Cannot run the game in DirectX11 mode.

So it was like this 1 year ago when I created my first character, and now that I've gotten back into the game, the problem still persists.

Whenever I try to launch the game in directX11 mode I get this error. https://i.imgur.com/DNrOdOV.png

The crash happens immediately upon pressing the play button in the launcher and proceeds to close down the game as well as the launcher.
The game runs without any issues in DirectX9 mode (aside from having constant framedrops no matter my graphical setting, but I suppose that's normal?)

I have scoured the internet for a solution, but no one seems to have the exact same error code, which brings me here.

Things I have tried:
Turning off game mode in windows
Making sure my nvidia settings are set to use GPU in 3D settings instead of Automatic
A clean boot by disabling all start up programs
Reinstalling DirectX
Deleting cfg file in my games folder
Various resolutions on start up

Ofcourse I have also made sure to update any drivers and windows (which I do on the regular)

I really hope you can help me with this issue, since I feel launching in DirectX11 will help my performance greatly, and get rid of the archaic framestutter hell that is DirectX9

When exactly did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC that coincides with this?

Can you submit a Final Fantasy XIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

The problem started happening ever since the first time I launched the game. I have never been able to make DirectX11 mode work.

Hate to copy paste myself, but as stated in my original post
Things I have tried:
Turning off game mode in windows
Making sure my nvidia settings are set to use GPU in 3D settings instead of Automatic
A clean boot by disabling all start up programs (and restarting my computer, only launching FFXIV upon startup)
Reinstalling DirectX
Deleting cfg file in my games folder
Various resolutions on start up

Same error message every time

I'd suggest some of the following in order to try and alleviate the issue:

1) Update your Windows Operating System using Windows Update. Make sure to install any optional updates as these aren't installed automatically.

2) Disable any overlays (Geforce Experience, Discord overlay, etc.) that may be present while playing the game. Also make sure to close any other programs that are running alongside the game while playing.

3) You may want to try a reinstall of the game. When you do, make sure to remove the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Be sure to make a backup of this just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.

Thank you for replying. However, I fear you have not read my initial description of the problem, and my original post where I describe my attempts at fixing this issue, properly.

As I said, I have already made sure to install all windows updates, optional as well, as I do on the regular.
I have attempted a clean boot of my pc, and attempted to launch the game with no other programs running but FFXIV and it is still the same error message. This includes any and all overlays.

And for the sake of full clarity - the error message is delivered upon launching the game, where the game crashes. It is a launch error that crashes the game, a launch crash is if you will.

I will attempt a re-installation of the game, however I highly doubt it will help as I recently installed it after having it uninstalled for a year, and it is the exact same error message showing as it was a year ago.

After having reinstalled the game, and made sure to remove the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV) I still get the exact same error message.

The install was done from a clean boot with no other applications running. And I immediately attempted to boot in directX11 but to no avail.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We would like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:

1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs.
3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)

To generate a System Report, simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

Hey Mathak,

I posted this on the thread I made, but here's what I found. It's not a fun fix, but worth a try if you have the spare hard drive space.

I still don't actually know what the issue was, but I decided to try creating a new partition and instance of Windows, and the game worked just fine there. I also noticed something weird where, when trying to install a past gpu driver that I know the game worked on, it wouldn't install because 'my version of Windows was not compatible', but I'm on Windows 10 Pro, so something with my install of Windows must have gotten corrupted. I have since reinstalled Windows on my main partition and have the game up and running.

I was having the exact same issue and made the following edit to my registry:

Once there edit the value of LoadAppInit_DLL to 0
