Considering the animation on these is repeated twice and then just stops... is there any reason these aren't just looped or turned into special emotes so you can be permanently reading or feasting? Seems so odd to make them one timer things.

I was very disappointed to find out they are not persistent emotes.
Where do you even get them a fc mate said it was in skybuilding but I don't see it there I just see the parsol and a new hair style in it.
You get the read emote from scripts you get the bread emote from the kupo of fortune card
You could also simply buy it off the marketboard, if you have the gil
I hope they consider changing it to loop over and over. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that it wasn't looping as well :(
But eitherway, I'm glad we are getting a lot of different emotes recently!
I got the /bread-emote and was disappointed. It's fake-eating, you see them taking a bite and chewing but the bread is still whole without a missing bite in it. I was like "What are you chewing at? The damn bread is still in your hand!"
After playing Aion, I could say the same exact thing because they at least remove chunks of it per bite but tbh..... I don't mind it being whole, you could just say they're taking smaller bites out of it. The emote itself is fine as it is in that notion for what we have, but not looping feels like such a waste.
I bought the read emote hoping it would loop but NOPE I feel like I wasted a million. Really bad design since we actually do need more looping emotes. I dont' want to afk with boxing or sweating, this would of been a game changer.
Yeah, when NPC's make use of emotes out in the game world they're always looped - so it'd be nice to have that same ability as well.
Also, why isn't the /insist looping as well? I would love more continuous talking emotes, just like /scheme and /reprimand
I'm deeply disappointed that the eating emote isn't /nom. :<
I wonder is there any way to loop it via macro ?
I was very disappointed to find out /bread and /read were not persistent, I really hope they change these along with /tomestone and /converse.
Same. I really want to be able to do /read for extended time. Bread I get it, the bread should nom down to nothing eventually if it was looped and since it doesn't nom down? A case can be made for non-persistent. I want to not have to resort to scholar/summoner if I want to hang out reading a book.
yes! yes please!!
I love both the new /read and /bread emotes and they look perfectly like they ought to loop and be persistent but instead they just stop.
They would both be lovely idle animations. Please consider changing them to looping emotes! They would be the first persistent emotes that work sitting down too which would be amazing.
(also, /tomestone would be great for a looping emote too)
+1 loop animation for both
Agreed. I wish they would loop it continuously.
I got the bread emote today. Not only is it disappointing that it doesn't loop, it also stops very abruptly : /
I did try what someone suggested by making a macro that is /wait 14 for the /read emote and while it does work.... there's no way really to cancel it when you move out after using the macro. So you'll randomly pull the book out at another 14 second interval just because. I honestly see no reason this shouldn't just be regularly looped.
The /read emote is very...disappointing? Besides the lack of looping, there's no page turn, no nothing. It looks more like you're a priest reading scriptures than actually reading.
it does say you "read a verse" on the emote LOL. Idk, I won't be that picky about it since we just finally got a read emote after all this time... but looping is a must. Personally I like the little "oh my" movement my character does during the emote like they found something spicy.
So pretty much is 14 lines of /bread <wait.11> for seamless and by ending it with whatever way you can repeat it :/
So there is no way to forward it to next macro?
I'm grateful for the emote. That said... add my bit of disappointment to the "why is this not looped?" pile.
As mentioned above, this isn't the only emote that could benefit from looping... and hell, I'd like to know the reason some aren't looped.
/scheme and /sweat go on forever but the basic conversation (think it might be /converse) emote doesn't?
...Why?
Nope. It stops there and it's also nonstop in that one macro so you'll repeat it even when you wanted to stop.
I agree and disagree with converse. While I would like it to be looped, I know we see it occasionally from dialogue NPC's give us and it's just a one time thing. I would like to think this gives them the excuse to give us the emotes for things that are constant like the merchant shop seller pitching emote you can see some NPC's doing at their ships like in the Azim Steppe. Or some more constant conversation emotes you see NPC's doing. Then again, if you just /scheme then /smile, this works just as well. But yeah, /bread and /read should definitely be looped seeing as they're already looped twice to begin with. No reason to abruptly stop them when they clearly continue and can continue flawlessly.
+1 for me here.
Mao passed on /read emote. Mao eats books, nots reads thems. Books TASTY (and furnitures and sticks and cutlery....).
I can understand bread or apple not being a persistent emote for example. But reading? Sure you need to stop sometime to do something else for your eyes but still..
(I know i know its a videogame.... but eeeeeeh....)
I'm 100% with you on this one. There are honestly quite a few emotes which should be persistent.
Apple, Riceball, Bread, Read, and Tomestone are just a few of them.
