Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: They put a known-to-us cute elf girl in the hallmark colors for Valentines day, placed closer to the questgiver... against unknown highlander and elf boys, one in a garish yellow and the other in a color nowhere associated with the holiday.
Yeah, she was going to win, even if her idea was terrible.
They split the opposition vote...
Those who wanted someone not Astrid had two choices.
Not to mention the little faith I have in this community to pick an adult male winner over an underage, or barely legal at best, female character.... and that's assuming they even got past picking based only off the color of the clothing.
It's hard to say.
Between Rodrigault and Bert, it's possible they received more votes overall between them - but unless the development team release the exact numbers we'll never know for certain.
Since it was 100% across the board and we don't have actual numbers, kindda gotta wonder if there was an actual choice or just the illusion of choice, but there really was only 1 outcome. I could honestly see this happening knowing some of the shenanigans that happen behind the scenes.
i didnt even read the quest texts i just picked the outfit i liked the most
I knew she was going to win for the sole reason that she was cute, pink hair, red heart on her face, her outfit color was red. She was basically a walking Valentine's day so these results didn't shock me.
Honestly, I was open to voting for someone other than Astrid. But after reading the ideas for all three on how to help the guy's love life, hers was the best, in my mind. Not that it was a GOOD idea, mind - romancing your customers sounds like a pretty sketchy business model. Still better than Bert's idea (which is to take up a hobby, for someone whose free time is already extremely limited) or Rodrigault's (to isolate oneself from others completely).
So, she got my vote.
Rodrigault's idea wasn't intended to isolate Ywain, though. It was to help him figure out exactly what he was looking for - since Ywain didn't answer any of the questions posed to him to any significant degree. It also fit his character the most overall, since the man is prone to being serious and dutiful. Thoughtful reflection was something that would have likely led somewhere - and granted him the confidence and clarity of mind that the other two routes simply did not provide.
Apparently the other two outcomes were data mined, so we know that they were created and what all the dialogue was for each of the other two possibilities, including if you did or did not initially select them. So to that end, I'm more inclined to blame the community over Square.
Though it is POSSIBLE they created the endings for the other two, then had Astrid win everywhere so they don't have to write events in future years to include the other two... that would be playing the long-con game.
its just an ingame event with no permanent lasting effects on the game not sure why everyones getting their panties in a twist over which character won just pick the one you like the most and move on with your life
Honestly, I thought all of their advice was pretty bad, so I just rolled a die.
The event is meaningless and temporary. Not having to dye clothes is forever.
Plus we’ve already known Astrid for a few events now. And of the options, talking to girls while on the job seemed a better but not perfect solution to the scenario than meditating under a waterfall or building cabinets to show you’re a dependable man. Besides, apparently the other two options aren’t successful in the end either.
Why do people keep bringing up Astrid’s age? What does it matter if she’s “underaged”? It’s not like the event is setting her up to end the day with her ankles behind her ears, and Eorzea always seemed pretty lax when it comes to their social and cultural stance on such parings anyway.
I didn’t vote for her, but please stop passive-aggressively projecting your insecurities onto those who did.
Are you guys still on about this? At this point I think people need to calm down. It's just some forgettable holiday event.
An event with a VERY odd conclusion involving a set of options apparently heavily skewed in a specific direction. Wouldn't know since I'm just how hearing about the thing since I've been out of the game for a bit.
A majority of servers in favor of one aspect would be understandable, given the aesthetic sensibilities of many who play the game, but every server? I dunno
This goes way beyond SE, my friend. This goes straight to the top.
I honestly don't care who won. I just picked the elf guy because he was kinda cute and had my favorite color....and also his choice seemed like the best.
But honestly. If SE does this again, it should be between a miqo'te kid and an au ra kid and the little elf girl. That way its fair and we have 3 adorable characters to pick from instead of the two least used race/gender type in the game...well beside highlander but he had the ugly face.
They should ALL have a color associated with Love Day as well so we don't have the "Oh I just picked based on the color I liked."....but then when I think about it...people will still pick based on what character is more cute...eh.this idea is bad from the start.

Oh my God... What have we uncovered here?! Should we fear for out safety?
It's nothing to do with insecurity. It's no secret this community has a huge bias towards cute, young, female characters. It's literally why female Miqo'te and Au Ra are significantly popular over any other group. That and it didn't help that the other two options were older, male characters no one knows about.
What if the other two choices were a Viera and Roe? Think it'll been voted better?
Her age isn't really important, but she's still the "cute" female character that you already know, uses the colors traditionally associated with valentine's day, and the other 2 choices are grown men (Who frankly aren't even attractive) and who you don't know and don't have very desirable colors for a valentine's glamour, plus a lot of people have already admitted to just choosing Astrid because they wanted red clothes and couldn't even be bothered to read the site that says that the outfits are dyeable, let alone actually read the quest dialogue and make an informed decision.
A lot of people voted for a color and a "cute" girl, and not an idea.
I found all of their ideas to be pretty bad.
Astrid's seemed like a pretty sketchy proposal. Bert wanted the guy to get a hobby and maybe then Ywain would have something to talk about with someone. Rod's suggestion to go soul searching but the goal was to get Ywain a date.
In the end I went with Astrid b/c her idea was at least one that directly would put Ywain in contact with someone, whereas the other two it was sorta dubious whether Ywain would even talk to someone at any point.
This is despite the fact that I actually find Astrid to be rather awkward and creepy (as all Elezen children who are not the Leveilleur twins are).
I do hope we get to see some storyline in future events with Bert the Beloved and Rod, hopefully not in a voting contest though.
its true i picked astrid cuz she was wearing 1 of my favourite colors if 1 of the other 2 wore red id have picked them instead and no it wasnt cuz im lazy i buy dye alot so think what u will the event didnt really interest me.
All this Astrid salt and i'm over thinking...
"What's up Lisette, that time of the year again? What that, your sister is in a contest this year? Say no more, i'll help her out, we've been friends for awhile, so a little help is no problem at all. Besides, I can't say no to to a pretty elf girl, if it helps your sister, bonus."

All I know is I picked the blue one because the guy gave the only good argument. Plus blue is better and the thing is dyeable so it literally doesn't matter. *shrugs*
Yes, and that's all true and fine, but I'm specifically addressing the numerous comments I've seen on these forums and on reddit where the poster makes it a point to emphasize the fact that Astrid is "underaged" (instead of just saying "young") with the connotation that Chris Hansen may show up and ask you to take a seat if you voted for her.
Yeah, I voted forRodriguezRodrigault too because his idea seemed to be the most practical to me.
To me it's really just an issue that Astrid won everywhere because it kinda makes the whole event and time spent on it feel a bit pointless. So hopefully SE is reading to find out why the results were so lopsided and keep that in mind if they try this sort of event again in the future.
That said, Astrids advice does seem in-line with behaviours of someone I've worked with... he's spend a lot of time in meetings with HR.
So much HQ Salt just because Astrid won.
Personally Glad i voted for her. Rod came off as a bit of a snob, talks down at you after you picked someone who wasn't him. and Bert was a derp.
