Actually that isn't a usable spell (if there's in the .dats, maybe a day will be). right now nm aren't much an effort of tactic, we should wait the first proper endgame to judge

I have been looking forward to awesome battles in this game. The 2009 E3 Trailer showed footage that made the game appear a certain way. Having reached level fifteen by just mashing 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1, I grew too bored to go any further. I am very saddened to learn that this spell is not actually in the game, and that there's no incentive for a mage to press any button other than 1.
All people do is bitch off BelgianRofl as being a troll but out of most of the people here who try to justify a point, he makes some of the best points out of everyone. People need to be more objective and get a better sense of humour.
The Lalafel in the opening movie does the same move, only thing that could explain this. would be a short term barrier (not in game atm from looks of what we have). Could very well be unimplemented ideas the game may or may not offer later on, kind of like the enhancement for the Flaming arrow (also from the opening movie).
May just be spells/abilities we can look forward to seeing, or just enhanced visuals. There are few more things that stand out then just those two effects though.
The sad thing is, that instead of refuting my points with logic, often times people resort to emotional attacks, or run of the mill defenses like: I'm waiting for someone to tell my why this game deserves more players than it currently has. Nobody has even attempted.
Also, the less we pat SE on the back, and the more we get on their case, the more pressure there is for them to do something drastic with this game. The longer they wait and the slower they go, the lesser chance they have of reviving FFXIV. Believe me, if I didn't care whether this game went away or not, I wouldn't be here.
something to keep in mind about most rpg's and mmorpg's is that cutscenes and trailers show skills only the NPC's can use to provide a hype to the game. I know of plenty of skills that NPC's use throughout FF games I wish I could have used. But, as I said, they are NPC Specific moves.
If you have done the final story quest, you will see that those NPC's have classes that we do not yet have access to. One of them was a ninja

Actually, that Miqo'te is a Arcanist. Also, according to the data miners, arcanists use mechanics attached to their staves to manipulate or protect their surroundings. Force fields, deflection, ect. That Miqo'te is involved in the archanist's guild in the main story line quests pretty early on in the game.

But seriously, I remember reading about some dude's .dat mining excursion, and he found several details for arcanists, specifically their ability to set traps and fields.
Maybe that ability is an extension of arcanist stuff?

There's no need to pressure them in doing "something drastic" because they don't need to do "something drastic", they need to build upon the foundations of the game, that are quite solid, and include that bit of diversity that's good for this market.
Sorry if I have to burst an enormous bubble, but they don't need a rank 15 guy that probably played the game no longer than a week to tell them that they need to improve the game as soon as possible. They already are, without your "help".

I know BelgianRofl from my server and he'll bitch about the same things in-game and I can vouch as a witness that not one single person who argued with him could answer any of his questions. Telling someone to go read their own threads instead of giving a direct link to something (which would probably be your own opinion anyway and not fact) is a poor way of proving a point.
That would be true if those threads didn't include several answers to his "questions".
In this case the answer is simple. There's no reason why a game developer creating a cutscene should feel compelled and limited by the abilities available to the players while storyboarding and directing that cutscene. The difference between cutscenes and gameplay is radical through the whole gaming field, and that's the whole reason behind the existance of cutscenes.
Answer that has already been given multiple times in this thread, by the way. Exactly like in the previous cases of obvious concern trolling.
I read that paragraph about 10 times over and I did not understand one thing you just said. It's like you purposely threw jargon at me (that I happen to know fortunately) to try and make a point but it made absolutely no sense. It's pretty simple why people still play. It's free, they are making changes and naturally you will not see the more drastic ones till later since more work is involved in developing them. People are looking forward to this change.
However, the most simple reason of them all is, we want to make this game better by being active and contributing our opinions on how to best shape things. That, on top of being a fan to the Final Fantasy series, keeps people around. It's really that simple.
