Given the current situation, I think this would be a great time for Square to bring back some of the old events. FFXIII event, FFXI Events, FFXV events, maybe even the Yokai Watch event.

Everything on sheldue, play what you have and wait.
We're going to be getting the Yokai Watch collab again eventually, only this time it will be with updated rewards. So I would probably say that one isn't in the cards currently. The other ones though? I wouldn't have an issue with it, though I sincerely doubt they would with 5.25 just around the corner.
Just move 5.25 up a week or two. Give us a relic grind to start on.
I think a lot of people have had just about enough of Yokai Watch. Let it rest.
Yeah I did both of the previous yo-kai watch events and I'm incredibly jazzed to see what happens with the next. They're supposed to add RDM/SAM/GNB/DNC weapons and I'm incredibly excited to see what they look like + the new minions...
The only problem with this is that it's likely SE employees are among those staying home. They're tech and can likely work from home, but it might be a little more difficult to coordinate something like this remotely if working from home was not normal for them before this.
I don't mind the old events being brought back if they give people who already acquired everything the first time around something new to aim towards. They're doing just that with the Yo-Kai stuff at least but I'd like for it to be extended to any other returning events.
While I would love the everliving heck out of something more to do with my non duty doing downtime... This would require MORE work from the Devs who are probably already dealing with extra constraints. I dunno how many older events are still even available to "toggle on".
If it was easy I'd really honestly love that. I really wanna do the FFXIII event.
Though I'm not in quarantine right now. Not yet, I'm an essential worker.
???
The OP's point was merely that if there were ever a time to rerelease content for additional engagement or time played, especially content that would other be received poorly, now is that time.
That said, I don't think anything would ever make me want to do the Yokai events.
If it’s as simple as a toggle or takes little work, sure, but I expect they’re affected by self isolation too so dunno how resources and how much it’d take from them working on content.
Just play a different game, if you're that bored. I doubt its just a switch they can just turn on at their leisure.
So for some reason you're thinking that because more people have to stay home, the devs somehow have more time to work on stuff?
They are very likely among the 160+ countries infected, plus the summer Olympics were postponed. I knew things hit stage red when Tom Brady was traded and no one cares. At this point, I'd keep your fingers crossed that patch releases for this game remain on schedule. I'd imagine now is not the best time to put more on their plates.
That would be nice, something from SE to encourage people to stay in home
As a few have mentioned, it’s likely the team is also under increased workplace stress due to the outbreak. As much as I’d like to see some of the old events that I haven’t gotten the chance to do, I think we’ll be lucky if they stay on schedule for current ones.
I can't imagine there's much work involved in reactivating old events. They've already been made, the items are already in the game.
The reason I suggested it was I was guessing that 5.3 might be impacted, as that's new content. And not we know 5.3 is being delayed.
I wouldn't mind a mogtome event or something similar. I am guessing its as simple as flipping a switch after maintenance for the old ones.
Reactivating old events is indeed as simple as flipping a switch. It's what they did when they brought back Yokai Watch (on live stream) and the ffxi event. However, making new rewards takes time they probably can't afford at the moment, and outside of a super special request (like with Yokai), they probably don't want to reactivate old events without having updated rewards for the players that already got everything the first time.
I don't think anything will come out since there most likely at home to like most of us is now.
XIII wont return, thats on mogshop and makes them cash ... the rest hmm i dont think "repeating" a quest is to much work, while they prolly are mostly in home office they will still have a round that circles of ppl that come in, im pretty sure one of them has the required knowhow on how to hit repeat.
The idea is pretty good and no its not a problem their on home office but theres a different problem i guess.
Keep in mind cross over events are likely bound by a contract that says "during time x to y we permit usage of our IP" and those are all likely over and under the current situation i dont think their going to chase down other companies to renew them ... because contracts between big companies are usually with the legal team for weeks/months to check every single word ... then sent back with suggested changes, and then checked on the other side.
So i guess we likely wont see much, maybe the direct line to FFXI and FFXV team is short and they are allowed to repeat that, it may be still both SE but its still not the "same"
Seems WoW has extended their 100% exp buff all the way up to the next expansion.
It's a smart move imo, already I'm seeing friends chatting about resubbing. I like ff14 and appreciate the devs work and the difficult situation, but an empty patch with a long delay until the next, while competing games are offering incentives carries a risk of losing players. Breaks are good but if you encourage your players to spend 4+ months in another mmo that's approaching a new expansion, you'll lose some of them.
If there's anything they can flip a switch on, it's worth considering.
A moogle event which offers some old seasonal rewards would be nice. There are some items still missing from the Mog Station, like rainmaker hair and at least one barding.
While I'm definitely in favour the idea if it's easily done, one thing that might make it more work than flipping a switch is that these events haven't been updated since their last appearance but the game has. On the surface most of these events may not seem to clash with the changes to the game but unexpected clashes with code "under the hood" are common enough without sticking in content that hasn't been tested or updated in a few years.
Imagine the headache for SE if a re-introduced event bugged out massively making it unplayable or even interfering with other aspects of the game, forcing them to take it back down or dedicate currently limited resources to fix it.
They really need to add new stuff that are not accessories to moogle tomes
probs about time FFXV stuff either comes to mogstation or the event makes another roundadding engine blade and some more music to rewards
I would rather see old events come back than another Moogle event. I think every crossover but FFXV has happened more than once. (I guess Garo only happened once, but it lasted forever.) I would imagine they would do XV at least a second time before they retire the stuff to the mogstation. I think they should just leave Garo and Yo-Kai active, unless the owners of those have a problem with it. Then people can just work on it at their leisure.
new items would awesome too for these events
Yeah, but I'd imagine there are a lot of us here who are here specifically because either a we like final fantasy, or b we don't like wow.
Wow having a 100% exp boost does nothing for me, and I'd like to point out that xiv already has exp boosts baked in.
I also already have it all at 80, so a new boost would do nothing for me.
I would love if the FFXV event came back. I took a hiatus for 3 years during which time it happened so I missed out. It would be great to get a second round of this one. Or another Moogle event. I'd take either/or.
I think that the past Final Fantasy collaboration events should come back. It helps to have more things to do between patches especially since everyone is stuck at home. They would have to update these events of course so it isn't something they can turn on and off like some kind of switch.
Another thing to note is that 2020 marks the 10 year anniversary of the original launch of Final Fantasy XIV so I'm hoping that there are exciting content planned ahead. The Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XI, and Dragon Quest X collaboration events actually came out to celebrate the first anniversary of A Realm Reborn so it would be great to see something big for the 10 year anniversary of the original Final Fantasy XIV. Looking back, it's amazing how an MMORPG that had such a disastrous launch eventually becomes a universally acclaimed title that won multiple accolades within 10 years.
