Is it against TOS to use this tool?

Saw this from one live stream (Light DC), is it ok to use this tool for zooming (don't know how it's called)?

Also I wonder what is bottom line? GM just don't seem to act at all unless people using it turn themselves in?

Using hack on live stream is very bad imo

Zoomhacks are technically forbidden by the ToS.

Then we're already two. I'm not seeing any kind of "zooming" tool in that image.

Any third party tools are technically against the ToS. Whether or not SE will actually come down on them depends wildly based on their application.

All third party tools/mods/addons/etc are forbidden by the TOS.

If you use such a thing, it's advised that you keep it quiet and don't show off anywhere it can be connected to your character name. The usual example is parsing: SE doesn't scan your computer, you 'can' parse for self improvement and they'll never know, but it is against the tos and if you use parsing data to, for example, harass someone in game about low performance, SE will know you used it and broke the TOS, and can action your account both for the tool and for harassment.

Well no, it's not ok to use.

All third party tools are against the ToS.

As far as I'm aware damage parsers are the only third party tool where SE acknowledged their use and stated they won't actively hunt down people who use them. They will, however, punish you if they become aware you're using one; so if you are then keep it to yourself.

That's what's official. Unofficially there's really not anything SE can do about you using third party programs that don't provide visible evidence. Bots, for instance, are noticeable, but I'm guessing a zoom tool wouldn't be. If you're just quiet about it you'll probably be fine.

No its not. Even Yoshi stated this in many of hte Live letters. If a GM catches and what not, they are there to enforce the rules. You definitely want to keep it to yourself about third party tool usage.

As from the Zoom thing, it increases the fieldview range beyond what is allowed in the game. While its not hurting in raids, its a huge advantage in PvP scenarios so yes this could get you banned if you talked about it in game.

Looks like it lets you zoom out further than normal.

I don't think there are any zoom hacks involved. Probably player positioning and 3rd camera angle.

when you stand closer to the edge you can almost see the entire arena.
The father you are from center the more you will see.

You can see it here when the DNC goes to the edge to kite.
If they had the camera slightly vertical in the video, I think it would look similar to the picture you posted.

This is defiantly a zoom hack.

The Golden Bahamut picture really makes it obvious that it's a zoom hack. You cannot see the entire arena from one angle unless you're at the edge, and in that image, the player is definitely not on the edge. AFAIK zoom hacks fall under the same clause as parsers, but are generally seen down upon when compared to parsers, because of how much of an advantage they give.

Any tool, app, or mod, that alters the game in any way is against the TOS, get the mod pack to alter fashion and looks, against TOS, get a Zoom tool, against TOS, there is a grey area with tracking tools used by raiders, which SE looks the other way with, but remains against the TOS.

Basically, SE can close your account if caught, however, I hardly ever hear of them cracking down too hard on anything other than Bots, and gold sellers. Also, they don't police Youtube videos.

If they find out, they can and will take action against the user of a zoom tool, just like any other mod that changes the game, including combat logs.

They've also acknowledged ReShade/GShade/etc. as being used before. And they've said that while they prefer to be able to pretend not to see it, they also don't particularly care to enforce that one; it's still technically against TOS—as is any external tool—but gives no real advantage as opposed to just making the game pretty. The one thing they've openly asked is that if you're using ReShade-like post processing or shader injection to please not stick the Square-Enix copyright notice watermark on the bottom like normal in-game screenshots have, as they'd prefer shader-injected/post-processed stuff not be mistaken for the stock game.

I mean, that one's a weird case to start with, though; Nvidia now has a version of ReShade (literally ReShade, not just "something like ReShade") embedded in their GeForce drivers now anyway as "Freestyle", and last I checked Square-Enix let FFXIV be added to the supported games list for Freestyle on the Nvidia website. So it's clear their objections there are minor at most; even if the ReShade family of tools were actively cracked down on for some reason, anyone using a ReShade derivative could just copy their ReShade stuff over into Nvidia's version which SE has evidently officially sanctioned.

Well, it would be trivial for Square to detect you're using it - just check the FOV and max zoom values in memory now and then, and if they're different from the defaults, ban. No need to scan for the tool running, as it literally changes values in memory, which is technically a form of hacking.
That said, I think Square should just give us a FOV slider and allow slightly farther zoom. Even competitive FPS games like Overwatch and Halo let people select what is comfortable for them. I don't see people with 100 FOV having an advantage over people with 70 FOV in PVP, it's all a matter of what is comfortable for you. You can also always track enemies on the minimap. I also haven't heard of anyone advocating zoom hack's use to gain an edge.
I don't play PVP, for me it's all about comfort. The default FOV is too small and I can't see as much of the world as I'm used to. It makes it easier to also see all the cool boss animations when you're right up their butt, too.
