Stop selling our accounts RMT

I'm tired of getting bothered by players who don't how to stealing used accounts including me. Mogstation deal is $25, but your responsible knowing bought accounts are stolen. Report who scammed you, not the account owner who is innocent. Stop lagging me. Account buyers support gil sellers. Have a great day.

I don't even understand who you're attempting to rant against.

Are you trying to accuse Mog Station of being RMT, or do you think that shouting into the void will somehow stop RMT bots from hassling you, or what?

I thought I understood that someone blamed him because his account got stolen by RMTs bots or... someone reported him thinking he was RMT...

But I don't get the Mog Station being mentioned.

I wonder if it might have something to do with Tale of Adventure($25 on Mogstation after all)...but aside from that, the sentences are definitely not complete enough to understand the whole gist of what is being said.

Maybe this is why people want to get back to work and or socialize. It appears to have a lasting effect on the sanity of some people.

I think he's trying to say you could buy the tale of adventure instead of buying a stolen account?

It kinda sounds like maybe his account was stolen, and he got it back, and the person who bought his stolen account is harassing him?

From the sounds of things, maybe he got hacked and they used his account to sell Gil/sell the account itself, and when it got recovered, he started getting tells from people wanting their money back?

ah yes, I understand many of these words. Their positions and usage are alien to me, but I recognize the words.

The account is a victim, not the mastermind. They steal the account login then use that character to send more messages and trick others. It'll be a different person's name attached to the message every time you see it.

The last person determined to prove their point and name-and-shame the sender got their post deleted too.

I know both the OP and the victim on this page. OP is in my FC. The other is a PvPer. I will be checking up on the OP to make sure everything is fine.

One: you need to remove that link immediately.

Two: Doesn't matter. Naming and shaming can still get you suspended. The person is most likely a victim and not a cause.

I got one of those messages today. Looked up the name of the person who sent it on the lodestone. Three identical midlander females across all three NA data centers, all level 29 Gladiators. Heh.

Now take a look at the URL above. see the -eg.xyz in it? That is not an official SE domain. The page looks exactly like SE's but it is not. Can be mistaken by someone who is not paying attention.

Someone tried that BS on me today. There have been a lot of warnings here on the forums too. I noticed that fake website right away. Hopefully the message will keep getting around and we'll see much less people falling for that crap.

I think your first guess is the more logical one considering what he is trying to say.

I know many of us warned people previously on this stuff, but it does not hurt to tell FCs, friends, LS, discords, and NN one more time about this kind of stuff and then every so often (like for new people).

Best to put things simply.

There are a couple of different scams going around in shouts and tells right now. The "SE is doing a bad thing, follow this link to the forums to complain" phishing scam and the "I can sell you a game item code for half the Mogstation price" RMT scam.

Compromised accounts are being used to spread those scams. The real owner of the account is not the one doing it - they are as much a victim as the players who fall for the scams.

Don't send nasty tells to the real owner once they get their account back because you were dumb enough to fall for a too good to be true scam. They aren't at fault.

Be smart and report it to the GMs in the first place. You protect yourself. You alert the GMs so they know there's an account that needs to be suspended and others are less likely to fall victim to the scam.

Selling off all those compromised accounts would be a fairly practical way for those phishers to get additional profits after they've stripped them of their gil.

They know people are likely to contact a GM for assistance in retrieving it, so they could simply sell the account at a much lower price then the norm to get it to sell quickly before the original owner can reclaim it.
