Housing: Raise the Item Limit

As the title suggests, PLEASE raise the item limit. PLEASE.

Apartments sit at 100, and small homes 200 (small yards at 20 which is ridiculous)

It's getting a lot harder to decorate and add items to my home/apt without having to constantly switch out a tiny item (which often gives a nice lived in feel) for something new they add.

There's tons of furniture constantly being added, but the item limit stays stagnant, please raise this!!!

It's just starting to get a little frustrating.

one solution they could do to solve this is them creating "kits" as in, lets say you put partitions to make a wall, instead of adding 4 partitions, you craft a "kit" of 4 partitions, which instead of taking 4 item slots, takes 1
this kits could be basically basic stuff like partitions and lofts crafted to take more space what they do now
stuff they could do are like
2/3/4 partitions as one
lofts of 1x2/2x2 and so on
desk and coach as one item
a few examples of what could be done to reduce the amount of items we put in our houses

I. Was thinking similar the other day regarding the stone steps in gardens. They’re 2 long and I have 6 of them but was like “ why can’t they make a 3 or 4 long? Would save me space” so I agree. Combining things would be a good idea.

They should make double items like those and just double the crafting cost. Might not be any more difficult than adding normal items? But it'd be nice if they would do something like that. Maybe even add the Star Ruby/Sapphire Music Boxes from the GSM quest to the list, and call it like the Star Jewel Music Box (unlocked by completing the quest you need to make them for), and bonus points if it can do both tunes at once.

Yes, there is much more you can do with 200 items on a small house than 300 on a medium one. How is that even fair, it's not proportionate. I gave up on having a large house when I realized you'll never make it look good in every corner because you have to juggle with 400 items for such a massive space. So make it 400 for a medium, and 600 for a large.

This would be a HUGE help. Easily a quarter if not a third of the items in my house are things like partitions and lofts, that are more restructuring than decoration but take up sooo much space. I've had to shuffle things through quite a lot as I find new furniture I like, and while my place is pretty well decorated now, I'd definitely love more space. Especially outside, though I know there are some technical limitations there... my yard just constantly feels kind of empty, and I've got a ton of outdoor furniture just sitting on my retainer unused. :/

My large is very sparsely decorated and its near item limit! It's very depressing tbh, I don't do all the fancy glitches that take so many items either. It's jus stuff to make the place nice and I don't have enough slots to decorate the whole place! Large is vastly bigger and needs vastly more item slots, 600 at min and 800 ideally.

Just raising the limit to 450 for my large house would do so much for me.

Too often you see people with amazing rooms and decorated fantastically then you go Downstairs and they have a stage with some seats and a few flowers. Ok but compared to the middle this feels very empty and when you go upstairs they have all the rooms blocked off with a partition because they’re all empty as they basically hit the limit with the middle floor. Then with their 20 items remaining made a cheap stage area for downstairs lol this be in large obviously

This. My entire basement is essentially empty and I have maybe 20 slots left. and extra 50 would allow me to at least do something with it other than leave it empty.

Small 200, medium 400, large 600 is what it should be.

This would be nice qaq, but i'd still like a higher item limit along with it. It'd be like an added bonus that would DEFINITELY help out...and I hope they don't limit how many items we can combine if ever they add something like this.

What I don't like about it, is that it looks more spacey than the other 2. Probably because it wraps around the plot instead of a long line. So it gives the illusion that it can hold more than 20 until hit the limit and be like wtf.

With the addition of the wooden lofts, pretty much allowing you to make ever house floor into 2 separate floors, as an owner of a small house I gotta say... 200 is totally not enough! I'm on max item capacity now and there is so much more I would like to do!

Agreed. My small is at 200 max and really happy with how it looks. But I wish I had even 50 more slots for some details I would like to add.

Exactly. It's like they gave you just enough item limit to make the foundation but not quite enough to make it look "Lived in". It's frustrating. I guess less frustrating then not having a home :O

Yes that's a whole other thing! I really wish everyone who wants a house could just get a house. :(

We just got our upgrade from medium to large and I was so excited to decorate....until I ran out of item space on the top floor. T.T

Now we have a nice main floor and a cool basement, but the top floor looks unfinished and no way to fix it because I've used all 400 slots for our FC house. The house is so much bigger it really needs to have at least 600 item slots please!!!!!!!! <3

My suggestions (you'll find my same stance in the housing thread)

200 item limit for apartments

250-300 interior item limit for small house

350-400 interior item limit for medium

450-500 interior item limit for large

I definitely wouldn't say no to more space "Outside" my house. That 20 cap really limits anything else I want to place, as for "Inside" I still have plenty I could add to it, as it is it looks "Lived in" some might say cluttered, but I like it. I wouldn't mind a Medium plot. but I am too lazy to level my crafting to make gil so I could afford a Medium plot. Now if only they'd remove that stupid purchase limitation.. When I swapped servers I had to give up the plot I liked and had to settle for a less apealing location. Only to find the plot i had before available, but couldn't move to it. :(

600-800 slots for mansions please, we should not need to wall off half the house

Double the limit for all sizes! Some people think small have enough or only need a little but then ask for the bigger ones to get hundreds more. Smalls deserve to be fancy too. Especially the small outside. 20 items is way too little.

If I could get 5 more outdoor items on a small, it would make a world of difference

I have a cottage so I'm adding a lot of lofts, partitions, steps, beams and handrails to divide up and manage the limited volume that I have. These items are fantastic. With them I've increased the square footage of my house twofold.

My issue with them is that they take up so many furniture slots. My current floor plan makes use of 72 furniture slots. This leaves me with many nice sized rooms but 2 of them are empty because I can't add anymore furniture.

As a suggestion, maybe they could make these items use up a structural component slot rather than furniture slots. Another suggestion would be to create double length partition, loft and handrail items. Hope they read these comments. ♥

All you need are the stuffed Bokus. I have about 80 right now.

Shared housing storage would be great as well

If they raised the item limit to 125 or so in Apartments (150 would be better, but I could happily live with 125) I would really have no reason to even bid on a house on Balmung on my alt. I am pretty happy with how it turned out, but I'm at 98/100 and would really like to place some more fluff/clutter items and to swap out the Country Table for individual pieces, etc.

Give small houses a second floor as well. I don't get why mediums and larges have a basement, and second floor, but we just get a basement. Especially when several of the houses have second floors shown in their exterior. It's not fair.

Wow such a great idea I'm all for it. :)

I want 1000 for furnishing, across the board and augment it further from there. I also had to close off the upper and lower floors of my place, and currently find myself with about 20 slots left. In the beginning my creative process is going wild, then narrows into a precise focus of what I want. But as I approach the doom of limits I lose that inspiration toward the end, always.

Outside can be.. 200? I love mazes but there's not enough space there to do a get hyuck'd maze of mind twists.

Do I expect us to be given these numbers? No. But it would be nice to have em.

Outside is probably not seeing an increase due to the number of items people have to load whenever they enter a housing area. I think they said it was approaching the upper limit of what the engine can handle (who knows it that's true or not). There really isn't that kind of limit indoors so I would think an increase there would be more likely.

IMO apartments really could use the increase, they are about 3/5 the size of a small plot, but only get half the item limit. Proportionally they should have at least a limit of 120.

Raise the interior item limit by 100 for all housing and apartments
Cottage- was 200, now 300
Medium- was 300, now 400
Large- was 400, now 500

Apartments- was 100, now 200
