 4 years ago, Had to be the down times during these patches...

24 hours? I remember once it lasted days.

This will not happen because of the weekly-reset on tuesday. People who can play early would be able to get 2 gear pieces and upgrade items from the new 24 man raid this week, wich would give them an unfair advantage.

The rate at which you're posting is very reminiscent of a certain poster here. I get the feeling this is TitanMen.

They're probably also collecting data for the yearly FFXIV census thing they do showing things like job usage, GC distribution, etc. I really want to see how everyone is a PLD now.

My 1st and only account, I am a 43 year old gamer that has just returned.
The gossip here is kind of edgy.

They may open the servers a little early, but it won't be before the daily reset. Otherwise some people would get two pieces of gear for the week and SE won't do that.

What do you mean? Daily reset it is at 8:00 am PDT and not 3:00 am PDT. The servers will be up before the daily reset and you can get ahead of the dwarf quests if you do them before daily reset as well as get 'today's' tomes. If you meant weekly reset, that makes more sense.

Guess I just dont get why it would be an unfair advantage...
I mean... This game really isnt really competitive so this "advantage" is more or less meaningless i think...
(outside of maybe Savage or pvp... But Savage Has long Been cleared and in pvp youre synced anyway)

I mean, dont get me wrong, I guess I kinda understand where SE is coming from when they decide to Not open Servers before reset. (especially for Patches where New Savage content is Released, so that everyone can Start equally)
But there is already ilvl 500 gear for people that raid.
And there isnt really an advantage to get ilvl 500er gear for any other content ATM i would guess :<

For me its like saying its unfair that some people will Do 6 dwarven beasttribe quests tomorrow where others just can Do 3 because there come home late because of work etc and cant Do it before daily reset. : o

I meant weekly reset. It was a typo.

Welcome back, hope you enjoy the game again, you were one of the main supporters when the game relaunched as A Realm Reborn so it's always good to see people like that return.

A lot of people don't do savage. And SE never opens the servers before weekly reset regardless if it's for a new patch with a new savage tier, or a "catch-up" patch like this one.

I know they never do it.
I am playing for a long time now (since beginning of arr).

But it Was about the "advantage" Part.
There isnt any on a catch up Patch i would think.

Anyone serious about gear upgrades doesn't need to do Neir for those coins. They can spam A train hunts all week long for nuts which will give the same upgrades. There is no weekly cap on nuts and the A trains will most likely have 2 additional instances of Lakeland due to beast tribes. That means 540 nuts per train.

I didn't say that? I was just simply stating that SE never opens servers earlier than the weekly reset for any of the patches they do.

Yea I get that. It doesn't bother me either. It's probably just a consistency thing on their part. They just do that for all the major patches.

Yeah so far over the past month I have gone through stormblood, finished shadowbringers which was epic.
Got my main glad/pld to max lvl as well as a few others, been working on a ton of in game stuff.
For me it was a breath of fresh air to come back to FF14 but shadowbringers blew me away.

Also bought a bunch of stuff on the shop before they went on sale :( It's alright though, Enjoying the game I quit so long ago.
Old friends, FC's all gone but seems the community is active. Perhaps I will go back to Midgardsormr.

I've been at ivl 500 since several months ago, so have thousands of other players.

Actually, thanks to time zones this is exactly what I did.
And what do you mean "unfair advantage?"
Like... against the bosses? Gearing up isn't a race (unless you're doing worlds first clears maybe but there aren't any right now).
Especially since the alliance raids never give the top gear at the time there really isn't anything "unfair" about it. People will have plenty of time to collect them.

No, you didn't. The only thing you could do is do things tied to daily reset twice on patch day: beast tribes, GC deliveries, etc. Patch wasn't up before weekly reset time on any timezone.
