Do you want Garo gears/mounts to appear in the game again ?

Firstly, I am truly sorry that I'm talking about this topic again. I posted a post about Garo gears/mounts back in early January, when I just started the game for a few weeks. Now that I reached the endgame of XIV, I always try to collect glamours and mounts that I like, and yet the Garo-exclusive ones remain a missing part.

I know I am being whiny but everytime I think that I missed the Garo event, and the FFXV event for Regalia just because I started the game a bit late hurts me so much. I do think there are still some people out there who started the game late, or, didn't pay attention to Garo event until it's gone. So, hopeless or not, I still believe if there are enough demands, we could make Square Enix consider about it.

SE doesn't need to bring back the whole event, could just let the gear re-appear in game as rewards for specific PvP results, or, they could sell them on Mog Station. I'm willing to buy because Garo has some of the best stuffs in this game.

So, what is your opinion ? Do you want the Garo to come back (just the glams at least) ? Do you think the comeback is possible ? Will it be on Mog Station ?

Garo isn't a Square Enix IP, so they would have to renegotiate it all, and I reckon that'll be a costly endeavour just to allow people who missed it to have a second chance. It's also why they cannot sell it on Mog Station.

Yeah I did hear so and think it that way, but I still can't get it out of my mind. A friend of mine showed me every glam to try on yesterday and the pain keeps appearing lol

I must ask what did SE get out of it? SE had to adapt the existing designs to be things in their game. I know they promoted it on their website. Probably publicized it to the gaming press. Since I don't follow the show I'm curious if the Garo people did anything? Was anything incorporated into the show? If they didn't do anything, or very little, I would guess the whole thing was paid for by the creators of Garo as esentually "product placement" and it would have ended according to the terms of the contract. If that is the case, it returning would require the Garo people to pay for it.

I can't imagine the event did much to bring fans of Garo into the game. "Oh I get to dress up a character in a game I don't play as one of my favorite characters in this show I love, after I've done a whole bunch of grinding! Yay!" I mean it's possible someone would find they like the game, but if their whole reason for trying was to get the gear or mount, they would probably quickly get discouraged.

Personally I would like the Job restrictions removed from the gear. It would also be nice if I could keep it in the armoire.

Garo? Nah.
Something else longstanding and enough to get people back into the pvp game? Absolutely.

They've changed it up so your GC doesn't matter anymore.

Garo is gone permanently, it's not something SE owns.

Yokai Watch, definitely coming back though. Level-5 CEO, Hino and YoshiP are good friends.

I find it illogical that people use the hellishness of a grind as a reason to not bring back an event. The longer, or more often it is available, the less of an issue the grind is. It would be better if Garo and Yo-kai were permanent. The problem with Garo was there was very little to let people know it was going on.

It sucks that you missed out on the Garo stuff, but it kind of is what it is. To be honest, I wouldn't expect that one again anytime soon, though the FF XV crossover could return at some point. Either that or they'll throw the rewards for the FF XV event on the Mogstation. The Mogstation scenario is far more likely, in my opinion.

I honestly don't think I'd want another PVP oriented event, simply because I can never get into any PVP matches since expansion's launch. I was going to do my daily to get some Late Allagan (spelling?) gear.... but I can never get into a match. I have pretty much given up at this point.

The last time and only time I PvPed hardcore was for the Garo event the week it was released. After I grinded the gear I wanted and the mounts out I barely touched it again. PvP in this game isn't the best. I would prefer that they don't do another PvP event again. I think they focus too much on the Feast as it is, but that's another topic entirely.

They changed it so that you need the full amount of people in order for a match to start because they got complaints about the 24 mans. Which effectively killed PVP off peak hours in the US.

The lack of PvP event is contributing to your inability to get a PvP match outside of primetime.

Don't personally care for it as I got all of it when it came out. I think the xv stuff will probably end up on mogstation since the xiii stuff did.

However I don't think the garo stuff will come back, and that's simply because rewards from pvp events are 1 time rewards only, just like the top whatever rewards from feast. And feast is still in the game, you just can never get the old rewards and titles from it ever again.

It's kinda like the 1.0 stuff, you can never get the tattoo or old mounts anymore because you had to be a player at the time.

If they bring it back, I hope they don't make it mogstation because it took a lot of us a lot of effort to get all the gear and the mounts and it wasn't the same as a regular event where you do 1 quest and get the rewards in 10min, I'd be fine with a reboot of it where people can get them as long as they do the same requirements again.

If that were the case, why was there a huge spike in PvP participation during the first months of the event? People clearly knew about the GARO event being a thing. The only thing that was vague, was the end date of the event. Something along the lines of "It'll end some time after the release of Stormblood."

It ended up going from patch 3.5 (17th of January, 2017) till patch 5.1 (29th of October, 2019). They eventually did make a lodestone post notifying players about the end date, about 5-6 months prior to it.

OMG, that's just actually really scary to think about...

Edit: The event had some really nice glamour options and gearing options that were actually easy to acquire and were way better looking than most of the tome gear for DoM, Ranged Physical, and MNK at the time, so it's not like a bad idea if they want to renew it to advertise another GARO series. But, as long as the clothes look nice enough to want to buy and the mounts are really cool with a fair time sink again: It should do well. I mean, just look at how popular the first moonlight faire event was

I found out about the "event" as a new player simply by talking to NPCs and discovering they were selling awesome-looking gear, and the mounts were listed in the achievements (not that I tried to get them).

Gold Saucer was an alternative if you didn't want to grind PVP, and we have Frontline roulette now for guaranteed times even if you didn't win.

