I stopped playing MMO's or any multiplayer games altogether, but I love FF so I had to play XIV.
Bought the started edition for PS4 and nothing to say, I just love it, so obviously I wanted the whole package, so decided that soon I would buy the complete edition for PC because I need to play it with M&K and this... is where issues come to life.
Square Enix has no idea how to support a game and/or to provide a reliable payment system. First of all... no paypal? I learned MANY YEARS ago never to trust any online store that does not accept paypal! But even so I created a Visa card and associated with my account, next I go to the Mogstation to pay for a service (name change for my character) and it ASKS AGAIN to insert a visa card?!?!?!
What is this!? Where are we?! China?! AFRICA?!?!
Sorry Square, I won't spend another cent on you, I don't trust you. First no paypal and then what did you do with my visa card information?!? Of course next thing I do is delete my card on my bank. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!
And no support at all on the supposed "support page" and even less on the forum. Asked an important question regarding game time between PS4 and PC and NOT A SINGLE reply. Support team doesn't go to the forum I guess, which makes it useless.
There is too much shady stuff going on with this game I swear, I wonder how much of it is even legal.

There is nothing shady about a site not saving your credit card info. It actually makes theft more difficult because if someone gets their hands on your account they will be unable to buy anything due to not having your credit card info.
Also you can use Paypal to buy Crysta, and Crysta can be exchanged for services like a name change, extra retainers or buying store outfits/mounts/etc. Crysta can be bought on the Mog Station. -

Why are you lying? It only states the monetary value (and in the wrong currency which I have no way to choose!!!) and that I don't have enough crysta to buy it. -

Calm down man, there is nothing shady about how the mogstation works. Only perhaps inconvenient at times.
Your account is propably flagged as brittish, I have no idea if you can change it but knowing how rigid acount info is possibly not.
Indeed on the payment selection screen it doesnt say how much crysta is needed, but the next screen will and you can still cancel transaction there.
In euro its €1 is 100 crysta, so am guessing the value of crysta depends on your account location so that renaming you want would be 575 crysta
I prefer websites not to remember my credit card. And i dont care for paypal myself, why would i need a man in the middle when i can perfectly fine pay with a credit card myself.
Is paypal 100% free to use? Any costs would be charged to SE since. -

Paypal is the ONLY way to protect consumers. Any time something goes wrong they ALWAYS back me up and refund me the money.
It's been like that for 10+ years so I won't trust anything else. -

Credit card companies do the same though. if there is something dodgy about the transaction its cancelled and refunded. So Paypal is NOT the only way to protect customers.
One thing though dont ever do that with SE becausee your card/paypal will be refused from all further transactions if you ever ask for a refund on a transaction. -

Purchasing items online with a credit card is as safe as doing so with PayPal. It is also much safer for the customer if your card details are not saved, so SE are actually doing you a favour by not saving your information. Yes, it's a pain having to go get your card each time, but pretty much every safeguard in life requires you to spend a little extra time making sure you're safe.
As other posters have said, you can also use Paypal to buy Crysta. If you select to buy Crysta, the amounts and prices are detailed.
Having read your replies, however, and seen firsthand your rudeness to people trying to help you, I must say I am hoping you decide this isn't the right game for you. -

Allow me to introduce you to Revolut (though one of its competitors like N26 I am sure are fine, Revolut just happens to be the one I use).
- I can transfer money into my Revolut account instantly from my bank account.

Not only that but if you're worried you going somewhere your wallet might get stolen, you can leave your bank card in a safe place and only take your Revolut card with you and with only the money you need on it (and they are quick to send out replacement cards anywhere in the world)
- There is a free tier, so you only have to pay for the physical card if you want one (and they're only like £6 if I recall)
It just works as a nice buffer to my main bank account and has some extra levels of security, especially for shopping online or travelling. And doesn't require integration like PayPal does because it uses Mastercard. It's also how I pay for stuff on this game.
Even if you don't go for that kind of service, I think the point being, PayPal isn't the only solution and may not even be the best for it. The fact it's not supported by as many places is one of the drawbacks of PayPal versus a Mobile bank like Revolut, Mondo or N26. There's probably other methods of being safe with your money online that I am not aware of too.
