Has SE basically dropped any furter progress with GC's?

I've been fooling around with my squadron for a while, but after I became captain there's not much fun with it anymore. I buy the odd stuff, and Ventures, Ventures, and more Ventures, with the green stuff that drops from quick explorations (whenever I need it), but other than that, nothing. Kind of sad, it was somewhat fun to take the squadron out on missions and I seriously got heartbroken when I fired a member the other day. :)

It took us a long time to get the Captain rank.
The next step up is going to have you what, do administrative paperwork?

I'm sure it'll come along eventually but I don't see us getting it soon, you know?

The ranks tend to be slow to roll out. I presume its because we know exactly. how many there are. As such I predict that the final rank will arrive only at the original end of the game (as in the intended last expansion bar surprised continuations).

Another factor is the likleyhood of future ranks being tied to Squadrons, which I don't think got an update since Stormblood and seems to be neglected in favor of trusts.

To be fair, its kind of hard to tie GC rank into anything when you are on a whole different world. I'd expect them to start back up with 6.0, when we are back to doing stuff on the source.

I think that first they're trying to think of what they could DO with them.
Like, it needs to be worthwhile or why add it, but it's also gonna be coming at the end of a pretty significant grind for anyone who's not already at the current max rank, so they can't make it TOO important to have.

Or just implement a medals system instead of more ranks. Start adding medals as you level up your Squadron and GC.
Next step to get more medals in my opinion would be to add more achievements tied to them involving Fates and field monsters (like the Hunting log).

The Grand Companies have had minimal involvement in the story since ARR and still only have gear up to level 50 (and even that's horribly outclassed by Ironworks gear). Make 'em relevant again.

Problem is, that again all the known rank upgrades are public knowledge, complete with icons and titles (the highest of these uninplimented ones being Champion),and SE hasen't done anything to remove such knowledge from the game

Aren't the Grand Companies + Foreign Alliances all currently engaged w/ Garlemald?

I'd really like an update so I could play with my Squadron up to level 70 then transition into the bad time that is Trusts.

I feel like the Resistance stuff would dovetail nicely with squadrons, given that (as noted) all the Grand Companies are currently sort of tied up in this whole fight with Garlemald.

The only thing GCs need to have is military glam. Glam really is the true endgame.

Honestly, yes. That and access to level 70 Dungeons with your squadron or above if it makes sense.

SE updates the GCs actually almost always at the end of every expansion with new ranks etc. so just have a bit patience, i think it will come along with the aftermath story of ShB.

I'd be happy just having more dungeons to run with them. That gap between 60 -70 where all you have is HoH for levelling could be addressed with a few new dungeons for squads.
I like the Trust system and I'm glad it's in the game, but even if they don't want to keep working on the squads indefinitely, it would be nice if the Squadron could end where the Trust system starts.

I wish SE would create something along the terms of TERA's alliance system. This would work well with the 3 GC's we have and TERA also had 3. They could create a huge map with 3 different camps for the GC's. The camps would have of course Quests dealing with Gathering/Crafting/PvP and mob killing etc. Then you have honor shops. The only problem would be them implementing a map that has both PvE/PvP.

I've always said that GC related stuff has the potential to be its own world. In my wishlist, squadrons go a step further. Squadmates could come with a new level of depth that is not seen in the main game like drgs dealing extra dmg to dragon types or plds and whm dealing extra dmg to voidsents. Stuff like this would make us consider carefully who to bring on a squadron mission. Instead of just sending them out to complete missions, you can go with them.

Similar to the Hildy quests, GC would also have its own quest line too. It would have a main story quest for GC in general and they would be different depending on which alliance you're in. Some squad members would have new recruit requirements and they would come in different graded ranks (from D to S rank). New methods to obtain could be gathering a specific type mat or clearing a specific trial.

And then finally, GC perks would help with pvp stuff. Being a certain rank can grant you certain buffs like filling up your adrenaline faster or give a morale boost to other party members who are of a rank lower than you. If you dont want combat boost, you could always pick getting other boosts like gaining more seals or marks.

Naturally, all of these ideas are things I'm sure SE can't actually dedicate their resources to on a regular basis but that's how deep I wish GC was sometimes.

Ghimlyt dark provide combat uniforms, but not really dress uniforms. Some rank epaulettes, medal ribbons and insignia can go a long way.
