Dancer saved my sub

As of yesterday, I was completely checked out of the game and about to let my sub expire. I logged in one last time and thought 'huh, I've never tried dancer (hell, I often forget that dancer exists), but I liked the job in FFT, so what the heck?'

Man... I was playing the wrong classes all this time. What a fun, FUN job this is. It's so incredibly mobile - you're flitting in and out of melee range like a humming bird. And the group utility? (the heal, the buffs, the ability to pair with another DPS and buff the living daylights out of them). In a word: awesome.

I know that some people prescribe to idea that FFVIX should be played little bursts or spurts - renewing around a patch - but I just cannot attack an MMORPG like that. I am either all in, or all out. And when I am out, I tend to walk away for a year or more before returning. I was THIS close to doing it today. And now I'm not... because of a class I kept overlooking. Like a fool.

Dancer is that good yes. I've often found myself not using dancer on purpose because of how addictive it is. If I didn't hold myself back every duty would be a dancer duty haha.

I really do hope they follow this thematic gameplay design. It's the job with the strongest "we designed the gameplay around the job theme." And overall it's just fun, that delayed preparation for the ultimate plan kind of gameplay is just grand.
Good to see that something like this can motivate people, it's a lesson to the devs that everything matters and everything deserves the same amount of quality.

Well, the awesomeness that is Dancer should be known to all. Also getting your Dancer Glamour correct is a full game in of itself.

This is a very nice look. Its hard to find good DNC glams that arent overdone.
If I see the Thavnairian Bustier again on another DNC (or anyone really) it will be too soon....

Dancer certainly isn't my main, but it's very fun. Pretty much my "turn off my brain and just have fun" option.

I found it very boring to play. It's ok.

i have a very strong hate for FFXIV Dancer, ot was so boring and disappointing to me from its other game

Lot of tanks. I took GNB and PLD to 80, as well as SAM. I had been playing a Red Mage, but I felt like it was too reliant on the caster part, while the melee seems tacked on.

I will say this one negative thing about dancer: the lack of weapons is appalling. GNB (and Blue Mage?) has this problem, too. I cannot fathom why SE didn't - in the least - go back and add Primal craftable weapons for these jobs.

A bit off topic: I finally got RDM to 80 and after playing with it for so long it felt as if the melee should have been the main form of attack to charge the black/white mana to use for the more powerful spells instead of how it is now.

Enfeebling isn't a thing in this game sadly, so the core mechanic of that job had to be changed to fit the dynamics of FFXIV.

I like the dash movement that the dancer uses. that's kinda cool.

You flip a coin, you flip another coin, if the coin landed right you flip yet another coin. Continue this for a bit. Go back to step 1.

I'm currently leveling dancer and I found it very addictive too, to the point that I've been doing extra content just for the joy of playing it. Really enjoying this class.

Isnt it awesome when you find a job the re-engages the fun back again. If you havent tried the MCH job , as you clearly love the dancers for its flare, do give it a go. The animations are very OTT/flamboyant for a job thats simply shooting from a rifle and the damage is decent to especially when you get you 60- 70s skills.

I have a... I want to say 74 machinist? It's a little less mobile than I was looking for. I also wasn't wild about how the rotations were set up. It wasn't horrible - I can understand the appeal, definitely - but MCH isn't my cup of tea. Like, a good measuring stick for me is how well I do in PvP with a class... and I didn't do nearly as well as MCH as I do dancer (for whatever reason).

I'll be honest - I think it didn't help matters much when 95% of the game's guns look ridiculous, with a few (totally outstanding) exceptions. The inevitable result is that almost everyone is using the same 3-4 arms, which gets a little boring.

See, but from my perspective, because it's not all that complicated a rotation, I can focus more on actually watching fights unfold, general positioning, or (in the case of PvP) not getting my rear handed to me. I'm happiest in an MMORPG when I am constantly on the move - even unnecessarily. I want all frenetic actions to be associated with mobility and not rotation.

Obviously, not everyone feels this way, but bliss for me isn't constantly mashing 16 buttons in absolutely rigid succession - where one mistake blows the entire effort. It's gliding like an angry little fairy across the battlefield, leaving a trail of carefree destruction.

Also, the fan attack sounds really amazing. It's just one of those audio effects like steel boots clanking on a metal bridge or hooves on cobblestones that I want to listen to all the time.

That's perfectly understandable.
All in all, basically why i dislike dancer is the RNG aspect of the job.

I am a huge fan of machinist for pretty much same reasons, tho. There's no RNG involved whatsoever. It may be not as mobile, but still you are free where and when you can move.
It has somewhat simple rotation of 1-2-3, mixed with your 2 OGCDs. Drill/Air Anchor is off the cooldown? Smash that button, preferably with a guaranteed crit proc when it's available. Then there's your hot blast spam mixed in, and that's more or less it.

When I first seen it I was afraid it'd be way to feminum for my liking, like I would be riding on the back of a cartoon unicorn spitting out rainbows while screaming girl power.

But after I lvld it to 80 I decided it wasn't as bad as I thought, but still I'd say it's geared towards females, and the only complaint I had was it felt like it didn't deal to much damage, but I'm no dnc pro and I know I have more to learn on that job, but all in all I enjoyed lvln dnc.

And that's fine too. It's why Ranged has 3 choices of Jobs. Dancer for those who love chaos and pretty pretty colors flying everywhere. Bard is in the middle, and Machinist is rigid and orderly.

In fact if you look, each role has the random chaos job and the strict no RNG job. I love BLM and Dancer a ton. Red Mage is also fun, and I like Bard, but Machinist was painful for me to level. Ironically, I'm loving leveling Ninja, but Samurai is meh so far.

Yeah, dancer is a lot of fun. Was BRD main from HW up until I tried DNC :P

Now we just need more primal weapons to try out and I'll be set

DNC uses a skill priority instead of a defined rotation which is why I like it so much. But even more importantly they got the RNG balance right unlike Stormblood MCH. Like Tera I love the high mobility.

The guns do look far too bland across the MCH arsenal. My gun has a glamour on it ive used since i got it. I love the big fat gun look it has :)

Dancer is a lot of fun. I'm not at all compatible with proc based classes though. As a result, it was a lot of fun to level, less to play at cap.

Just because a person accepts that you want to do things your way, doesn't mean - by extension - they must mirror those actions. There's an enormous difference between respecting how a person is, and being forced to mirror that.
