Sometimes, especially on mobile the newest post you made doesn't show up. Try logging out then logging back in. Otherwise just wait a bit.
Short answer is that they actually do in some cases--some of my posts have been deleted or merged with other posts. Depends on the content. Some controversial issues sometimes get the snip. But honestly just give a bit to see if it shows up.
Well, you weren't exactly polite in your request.
Yes, the mods will delete posts every so often. You can see it show up in hot topic threads that get derailed by tangential commentary. You wont be notified either if it happens.
I checked your post history. Your monk thing is definitely deleted.
They do it all the time. Nothing to really be surprised about.I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets deleted.
They'll delete this post but not the one of the guy who literally wants all healers to die just because one used rescue on him to pull more.
This. The mods on these forums tend to favor the people who report, rather than actually looking into the situation in full. I still remember awhile back when a rather vile topic was posted and instead of giving a ban to the OP, they temp- banned the people who posted anything mildly mean and or off-topic that upset said OP. A good swath of the forum was temp-banned for two weeks and the offending topic only went down a few days later after people finally started reporting it. Course that whole thing was another kettle of fish and many of the off-topic temp-bans were in retrospect justified, I was one of them, but the point is that the pattern for mods on this forum is pretty cute in dry. Did someone report a topic or post? Then we'll look into it. A topic is getting wildly out of hand but no one reported it? We're not going to be proactive or step in to try to tell people to follow the rules.
Have you receive an email? I've had a post removed and got an elaborate email warning me and saying which guidelines I've violated + repercussions when I violate again.
I don't remember how you worded it but that MNK aura thread seemed innocent to me, wonder why they'd remove that. Unreasonable post removal would really put these forums in a bad light imo, considering it would be accompanied by next to no mod or dev interaction and no communication in general. Silent removals and no communication is no good for a community medium I'd say.
I'm pretty sure there was a swear word in there, possibly partially blocked out by asterisks. I vaguely remember him referring to the game devs as that swear word or describing the graphic effect he wants removed using it. Whatever it was, if someone reported it then it just needs to meet a bare minimum of something against ToS to be removed. If it was just a post later in the thread then only that post would have been deleted. Because it was the original post, the entire thread has to be deleted because having a thread without an original post doesn't work.
This is not some grand conspiracy where SE is unreasonably deleting posts.
I imagine being overly and even rudely critical of the development team is grounds for a post being deleted, they are still people. It's all customer service, and I know first hand that customer service reps can be seen as less than human in the eyes of their customers.
Also there's a little envelope thing next to the thread title that displays how many posts were deleted. It wont tell you by who of course. I thought that was neat when I hovered over it and saw that lol.
Ok? Good for you?

Yeah it's gone.
Rescue isn't a pointless skill. It's a very useful skill - especially in PvP where it proves invaluable at rescuing a player who is trapped in the middle of a group of enemies. It has plenty of uses in PvE as well, of course. A tiny minority of players abusing the skill does not mean it needs to be removed from the game. Though given how a portion of the FFXIV community operates, I'm not surprised that small, rare inconveniences are considered to be worthy of disproportionate retribution.
More relevant to this topic itself, I'm in the camp where I'd like more direct engagement from our community representatives as well as deleted posts being accompanied by a message for everybody to see that shows why it was deleted. In the case of those deleted by a moderator, at any rate.
Pretty much. I got sastasha on an alt last night as gladiator. The healer let me die 5 times. FIVE. They had enough time to annoy people with rescue and spam stone 2 though, and swift ast raise me after each death.
My favorite was dying to 2 trash mobs......
I asked them to heal more and they replied with "nah" so I guess this means we need to remove healer dps abilities, according to some people.
You literally can't win. If you are DPSing as a healer you get told off. If you don't DPS you get told off.
I get told all the time I'm "not doing your job"... no I'm just not trying to overheal.. They don't see that cure cast as a whm you aren't healing, apparently.
It feels that way with tanking, especially now with what's being discussed.
My first death came as a result of dying to the first pack of The Sunken Temple. Healer had this purple gear with big horns sticking out. Any healer I see wearing that now will worry me.
Healers dpsing isn't the problem.. I died to 2 mobs in sastasha.
The healer was lvl 54. I was lvl 17. The healer simply wasn't healing. For no reason should a tank die to 2 trash mobs.
I died to trash mobs 5 times in that run. I popped cds, I avoided AoEs. I'm not a new tank. I've been tanking for 7 years. I've tanked with healers who dps the entire runs but can still keep the tank alive.
I've died tanking in sastasha too. It doesn't even matter what level the healer is, they could be a mentor with all classes to 80 and still let you die. Nothing new here.
Clarify, I am talking in general. Your situation, where they say "nah" they were probably just trolling.
Yeah, the specific context was that healers were using it to troll by rescuing people into certain death situations sacrificing themself to do it. The request was to figure out a way so that if it was used like this to have the target of the rescue not die, but the healer still sacrifice themself as a punishment of sorts for trying to troll. Something like having the game not actually execute the rescue if it was done into a telegraph or a section of the arena that was about to disappear or something was the idea I think.
I got the impression that he was not very good at expressing his ideas in a cohesive way, but he definitely wasn't calling for any players behind the characters to die.
He hasn't been around since then so I think the mods paid him a visit :x.
