Disconnect people AFK please

I am from Gilgamesh server and we face a queue every time we need to connect to the game, even when you disconnect in the middle of a Raid, Dungeon or PVP match and its really difficult to come back fast as needed. People stay AFK for HOURS logged into the game and who is playing suffers a penalty because of that. I made the test myself and my character stayed on an entire night while i was sleeping and it was still online when i woke up. Many times after a line to login i see people AFK on Limsa Plaza, at the moment and for hours after that. Please, make the AFK automatically disconnect after sometime, don't wait until somebody try to login.

Target MB/NPC/Retainer, Craft, Trade with a player, ect

People will just step around the force kick like a puddle.

I think, instead of punishing existing players because of a problem they are not directly responsible for, we ought to find another way to fix the problem.

The problem is, you get disconnected and sometimes you are saddled with a queue to log back in.

This is not caused by the people AFKing in Limsa, as there's a number of reasons one might do so. Though I would argue that extremely long AFKs should be lessened in times of server queues, like anything more than 2 hours.

I would propose a system like this:

1). You can AFK as long as you like, UNTIL:
2). When the server's limit is reached, anybody wishing to log on, the server will start with those AFK the longest, until there are none left with an AFK of less than 2 hours, booting them off one by one as the new people log in. (I feel that there's no real legitimate reason to AFK more than 2 hours, to be honest. Just log off, seriously). This way, you aren't punishing people on off-hours or low-population servers, and you're only booting people off when it's necessary to keep queues lower.
3). If you get DC'd while in a duty, your "spot" is held for 5 minutes so you can log back on without queue (WoW does this, and it's awesome).
4). A network disconnect should attempt to return you to the game's title screen (it'd be even nicer if it tried to return you to the lobby/character select screen instead!) instead of closing the game completely to make re-connection faster. This is also something that WoW does that is far better than just closing the entire game over an interruption in connectivity. If the attempt to reconnect to the lobby server fails, then it should indeed dump you back at the Title Screen. If it can't verify your login (because your internet connection is down completely), THEN close the game entirely.

WoW also keeps your place in the DF queue for a few minutes so you don't have to start back at the end of the line again if you d/c for 3 minutes. I want THAT feature.

I think what i said was misunderstood. I am not talking about the disconnect itself. What i am saying is Gilgamesh is a full server. People that are active and playing are waiting in line to login because "the server is full" of people doing nothing (AFK) . Why should we wait to play just because people want to leave their characters logged in? Why do people want to stay afk "as long as they want"? To show their glamours? That's my point.

Every time I go to Limsa theirs tens of players afk most likely in their full edenchoir gear waiting for 5.3 infinitely. We can sacrifice those people to gain entry to the serve can’t we?

In general I agree. There's no benefit to letting people stay logged in forever while AFK. Again they should take a lesson from WoW and force a logout if you're AFK more than X amount of time. There's no downside to doing so.

Except in your OP, you mentioned getting DC'd out of a raid/pvp match/duty finder and not being able to get back on soon enough because of the queue?

I kinda agree with this cause it's getting kinda frustrating, but at the same time I don't want the kick to be something like 15mins like in most games, make it 30 at least or 1h, otherwise you get kicked for going to the toilet. And make it being you to character selection screen, not close the game completely.
We usually have afk kicks with major patches, I think this is an odd situation that's been lasting a while where we're having queues without new content at all.

Except that server populations change over time, specially since the data center reshuffle. Goblin, for example, used to be one of the smallest servers in the game and now it has constant login queues.

Yeah, right, because server populations don't ebb and flow.

When I moved to Cactaur, there were never queues. Never. Didn't matter if you logged on at 12AM, 8AM, 12PM, or 8PM, no queues.

Nowadays, anything after 10AM you'll see a queue all day long until.... pfft, at least Midnight.

It's not like I CHOSE to move to a full server. It became full after I moved.
