Every time I go to the Gold Saucer, I feel like I'm in Vegas... a cleaner, friendlier Vegas, but Vegas nonetheless. And, for me, no trip to the desert is complete without staying in some gaudy, palace-like bedroom (replete with a wine cooler priced to decommission your kids' college plans).

I know this is stupid, and would serve no purpose whatsoever, but I'd love it if the Gold Saucer had lodgings - if not hotel rooms, than a housing district.

The Gold Saucer in Final Fantasy 7 did have a hotel - a 'haunted' one. I'd love to see it show up in this game's version.

An inn room at least would be pretty cute I agree :). I wouldn't mind a ward or something but I don't think I could help myself and salt over why it's not instanced housing so.. lol /shrug.
On the topic of inns I always thought it'd be neat if you got a unique buff for staying in them (to avoid annoyance perhaps playing a rest animation is enough rather than having to log out, although could exit out of the game and reserve the same reward upon login). Perhaps the golden saucer gives you extra token boost or maybe something more unique like a few or all failures are paid on the house (entry / failing doesn't cost). Can think of other things for the other areas, ideally unique just for flavor and something that doesn't mess with the end game scene in like "hold on guys can't join savage yet till I log into the Gridana inn". Can be beyond buffs like little timed life items, little gifts and such. Although honestly if it's the Gold Saucer it should have pressure sensitive plates and a bill at the end haha :D.

I think more locations could have apartments, even if they don't have proper housing districts.
Gold Saucer is one, then Al Amigo and the Crystarium could be good apartment locations too. -

I'd like it to A) have a few different themed rooms (the jungle room!), B) to be able to enter them with party members and C) for there to be things to do in the room (triple triad, majong).
Less of a hotel room and more like renting a karaoke room or suite... or a small spa room, etc.

I do think (since we are just expressing personal thoughts and views) that more could be made of the GS. I always felt, because of the real life that I have had in Asia, that it would be a much more fitting venue for the concept that is pretty much left 'undersold' in Gridania. The Amphitheatre.
By that, I suppose I mean that when I look at the immense popularity of glamour and the forum threads. I could envision, much like my hobbies and travels - a more convention like center in the Saucer. The Fashion Rep NPC's are already there ofcourse but the fashion/glamour/cosplay parade could be so much more. We could have events held, we could drag in the musical/performance/bard element. We could give people a reason to populate the GS beyond simple token farming. You could really 'catwalk' it up; and all with a hotel next door.
As for the connotations of the vegas style party spa atmosphere; this is something that is big in Dubai, in Brit HK where I grew up and so much more. Because we all love to be happy and there isn't really any wrong in it. The scope of the game already allows for worse at times (hah!).
Philosophically speaking this is one of my peeves with the idea of 'play for the content - then leave' style of mentality now often pushed. I understand it; but I also dislike it because it feels as if the social elements, be that the people struggling to hold community/family style companies together and otherwise (forming actual friendships) - are lost because of that mindset. For those who to enjoy real interaction on the level of the Balmung RP or so forth, its nice to have a lighthearted and community based place.
Just look how many people have turned Limsa into that very thing. It could be so much more, with very little development effort. -

For the thread itself, I am massively in favour of Gold Saucer lodgings but I am also horribly biased for anything and everything Gold Saucer. If I took control of development everything else would grind to a halt as every patch was just new Gold Saucer stuff with everything else being side attractions.
I want Gold Saucer housing.
I want the bunny vendors to be options for housing vendors.
I want one of those gold statues of Godbert Manderville.
I want arcade cabinets of Air Force One I can take home.
I want Blitzball.
I want black jack.
I want the snowboarding and biking minigame from FFVII.
I want a Duty Finder sanctioned Gold Saucer Date Night activity for premades or a random player.
I want Gold Saucer in Wondrous Tails.
There is no Eorzea. There are no Ascians. There are no primals. There is only Gold Saucer. This is your life now. -
