Ishgardian Restoration in 5.2

Ishgardian Restoration Update (Patch 5.21)

With this being our first real-time content, there were some points we’d overlooked at the time of Patch 5.1.

For concerted works, we had set a long waiting period to allow as many players to participate as possible, but this turned out negatively as large groups of players from other Worlds came to participate, causing congestion which prevented players from entering.

There was also an issue where concerted works occurred late at night, which made participation difficult for those who’d worked hard to turn in collectables. These were the result of oversights by development and operations teams, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused to our players.

This time, the next step will start as soon as the Stockpile Level is filled, allowing players who are actively contributing collectables to participate immediately. Work or school schedules may make it difficult to witness all stages of the Restoration, but the increased number of stages should provide more opportunities to participate compared to Patch 5.1.

The Diadem

We showed gameplay of the Diadem, which has been reborn into an exclusive area for Disciples of the Land.

Disciples of the Land can enter starting at level 10, and you can use it to level up because you can earn experience there. The content can be played solo, and Mission Ceruleum will no longer be necessary. You’ll also be able to use flying mounts to travel within the area.

Disciples of the Land can gather required materials for Ishgardian Restoration here. The gathered materials are appraised then processed into materials that can be used in crafting. You’ll also receive Skybuilders’ Scrips upon appraisal.

You can use the aetheromatic augur duty action in the new Diadem. Using this on a monster will allow you to obtain materials corresponding to the monster. It’s not something you can just use endlessly; a gauge will gradually fill as you gather, and you’ll be able to use it once per gauge bar.

Gathering points will appear in a cycle around the Diadem. These gathering points are unique to each player, so you won’t need to fight over them. Additionally, a gathering point where you can obtain rare materials will appear when certain conditions are met.

We also showed a new mount that will be added to the Ishgardian Restoration rewards, which can be seen in the video.

Kupo of Fortune

We previously mentioned there would be scratch-off tickets in Ishgardian Restoration. These will be implemented as Kupo of Fortune.

You can scratch off one of four spaces on the ticket, and will receive an item based on the mark that appears. The items you can obtain will be different for each card. Some of the items you can obtain include new glamour items and emotes!

Ishgardian Restoration (including the Diadem and Kupo of Fortune) will begin in Patch 5.21, which we’re planning to implement about three weeks after Patch 5.2.

I'm \interested to know how the Diadem works. I'm assuming we don't have to unlock it first (as you needed to do a quest at level 60? in Ishgard to open it up originally AFAIR).

For me it will be constant checking of progress to not miss fate

My ADD will be going into overdrive and I am going to be stuck in an endless loop of obsessively leveling crafting and gathering instead of catching up to ShB, lol!

It would have been helpful if the restoration project lasted months instead a few days.

I only just recently got into the restoration so I missed out on the previous concerted works. From what it sounds, it would seem I avoided some serious stress. I also never participated in the previous diadem, so this is all pretty new to me. However, I avoided this content mainly because of the huge pain in the asses that seem to be addressed in that live letter: Aggressive and truesight mobs, limited mount/flight access, sharing the area with combat classes; it felt like it was thrusting me back to the beginning of an expansion. I love rare mats. They give me incentive to gather and craft the recipes they belong to, but I strongly dislike content that limits the skills and abilities I spent a crap load of time obtaining.

As for the concerted works, I am looking forward to participating this time around. They really should have known better that each player is like an ant, capable of communicating with its colony to bring in the masses. I still think that if these things show up during the work week, the complaints are going to continue.

Kupo of fortune sounds like a smaller version of Wonderous Tails. Nothing wrong with that, and the new eating bread emote is locked behind it. Needless to say, I will be doing my scratch tickets at every opportunity!

I'm sure there will be a short quest at the Firmament to unlock it since that's how the game introduces players to any new content. The original quest to open up Diadem was also very short ("Hey, adventurer! There's a new place to explore. Talk to the guy at the airship landing if you want to learn more.")

It sounds like they learned a lot from the initial Concerted Works and the changes look good. We'll have to see how they end up working once in the hands of players. I'm glad the Firmament will remain restricted from cross world players and that they're adding in the forced log out to those who have AFK'd in there an excessive amount of time. There will still be some players getting around it but it will help reduce the congestion issue.

Diadem doesn't look like anything special, though the Auger will probably make it feel a bit more fun at first.

Kupo of Fortune is going to be my downfall. I'm guessing that's where the Order Yet Undeciphered Orchestrion Roll is going to come from and I've been wanting it since Heavensward.

I'll do it enough to get the rewards that interest me, and then forget all about it again.

Never did go back for the mount and hair from the first time around, come to think of it. Guess I'll get those while I'm at it.

I still think they're going about Ishgard Restoration the wrong way. Concerted Works shouldn't be a single FATE. This just takes the issue in the other direction and makes it so only people who are contributing right now can do it. With this change, you can contribute and still miss out if it's still far off.

Lack of foresight has always been one of the biggest problems with these devs.

I mostly like the new additions, though there's pretty much zero chance of the ranking system not being hot garbage after they stated it's going to favor quantity over quality.

They've also stated that expert recipes are going to be important to ranking well, which ultimately is likely to have more of a negative effect on legitimate players as they while can't use macros to craft them quickly it's almost certain that bots will be able to churn them out with no real issues.

I doubt you're going to need to be so fervent in your attempts at this, this time around simply due to the release of Savage - A lot of people will be pre-occupied with savage on day 1 atleast and so ishguard rest will be slow going on day 1 for most servers, unlike 5.1 that didn't have much to hinder it and the only people who wern't doing it right away were the hardcore of the hardcore, doing ultimate day 1 instead.

This change does not change much for those that simply dont have the time to play at that certain time. He said that the next step would start right when its finished..does that mean the next step to gather items too, or only the fate? Because if it all starts right away then no matter how many steps you have there, those that have a lot of time migth have finished it all up..which in the worst case might mean that people now will miss everything..the timer at least gave it a bit more time..

Also in a interview he stated how this is meant to be great for the hard workers..which means that anyone that is more casual or that has less time will be having a bad time..if it does not change much then honestly this content is a failure to me and not much different from handing in stuff for Rowena..