I don't think you'd find many people who don't want them back.

True, even mogtomes brought the people, albeit sometimes non-desirable players however beggars can't be choosey.

Would like more mogtome events, seems like they offer a nice way to get certain stuff without farming (especially the primalmounts). who knows we might have an impromtu event of that sort soon given current circumstances.

For GARO I don't think its in the cards right now as it is a collaboration with a niche toku series, which would likely be very expensive for SE

I can also see XV getting reran if only all other SE crossover events were reran at least once.

I wouldn't mind it coming back as long as it wasn't tied to PvP. That's why I didn't bother with it before. PvP sucks. In all forms, in all games.

As much as I feel for those that missed out, it was in the game for I think a whole Expansion and a Half. So there was plenty of time for those that WERE playing the game.

Plus as its already been mentioned, Garo does not belong to Yoshi-P or Square, it was a collab event with a separate owner of the IP. Trying to get it back in XIV would be costly and take time.....that would be better spent on a whole new fresh event that could reinvigorate PvP.

Then for The Regalia, that COULD come back as a Mog Store item. But I think is No chance the event will ever return, so the title is no longer obtainable.

Limited event stuff is kind of just the nature of MMO's
Kind of have to expect some missed limited stuff if you weren't around since the beginning

I'd like to see it added back to the Golden Saucer at least. I came back to the game nearing the end of the "event" so I didn't even realize that what I was seeing in the Saucer was linked to the Garo event as it was old news by that point. There were at least a few other pieces there I would have picked up had I known they'd be going away soon.

When it started it was announced. After a while people mostly forgot about it and people who started during that time had very little to tell them it existed. When it was announced that it was ending in 5.1 there was a sudden surge in pvp. Around the time it was about to end and afterwards there were people begging for it to be extended or returned because they didn't know about it.

The playerbase at least doubled during this time. Lots of new players never saw it announced.

Just a generic FYI for those interested. The Garo franchise does weird, but limited collaboration events with a huge swath of companies/brands/etc here in Japan. A big "regular" one is a collab with Pachinko parlors or drinks at convenience stores.

So for it to show up in a Japanese game isn't really surprising. That said, what specifically the Garo brand got vs what exactly SE got out of this is a mystery to me. Money? Paid sponsoring? Who knows. If it wasn't lucritive for whoever paid the other, I highly doubt it'll return.


Also! It's not unique to Garo here in Japan by any means. The Evangelion franchise (yeah that old anime) still does a TON of stuff similar...so I wouldn't be surprised if something similar to that popped up either.
...ALSO, that said, Square Enix has done really weird partnerships in the last few years. Don't know if it was done outside of Japan, but Coleman (camping goods) and FF15 had a thing. Lightning was hawking Louis Vuitton. I wanna say I bought a Dragon Quest blue "slime" nikuman a while back (it's a beef-filled steamed bun).

It would have been better to mention that the gear was really affordable compared most of the other wares and the boots, gloves and top (or the full set) for a single job could be acquired in just 3-6 hours of play for any Adder and Maelstrom players on weekends. They were like 2-8k individually, which is way less of a grind than most of the items they sell (though still desirable on an individual to individual basis), so the GS versions were totally a bad deal in an overall comparison

A) Wasn't the FFXIII-event two or three times running before stuff appeared at Mogstation? (Hadn't played 2.x at that time, so can only guess from what I heard.)
B) And hasn't Yokai been announced to have a third run this year - including the so far missing job-weapons?

Sure, I'd like for them to be back in the game, but there's almost zero chance of it happening. Squeenix isn't gonna give Mappa (the studio that did the most recent Garo anime) free advertisment, and Mappa isn't gonna pay for advertisement for an anime that's 2 years old. They were removed from the game no doubt because the initial contract period was up.

It's similar to how the Berserk gear was removed from Dragon's Dogma for the Dark Arisen release. It came out some years after the Berserk movies were out, so the movie studio wasn't gonna pay to keep the stuff in the game, and Capcom wasn't gonna give them free advertisement because businesses don't do that generally speaking.

Unfortunately that IP doesn't belong to SE. Maybe one day they will come back maybe not.

Only the mounts require winning. The gear just required grinding for wolf marks, which you get for just participating--you get 1000 just for doing the daily roulette.

This, they likely signed a limit contract with whomever owns the rights due to the promotion tying in with a Remaster for the original 2005 TV series. The GARO promotion was never meant to last very long at all and they gave us advanced warning that it would be leaving well before it was taken out of the game. It sucks for people who joined after the promotion ended in 5.1, but everyone else had a period of nearly three years to get items from it particularly since the Frontlines daily exists and gave out 1,000 Wolf Marks simply for participating as Ursa noted.

As for whether or not the contract will be renewed, it's entirely up to SE and GARO's parent company to strike another agreement. GARO: Versus Road airs this year which would give them justification to do another tie in, but the fact that SE didn't renew the contract makes it seem like the two sides couldn't reach a mutually beneficial deal to begin with.

It never felt like an event though. It wasn't a short-term promotion; there were no quests attached to it. I wouldn't even know it was a crossover if I hadn't been told. They were just there.

Saying it shouldn't come back so they can focus on new events sounds a bit like saying all the Alexandrian gear should be dumped so they can work on something new.

Having it there long-term wasn't taking away from anything else or preventing them from running other "temporary feature" events in the meanwhile. It wasn't taking resources away from anything else.

Obviously it had to go for reasons beyond their control, but they didn't remove it just to keep it exclusive.
