Exploration mode in dungeons

I was thinking about a new content in dungeons where there are no monsters, no chests and all passages are already clear. The purpose of this is just you to explore the map and look the environment carefully and better, like reading the notes and books there or bringing more than 4 people for screenshots.

Under the duty menu options, the Exploration mode will be available when you clear the dungeon.

You already sort of have this, in that after you clear a dungeon, you now have until the time of the original duty expires to go back and explore before getting kicked.

it would definitely be nice to not have to clean out all the monsters first though!

Well you could already to it on lvl 80 with unsyced dungeons, just kill mobs with few hits and you could explore as long as you want.

Would be interesting to have as a DF option, provided you already cleared the respective Duty first. Any issues with certain acivements woul be moot since the dungeons are linear enough that you could get them unless you joined in prog and used shortcuts.

Plus it makes snapshots more convenient for these instances.

Speaking of which, I wonder what instances are flavorful for certain jobs. I can see Amdapor HM for WHM and Wanderer's for SCH and maybe Halatali for PLD, but what about the rest?

Warrior: Hullbreakers (?)

Astrologian: Pharos (good place for star gazing, maybe?), Gubal Libary, Antitower (?)

Blackmage: The Weeping City of Mhach (not a dungeon, but an instances, so I hope it counts!)
Summoner: Anything allagan, including the whole of Coil and certain research facilities

Monk: Temple of the Fist
Samurai: Kugane Castle (&Yoshinbo)
Ninja: Doma Castle, Swallows Compass (?)
Dragoon: The Aery, Sohr Khai

...I'll try to think of the rest...

Could be nice and faisible since it is mainly a client side feature.

Now it is not totally wrong to consider it is somehow already possible since we can clear some contents unsync alone (I'm not sure we have the exit timer in this case).

I'd like this. Especially if this could be implemented with gathering job classes in mind, too. More places as not just a fighting job class but a gather job class to explore, too! ^^

It'd be a wonderful feature for role-players. I'd only want it as a feature if other players could come along for the ride, though.

I don't see why they shoudne't do that, at least for 4 man groups

I liked this being an option in Copied Factory a lot. It gives the opportunity to delve much further into the lore of the area.

Kinda like Nier raid? Only available once though.

When I think we kinda need it is in all contents where they place side story texts we can't read in party since players always seem to be in a hurry (Orbonne serie, Gubal, for example).

Well the dungeons are considered cleared out in the context of the story so what harm is there in going back for a wander? It's not like any beastie is there to stop me.

I think this would be a neat idea for dungeons & raids. Yes I know that technically, at least dungeons, you can go exploring after clearing out the dungeon (raids not so much). Generally speaking once done they are considered "cleared", unless they get a 'Hard' mode in which case they are not, but once 'Hard' mode is done they are considered cleared again.

So would be a nice feature that if you had the ability to toggle "exploration mode" in options, where no monsters would be - but also no chest's, no loot, no xp, etc. Let you do it solo or find a group of others. With the only requirement is that you have "cleared" the dungeon/raid before hand (and Hard mode if applicable).

I do that occasionally if the place looked interesting on the first run through. Assuming it's one where you can backtrack.

Definitely something I'd like to see added.

Using "Return" will bring you back to the start of any dungeon and I cant think of a dungeon right now where your progress would be blocked from start to finish - so, if you want to, you can explore every dungeon from start to finish once its cleared!
