People would get angry.

A great April Fool's joke would've been that the 2.0 client was ready much earlier than anticipated and that they would shut servers down the following Monday and start moving us over there <_<

That or have the reporters in the three nations run by and yell "The Garleans Are Coming!!!" >_>

2.0 is on schedule....April Fools.

That would be nothing short of hilarious!

An April fools sounds fun but people would get mad if it changed something currently in the game.

I could image an NPC who gives a story about a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow deep in Mor Dhona. When arriving there, maybe an empty treasure chest. ^^

Hate April Fools.. People just use it as an excuse to be total asses to each other.

There was an XI site, wiki maybe?, that put up some kind of virus warning on their page for the day.... Iirc it didn't go over well, people were scared.

They give out an item, they warn you that this item is not for your use, and that any one person who uses it on themselves rather then passing on the goodwill (item) to another will suffer a terrible curse.


Item: Cursed Opo Opo hand: Grants the user a 25% run speed bonus and 50% exp bonus for 12 hours

If you use it on yourself your hands become Opo Opo hands for 12 hours... but at least you will be fast! .. no you don't get the exp bonus.

We have one. It went in with the Easter event. In a extravagent conspirecy against you, they told everyone but you, thus making you our fool.

If it was up to me I'd have done the merge on the 31st/1st, then as soon as the first hit, post that they accidentally deleted everyone's chars, but would give everyone a months Free game time in compensation.

thats brutally mean, but it would be great to read all the forums post that spm the forums immediatly.

"Erase" everyone's gil then tell us you can't fix the error because the server doesn't keep track of gil just like how it never kept track of synths for achievements before they were implemented. :rolleyes:

I think SE needs to hold off on the April Fool event. In April 2013 they should send out 100,000,000 gil to our inboxes.....then as soon as we withdraw it, we get a message saying "APRIL FOOLS!". With confetti, of course.

Everyone logs into the game April 1st..to see Dalmund blocking like 75% of the sky overhead, the droning sound of a massive celestial object barring down overhead as oppressive to hear as it is to see. The end is nigh...

Everyone logs back in April 2nd, following a brief 'emergancy maintenance' that forces people to log out of the game, to revert it back to what it is now... nah, nah, not yet..

Take things a little further.. for that one day, all Retainers just vanish. You try to call your Retainer? Get the message.. "We're sorry, [Insert Name] has taken a temporary leave of absence to visit [insert some area we dont have in game yet, like something the Minstrel mentions] and leave it that.. then they all reappear the next day. No harm, no foul. People may get a little bent out of shape for it, but its a single day. Hell, we basically lost a full day with the server merge, atleast then we could still play lol

lol, I was actually thinking something similiar to that effect, such as Yoshida making some sort of remark about his health having gone under very bad condition, having to step down as Director and Tanaka being reinstated as Director for FFXIV. Of course, being that 2.0 was never Tanaka's vision, it would be figured he would inform us the project is to be scrapped immediatly. But hey, he'll let us keep the Goobbue!

Gosh!!! Rina get it right!

They could just put DL gear in an NPC instead for 10m and see how many people buy it. When you try to equip it it turns into a piece of ridiculous clown gear that you can't take off for 24 hours and in big colorful letters it says APRIL FOOLS with a nice <call5> to accompany it.

Not to mention your title is now April Fool...can't change it for 24 hours either lawl!
