I hope they are wooden shacks in the Sea of Clouds, I always wanted a place there and wooden shacks look cool, almost cool enough to were if I could sustain it I'd live in one IRL.

in my view an ishgardian apartments/housing would be like those high building with window, you know the one in the cg trailer/opening where our derplander going to change his class to DRG.
at least considering their place and such, a high tall building seems more appropriate for them
Unfortunately, it going to be exactly like the others. Just some big building in the ward that has a door that leads to the individual rooms or the lobby.
They aren't going to have the apartment building in a completely different location and style to the rest of the ward, though.
I do wish they'd expand on apartments. Rather, I wish they'd let us expand the apartments. Would really be nice if we could make our apartments more than one room. I don't mind if it's like a gil sink where you gotta spend money to expand your apartment, I just want more than one room.
Optionally with the ability to add a balcony.
I do agree that it would be nice if apartments existed that were more varied and not necessarily tied to Housing areas. That alone would make apartments feel less like the housing overflow that they basically are now and more like their own thing that would potentially interest even players who do have houses.
Oh, and the Ishgard apartments should just be dingy windowless rooms in the back of the church.
I can't stand Azys Lla, or Allagan designs in general. Somehow Syrcus Tower escaped it but everything else is so clashing and awful.
Playing FF3 recently (or at least the DS version), the original Labyrinth of the Ancients doesn't have any of the technicolor Allagan bits, just the brown stone and lava. It definitely needed some kind of prettying up, but the green and purple are terrible.
I enjoyed the Allagan aesthetic...at least for the gear, furniture and Robot nodes. But I was ribbing on Azys specifically because it felt more like a floating wasteland or a post apocalyptic version of the Sea of Clouds, and both descriptions are not the epitome of beauty to put it mildly.
Azys Lla is one of my favourite zones to this very day. I think it's incredible to look at and explore.
The sci-fi/futuristic aesthetics of certain aspects of the game are a both a staple of many previous Final Fantasy games and a key part of FFXIV itself.
I love some Allagan designs. The Twinning = <3 for one, albeit that's modified Allagan stuff, and Syrcus Tower in general. Or the Ocular in the Crystal Tower, which I frankly want to rip the flooring up from and take back to my house. (I'm sure the Exarch won't mind, right?)
I love pretty much all of the music that uses the Allagan leitmotifs. Syrcus Tower, the Twinning (BEST MUSIC), Fractal Continuum... even Azys Lla.
But you aren't wrong that some of it is just aesthetically... yikes. Labyrinth of the Ancients being a big one.
