Decided to model a miqo'te dude in the dress! Here are some screenshots (I forgot the veil at first, sorry). Feel free to post screenshots of your ladies and gents in opposite clothing. /eyes/ I thought the waistline (torso area in general) on the miqo'te guy model was surprisingly good. (Edit: just a warning, you DO lose your dye job when you convert.)

Friggin adorable.
Meanwhile certain other gear released this patch have gender specific versions with no way to switch... Again...
Yay for arbitrary restrictions.
I don't necessarily mind some stylistic changes in a set between male and female. So long as it's not the old trope of 'normal armor on one gender bikini on the other' but usually the game's pretty even handed on that with a few outliers like the belly window on the dragoon ARR artifact gear.
I also don't mind races getting starting gear and hempen sets unique to them for flavor.
I am however against outright gender locked outfits and hope they stop adding them in the future. I get it saves on dev resources so I get WHY it happens but I'd prefer not to see it continue, and unlocking the restrictions as they have the time to is a step in the right direction.
I feel harassed by this koala you have on you, its too cute.
I need that men jacket btw i hope it works fine.
I agree with this. People want race restrictions removed from starter clothes, but I would love to see new sets of race based gear for each one instead. Even things like each race having different weapon-out stances for classes would be fantastic. Things to make your choice of race more than what type of fantasy human do you want to be would be well appreciated.
Btw does this mean that since I have the male wedding outfit I can go buy the wedding dress one from the scavenger or someone. (Meaning who can I buy them from)
This from the patch notes:
So sounds like it's a trade but I haven't looked in game.Quote:
During the quest "The Ties That Bind" you may select either a tailcoat or gown, regardless of the character's gender, when receiving items from the ceremony outfitter.
* You may exchange a tailcoat for a gown, or vice versa, by speaking with a Calamity salvager in Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, or Ul'dah. Exchanges can only be made with items from the same plan.
Imo, this’ll be good for us who switch between male and female characters, but prefer a item that fits only on males, expeditionary coat is amazing but it only fits males, so if that’s made unisex then I might swap back to F Au Ra for a bit.
But on the negative side, this will be a waking nightmare for people who hate hate healing female Miqo’te DRK’s in maid outfits, cause now we’ll have to deal with male Miqo’te DRK’s in maid outfits, fantastic.
(I always go to DRK in a maid outfit but feel free to swap it with anything else equally ridiculous in your opinion, within reason of course)
Something... That something being a compromise to make people overlook the rest of the arbitrarily restricted gear.
I have never asked them to lift the restriction on this robe and the bunny outfit, exactly because it was just that robe and the bunny outfit and not all the feminine and masculine outfits restricted to gender. So no I'm not just finding something else to gripe about.
I continue to gripe about the fact that their glamour restrictions is entirely random, a not just related to genders. Sometimes they decide to let male and female have full masculine outfits, sometimes it's the other way example being the Hellfire set from. Sometimes the outfits we are given share it's looks between tanks and DRG other times it's tank and healer, caster, ranged, melee.
But yeeh... Sorry for wanting robes and shirts for male characters, sorry for wanting jackets and pants for female characters and sorry for not being happy about compromises.
Leaked (or supposedly-leaked) images a while ago indicate that a number of outfits are being unlocked, including the expeditioner sets... and yes, the maid and butler.
(I'm looking forward to the female expeditioner and oasis sets, personally. Both are fairly gender-neutral anyway, and I think the tabard will look nice on my Elezen.)
If you use it frequently enough to be worth it, you're able to put it on a glamour plate then take the original item out of the dresser/armoire and trade it for the other item. The image on the plate isn't affected.
Not sure if I'll ever use the dress outside of specific screenshots-oriented glamours, but I do have an almost ready plate for stockings and shoes (whit only lacking white and black dyes).
Also glad for all my female characters players friends who finally got their tuxedos. I heard that along with wedding attires there are some other sets that are going to be unlocked in the future, so... looking forward for it, I guess.
Spite is the more accurate term. I'd even accept bitter. Petty is what I would call the the attitude of the entitled snowflake, who can't appreciate the dev time that goes into making these things happen. Petty is what I would be if I came into this thread for no reason other than to stomp on everyone's parade simply because I don't agree with the decision or the direction the wind is blowing.
They can't just pop out eight unique armor sets without reducing the number of new armor sets we get in total. So while I don't mind more RSE in theory in practice I'd rather not. This patch we got what, three new sets per role? (Raid, tomestone, crafted I think?) If they made one of those different for each race that would just mean less new sets to go around in general.
At the same time, limitations put a cap on the creations that can be made. You will inevitably, invariably, hit that limit. There is so much more you can do when you simply have... more to work with. I think that, running hand in hand with your "limitations drive creativity" also exists "possibility drives creativity."
I’d rather viera get hats
It's good to see you're enjoying the outfit. I wish more people did.
Unsurprisingly I have seen exactly one (1) male character wear the dress in game. Requests and praises are given for something that 99% of players will then treat as a worthless addition by never using it. It had to be done though, because those playing female characters liked how the tux looked and we all know how it goes when males get a nice exclusive glamour.
Love how this dress looks with dnc animations :3 so yea I'm grateful for this unlock and cannot wait for the others.
I also have a friend waiting on that butler set for female characters he has been jealous of it for years XD
