Expert Recipe Ranking: Glamour and Mount Reward Concept Art

Hello. Saw the commotion about expert recipe rewards being really poor and underwhelming. So I wanted to create concept art (female) of glamours and mounts that could possibly be added into future seasons. Maybe be top 12 or top 100 rewards.

Hopefully Developers, read this and consider adding glamours and mounts that we would really like to have, or similar to it. Feel free to post your Expert Recipe reward drawings and suggestions also.

Who knows, might be added to the game. :)

Yes. :) I think glamour, tools, mounts, and all of the above should be added as expert recipe rewards to motivate for more people to do it. Also it is healthy for keeping things competitive. I don’t see a problem with it because, the devs have it set up so people win once and can’t win again for the current season, giving hundreds/thousands of players a chance to win.

FYI: Love your thread about better rewards and challenges. That is exactly what this game needs. And hopefully expert recipes are the right step in that path.

nice artwork and design, and i agree the rewards are not up to par with the effort you spend doing them.

Love the art style and the clothing! It looks SO good! If that was the expert recipe reward, I can promise you the leaderboards will be super competitive for the quest for that nice looking outfit, lol. I honestly can’t think of any reward ideas. I guess as long as the rewards aren’t boring (titles or ugly glamour) and actually worth people’s time to grind for, I’m all for it!

He is a known troll in crafter section, ignore him. Typical average day for him is to bomb any ideas that involve crafting getting exciting rewards and challenges. Probably insecure about it. His posts are so negative and condescending it makes me wonder what his purpose is.

To be on topic. Tren I love your art and style. For males, I think it should be a green unbuttoned shirt and pants with a tool belt. Maybe flashlights on the helmet also.

UPDATE:

I designed a Flying Weaver Mount as a sketch currently. This time, I want to do this in a Bravely Second art style, so maybe it seems a bit more “fantasy” like. This design in my opinion, should be Top 12. Coloring will be finished later.

DISCLAIMER: These designs are not official from Square Enix, they are just me brainstorming ideas they could possibly add as Ishgard Restoration Ranking rewards.

CONCEPT: Weaver Secondary Tool is the steering wheel. Weaver Primary Tool is the seat. :)

Thank you! :) Unlikely they’ll add wide hips, but it’s always a possibility. Look at the 2B Nier Leggings, an altered butt! lol Point is, hopefully they add the outfit to some degree. Also, you can definitely do it if it’s top 100 especially! It takes awhile to understand but you can do it eventually.

See, it was the mount I was looking for.

I don’t like forum drama, and I’m probably going to regret replying to a troll. However, if your idea of “kind public service” is starting problems in a harmless thread with cute drawings, (which by the way I hope gets added to the game!) then something is seriously wrong with you.

TrenDeca, your mount design is fabulous! That's 25,000,000x better than then Pteranodon mount they are currently giving out. Seriously? Why the FXXK would a crafter want a Pteranodon mount by doing 500,000 points on both crafting and gathering classes? That is NOT a easy thing to do, and it should have been a much prettier mount. Whoever made that decision of granting a Pteranodon needs to be slapped into some senses...

Too bad they didn't introduce something like that in-game as reward for expert

Here’s another one! My general design choices are very “sexy, show some skin” types, as I’m personally not a fan of baggy or cloak-styled clothing for either male or female. So I do apologize for that, haha The drawing is not complete and needs a lot of touching up, including the line art :)

I “remade” the design above into a more clearer to see art style, and made the proportions a bit more normal haha. Same design as above! :) This one should be top 12 or top 100. Personally, I think glamours and mounts and tools should alternate between top 100 and top 12, to make things interesting! Anyways, design will be colored soon!

Thank you everyone! :) And see, that is something I wanted to touch on also. Whoever on the dev team is making these illogical decisions for mounts and rewards...seriously should look at other positions that better suit their tastes. Because a prehistoric dinosaur as a CRAFTER Mount, makes absolutely no dang sense. So, where developers fail, we should succeed, and give better feedback/suggestions. And a title? I think that is personally very insulting to the people who love to craft in your game, and craft seriously. Should at least reward a primary tool that is made out of ice or something as glamour, and have the ice shine bright during a craft and out of a craft. (Lightbulb moment!)

Point is...the rewards are insulting in my opinion, and lack creativity. That is where I hope this thread will thrive in, and maybe, we can give the developers suggestions they can add to Ishgard Ranking in future seasons. Also! The whole “the rewards have to suck or people will whine” does not hold up. Top 12 and top 100 prevents previous winners from winning again during that season. Giving thousands of people a chance to win.

If anyone has any reward suggestions or designs, please please post them! I want to see what everyone else has come up with!

