The writing in this game is great

Shadowbringers goes without saying. But what prompted me to make this thread was the Alexander raid series. I just finished A12 last night. Only three years late! But the revelations in ShB prompted me to go back and play some of the old raids from previous expansions, starting with the Crystal Tower. Shadowbringers already had a major impact on me, but I imagine it would have made an even bigger impact had I done the Crystal Tower back in ARR.

Simply put, Alexander, specifically Midas and the Creator, were riveting. Gameplay was fun as well, but nowadays, all the groups I got pretty much facerolled the bosses in minutes. So, PSA for non-raiders like me, now's a good time to do old raids. They are very easy to do and you can really enjoy the story, get cool minions and the achievements!

The concept behind Alexander is very unique. A self-aware primal that knows that its very presence will eventually cause a calamity, so it shuts itself down to preserve life. Creating a frozen moment in time where Mide and Dayan can spend the rest of their days together for eternity.

The end of the series convinced me that this wasn't the last time we are going to see Alexander. After all, unless there's other content I haven't played yet (which is possible), he's still sitting there in the middle of the Hinterlands frozen in time. And his minion the cat, is still traipsing around doing whatever.

I can't wait to revisit this story again.

Anyway, I just wanted to say kudos to you on a job well done, SE!

Alexander has been my favorite 8-man raid series to date. Love the story too! And the music. All of it is on point IMO.

I presume you've done the level 80 dungeon The Twinning? Seeing as you were prompted to go back and do Alexander.
I think this more or less confirms that there's no major developments for Alexander to come.

Seeing as Garlond Ironworks essentially reverse engineered it along with Omega to send the Crystal Tower back in time to the First.

Besides, if Alexander did come back in some way, it would kinda defeat the point of it calculating all possible scenarios and determining that the best course of action was to essentially permanently shut down to exist in a single moment of time or time loop.

I did like the story of Alexander, even if the fights themselves are mostly annoying goblins.

There is one solution: summoner job summon. We can create a weaker version that would not have the drawback of the raid version.

Alexander was so amazing to me, i loved it. I pretty much begged one a friend who started a few months ago to do it asap lol (though mostly because they are a sentai fan and I knew they'd scream over Brute Justice.) A12's "secret" that the dps portals show was awesome. Music is some of the best.

That would be awesome. In fact before Shadowbringers came out, I suggested pretty much what they did with Phoenix, but with Alexander instead.
I'm not sure how feasible having a third phase of that rotation would be, but maybe having an alternative for AoE's?

I stopped playing Summoner in Shadowbringers, but if I understand it correctly, Phoenix has to come after Bahamut? If so, I don't think Alexander should come after Phoenix. Make it at least an alternative path after Bahamut at least.

I mean if we're talking about adding Alexander to SMN, I wouldn't be against updating their LB3 to be Divine Judgement.

Though that might make the MCH's Satellite Laser feel a bit less impressive.

It really depends on what they do with SMN/SCH. They are slowly splitting them up and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them become a job that is classless and the one that does is probably going to get a rework. My bet is on SMN so it nothing like how it was originally and always sees the most changed when it comes to new expansions.

If they combine DWT/Bahamut and leave Phoenix as is maybe they can something in between the two trance phases. Maybe make Alexander be certain ability type effects. Idk but I really don't want a 3 minute rotation.

As for the op, I think Alexander was an alright story but when you mess with time, the story gets redundant. I will say coil>eden>Alexander>omega in terms of story

Not very relevant to this thread, but one problem I have with this game's story is the fact that I forget a lot of things. The MSQ makes references to ARR stuff all the time, some things are crucial for understanding and enjoying the story and I often see myself trying my hardest to remember. It's from many years ago after all and I have taken long breaks from the game couple times. Sure I could rewatch cutscenes but that will take too much time for what it's worth.

If I remember correctly (it's been a couple of years), Alexander can't see the WoL's future. But every possible timeline where it intervenes directly leads to disaster due to Alexander's power draining a horrible amount of aether from the world around it; the specific example given was that Alexander could've beaten Bahamut, but the power required would lead to an even worse fate than the Seventh Calamity. That's why Alexander tests us, via the fight with Alexander Prime, to see if we're worthy of protecting the world.

If they ever do more egi glamours, I'm hoping for a Demi-Alexander to replace Bahamut.

Storywise, Alexander set the bar, and it has not been huddled yet.

I also believe canonically speaking, Alex is the only primal that hasn't had its arse handed to them by the Wol. In a jest blog I wrote, I stated Ol Alex shut down coz he knew it was going to happen anyway ;p
