Geomancer as a Healer Idea??

Hi!

This is my first time posting in the forums, and I'm unsure if something of this nature has already been discussed, but I wanted to put this idea out into the universe while sleep escapes me. So here we go:

Geomancer (healer):
Operates around 5 phases based on the elements fire, water, air, earth and spirit.
Fire: %dmg buff for the party
Water: Increased mp regen
Air: Passive healing or healing potentcy increase
Earth: % party mitigation
Spirit (Light/Dark):
-Light: Summons opal carbuncle or some kind of summon and gives 10s 2% reflect of all outgoing party damage to boss. (personal dps)
-Dark: Summons obsidian carbuncle or some kind of summon and gives 10s of guaranteed party crit. (raid dps)

To enter each respective spirit phase you would need to end on a certain element, and have 1 stack of each element. Ending in Fire/Air for obsidian, Earth/Water for opal. Normal element phases would be 15s with a 30s recast, while spirit phases would be 10s with a 90s recast. If the same spirit phase is used back to back, the effect would be lost due to an imbalance of light and dark.

These are just some late night thoughts but I'd love to hear other ideas people have for a new healer class or for geomancer specifically (if it comes to ffxiv). I mainly picked the carbys for spirit phase because of Alphinaud using the opal one BUT JUST A THOUGHT.

I like the idea of phases! Though with that many elements I feel my hot bars crying.

I feel like if they deviated from the 14 lore of Geomancer’s focusing on Wind/Water/Earth it would be the Feng shui cycle of fire/water/lightning/metal/wood. At least the level 70 scholar/summoner tome weapons relate to it, with them using that cycle of Geomancy to enhance their own magics.

There is also the debate of if it would even be a healer, as well as Hingan vs Yanxian versions and Kyokohu using the element of water to heal while Swallow’s Compass talks about the element of Earth used for “giving life”.

Though I am confused on the carbuncle aspects of your design. I dunno if giving carbuncle to another class is a good idea.

Wu Xing. And it’s not Lightning, it’s Earth.

As far as the design goes it’s not really where I would imagine a Geomancer, healer or otherwise. If they wanted to expand elements I could see the six entirely, but adding Fire and the polarities feels weird. As said Carbuncle seems kind of odd too, not sure why it’s here.

Five phases is plenty for any job in this game, most of all healers.

I like it.

Not sure it makes sense and the spirit thing makes me roll my eyes, but it looks like it'd immediately be the most fun healer implemented as suggested.

We've been here before though, with the buffs. Remember Astrologian before Shadowbringers? They had cards that did something similar. In the end, these minor buffs weren't worth their salt and consolidated down to just damage+ buffs depending on roles.

Geomancer as a healer and time mage as a dancer support type caster DPS are my most wanted for 6.0 especially time mage.

Chemist was taking the lead as most wanted healer.

How would Chemist function do you think?

Honestly I would like to see something new and original. Not sure how it would work or the weapons, but just something not tied down to other game's job troupes.

It’s ultimately part of the series though. And we’ve gotten pretty new and original jobs as is. Scholar and Astro are pretty much made up whole cloth for instance.