I feel the 500k achievement mount was a missed opportunity. What would be brilliant would be a DoL Harvesting mount (sort of similar to WoW's Sky Golem), so we can harvest mats on the go without dismounting/remounting. It shouldn't be that difficult to code via a special mount action. It's a tiny QoL but I know I'd be crafting and gathering non-stop to get my hands on something like that.

The Pteranodon mount feels like they just took a spare unused mob or mount model from their files and tossed it in as a reward to save time designing a real one. You'll also notice that the Hunt got a Dinosaur too. Possibly they planned something with dinosaurs, scrapped it and are using the models as free content filler. They have nothing to do with crafting. It's a very lazy approach.

I hope the leaderboards show the devs that endgame crafting is actually popular. We have a top 100 on every realm, with a huge number of crafters dipping their toes into Expert, even though there's only a title to gain from it. It's undoubtedly a success and we've shown them the desire for challenge was not just a whim. Just imagine how far it could go with desirable rewards and further tweaks and improvement to the system.

How exactly is it weird that a city-state that's recently made peace with a bunch of scalekin ends up having a scalekin mount as reward from content related to said city-state?
The logic of "The mount isn't crafter-related" could just as easily be applied to the glamour idea posted by the OP. How exactly is some casual/revealing set of clothing related to crafting? Is it because it happens to have some goggles and a belt with a couple of tools hanging off of it?

Also the achievement isn't supposed to be easy. Since it doesn't specify a time frame in which it needs to be obtained (unlike "The Height of <class>" achievement noting the second phase), it's supposed to be a long term goal.

That said, the design of the flying WVR mount is funny/neat.

OP was nice enough to draw really well detailed art designs of possible rewards we could get, and i personally like both her glamour and her Mount. By the way. You are missing the point entirely. The Mount has absolutely nothing to do with the creativity of crafting. Would you want a Snake mount for reaching level 80 on Miner and Botanist? It doesn’t make much sense when you think about it, and doesn’t fit the theme. Let’s see YOU come up with something more innovative, creative, and fun than Tren can. Sorry, but she has my vote.

Whether you have an issue with her “revealing” outfit (I’ve seen roe men in thongs. That’s revealing.) or not, is irrelevant, since it seems you have an issue with female outfits showing stomachs. Kinda hoping Tren posts a nice male design soon, would be interesting to see that.

I agree. The mounts to me just look boring and uninteresting. I mean, I’m sure there’s a few souls out there that enjoy it, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for crafters at all. I have high hopes for this thread, because honestly they did good with the expert recipe rng approach. It’s actually kind of strategic. If they can do that, let’s hope they can listen to us further and give us better rewards as the seasonal rankings roll along.

You're right. The mount isn't a crafter-related design. I never stated that it is. I was giving the likely reason why SE could've decided to put a scalekin mount as reward from something related to Ishgard. Remember, plenty of dragons/drakes are considered scalekin. Dragons/drakes are deeply tied to the lore of Ishgard. The Restoration of Ishgard is, well, kinda tied to Ishgard (Y'know, we're restoring part of the city and all).

Where did I state that I have an issue with the fact that the outfit is revealing? Or the outfit's design in general? I think it's an okay outfit, nothing outstanding, but cute nonetheless. My question was, how is it a crafting-related design? What about it distinguishes it from just a normal set of clothing?

Apologies, fellow cat. I think I misunderstood what you said and jumped to the conclusion that you thought her drawing was mildly offensive or something of that nature. I lurk in General Discussion and Housing a lot, and I see a lot of snowflakes especially in general, get so worked up over female characters wearing swimsuits and nier bottoms. So I just assumed that’s what was going on here, that is all.

In all fairness, most of the mounts and items included in the game don’t really pertain to the theme at hand. Mostly random objects chosen by the devs. In expert recipes case however, it’s important to actually put some more thought into the rewards you give out to your top ranking players. I don’t care for competing this season because I don’t care for a title. But if it turns out there are more stylish and fun rewards like OP suggested, you’ll be seeing me in top 12. The point is giving your players who worked hard at understanding expert recipes mechanics, rewards with a lot of thought and style to it. Like I would really love it if top 12 was a weaver kart like OP suggested. That is expert recipe worthy.

Yea, I'm perfectly fine with revealing clothes, I just think OP's design is better fit for something like the Gold Saucer, or casual clothing recipes, like the Dalmascan set.

A gear reward idea, while not exactly unique, would be something like having a DoH glamour set as a reward, one without any class restrictions, so people can show off that they've reached a certain rank while on combat jobs.

Can only agree here, the fact that the ranks only reward a title, which I have hundreds of, wasn't appealing enough for me to even bother. This goes for the "Craft 100 expert items during phase two" as well. "The Nest's Own <class>" just sounds kinda boring to me.
