So Sapphire Weapon was name dropped, so does this mean we're also getting Emerald, Diamond, and possibly Jade Weapon?
I know Jade Weapon is a bit of a stretch since it was from Before Crisis, but it would be a cool twist.

I'm not too sure about Jade but Emerald and Diamond are very possible given the color coordination going on with the Au'ra group where we have one green one, one blue one, and two white haired individuals. SE is practically beating us other the head with which ones are going to be featured - though they could pull a fast one and switch out Emerald for Jade or combine the two for one fight ala what happened with this tier's Eden's Gate's second encounter.
We have 3 ex left for this xpac, so they might give us jade, diamon and emerald, and also get saphire being one shot (again) by some lame cannon for a meme, poor saphire
I wouldn't expect more than 2 other fights (one of which will clearly be Sapphire)
3.x had three "side trials" of Sephirot, Sophia, and Zurvan
4.x had Byakko, Suzaku, Seiryu
SE loves their patterns and all.
Unless we get a double battle again, it will be maximum only 3 more weapons that we will see that are most likely next as mentioned Sapphire Weapon , Emerald Weapon and Diamond Weapon, exactly like before the 4 animal spirit bosses - one, that was just a dungeon boss, no trial battle
I see Jade Weapon becoming rather a dungeon boss as part of the story questline
We're only going to be getting Sapphire and Emerald (Or Jade), Nothing else. The 5.5 trial will be story related, or maybe it'd be 5.4 and 5.5 would be the final weapon, we'll see - That's how its always been. Heavensward we had The warring triad, Thordan and Nidhogg. Stormblood we had Shinryu, Suzaku, Byakko and seriyu, and Tsukiomi. Shadowbringers will be Hades, Ruby weapon, Sapphire weapon, Emerald/Jade weapon, and one other story related fight. calling it now.
They might do what they did with the previous expansions, though.
Originally, it's Byakko, Suzaku, Seiryu and Genbu. But Genbu was the last boss of a dungeon.
I also recall that you had a solo duty in order to progress through the Warring Triad questline either before or after fighting Sephiroth.
I'm assmuming it's going to be the same thing with the weapons. Ruby, Emerald and Diamond being main trials while Jade potentially being in a solo duty, side dungeon or something else among those lines.
Genbu was only a dungeon boss because that dungeon was required to unlock the others. We've already unlocked ruby weapon, that boat has sailed, because this expansion all of the dungeons we're getting are MSQ based, which means this wont be happening.
A solo instance might be a possibility but i HIGHLY doubt it - Ultima is one of the few fights in the game that the WoL didn't canonically fight solo, and so we can assume Ruby wasn't either considering Gaiuses claims that it was just as powerful, if not more so than Ultima was, so naturally the WoL would bring along help, so it wouldn't make sense for one of the weapons to be a solo instance.
I meant more in the sense of: Setting aside FFXIV, you had Byakko, Suzaku, Seiryu and Genbu. So if they planned only three trials, their way of including all four was through making one of em part of a dungeon that ties the story/characters together, as it would be weird to have only Byakko, Suzaku and Seiryu with no mention of Genbu.
My guess is that 5.3 won't feature any of the Weapons as a Trial. Traditionally, we have a Story Trial in 5.3, and with it being said to be the climax of the Shadowbringers story I don't think it would be a Weapon that hardly featured in the main Scenario. (Suspecting 'Ardbert' instead.)
They already said Sapphire is next, yes... but my guess is that in good old FF VII Tradition, Sapphire is dealt with via cutscene, maybe Solo Duty, leaving Emerald and Diamond as proper Trials.
I'd rather fight Sapphire because we don't fight it in FF7, also the blue and green haired au ra sppearto be more throwaway characters, with the 'diamond' haired siblings being the focal point, I expect they'll survive.
It would also be nice to have red, green and blue gwibers, we already have a white one.
You guys are missing the slowdown in content. I think we ll be getting at least 1 less EX trial for Shadowbringers, in line with the new pattern of content reduction. So I would guess one more weapon as EX trial, and maybe another as solo duty or dungeon boss built into the main story, since the ruby weapon is a branch off of MSQ anyways.
I don't think they'd dare to make a Patch without farmable EX Content.
2 things happened in SB that can throw a curve ball and we could have all the weapons.
1. We had 2 dungeons connected to the 4 lords storyline so very possible to have one weapon be a dungeon boss.
2. Hildabrand trial. We had an additional trial and it might be possible to have all weapons have a trial fight, since we haven't heard hide nor tail of Hildy or Nashu.
We also have a mystery trial with the Bozja Citadel questline that already has thrown a curveball in SE's predictable pattern. So anything is possible.
Considering how the new MSQ talk about new Ultima weapons we will probably have to fight one in a dungeon. Probably the last dungeon this expac.
Leaving the other 3 to be side bosses.
we also have the new relic/eureka Trial in BozjaGabranth probablywhich has a Extreme
I mean we get a trial every patch. No reason to think we'd get one less EX.
I go by the reasoning of we fight solo unless stated otherwise, due to the absurd mental hoops you have to go through to try and fit other adventurers into it.
Ifrit: everyone is tied up and taken where the hell the other 3 echo users come from, hm/EX can be fine either way.
Titan: Y'shtola barely was able to send us alone and had to wait until she can strengthen it for herself to use
Garuda: we landed with just Cid and Alphinaud, how do 3 other people get through her storm barrier to joins us and disappear mid way fighting her.
Utima: actually stated to have help
Mog: either way can happen due to how to get there
Levi: again either is possible
Ramuh: challenged us on the spot with only scions around, 7 adventurers getting through the slyphlands at that time, yea no.
Shiva: Nope just solo, Ysayle never ever mentions you beat her up with people on top of how we got there I doubt 7 heretics decided to join us to take down their saint.
Nabriales: Nope no time to gather 7 people that would have to all conveniently die before we leave.
Vishap: actually stated to have help
Coils: 4 people knew about it until after it was dealt with and even then only city leaders have the knowledge outside Scions (though Ruby Weapon has just blurred this a bit but until details about it can't say anything)
That is just ARR, let alone Warring Triad/Thordan/Ravana/Nidhogg of HW, 4 lords/Lakshmi/Susano (which they actually joke about)/Tsukiyomi of SB, Titania/Innocence/Hades of ShB.
It is a lot of hoops to try and justify canonically we had 3-7 people there to help us so I tend to go story wise we do it solo but gameplay wise we do as a group.
I'm guessing Sapphire next patch as a dungeon or solo duty boss. I'd be surprised if Sapphire was a trial over Diamond or Emerald. And we had one of the Four Lords as a dungeon boss so wouldn't be that odd.
Then Diamond and Emerald for the last two, in either order, as trials for 5.4 and 5.5.
