Dungeon Queue Penalty

Please remove the 30 minute time penalty for queuing for missing queue's or having to abandon a duty. I can only speak for myself but having IRL things that come up takes priority so missing queue's. I feel like getting penalized for such things is not right, at least not for an entire half an hour. Im sure I'm not the only one who has proposed this. Now lets hear all the troll comments? "Well then don't have a life then?!" Welp, sorry but some of us have families and jobs and such and aren't all single living in their mothers basement cramming hot pockets in their mouths and guzzling 2 liters of Mountain Dew by the minute at the age of 25. Sorry try harder trolls! GOTEEM 2EZ! BEATYATOIT!

If you miss out or leave 3x in row then you should not que, its that easy. For leaving the penalty should be AT LEAST the remaining time for the duty and not just 30 min. Ppl rather leave then even try... For missing the initial que into the dungeon, yes, id say we need an seperate counter for that and leaving at least.

If you're having to miss a queue because of a RL incident, I'd hope you'd be more focused on dealing with that for the next 30 mins or so rather than fussing because you're locked out of the duty finder in a game for a little while

There was a scourge of ppl dropping queue way back when that caused all kinds of issues for those of us actually tryin to play the game, thus the penalty was implemented. It will not be going away

In addition I'm in my 40's with a high hour full time job, kids, mortgage, 2 car payments, thus my leisure time is far too valuable waste on queue skippers..whatever the reason

You have to miss a queue pop 3 times within a 24 hour period to get a 30 minute penalty. If you’re having to miss it for IRL things, perhaps queue when you aren’t so busy outside of the game? 30 minutes isn’t that big of a deal. Certainly not something to get this angry about.

The penalty for missing one que is going back to the end of the line - seems fair. A bigger penalty for someone who repeatedly ques for things and doesnt respond when they pop(which remember, gives you a whole 45 seconds to do)? Still seems fair. A penalty for leaving a run in progress? Also fair. In each of these instances, youre not just affecting yourself. Youre also making things harder on the other people in your group/que, and making the system work harder to accommodate you. We all have things come up in life. The system will actually let you afk in an instance as long as 10 minutes before it kicks you. If you communicate with the group, they might be happy to let you sit afk for a bit while you sort things out. If youre going to be afk more then 10 minutes, then you really arent getting a 30 minute penalty. Youre getting a "however many minutes are left when i get back" penalty. There are hundreds of things you can do in game for 1-20 minutes while you wait out such a penalty.

Solution is a “penalty removal token” that can be bought from the MOG store, perhaps $2.99 a shot.

They already give you three chances before they penalize you. In all the years I've played I've never had something important just pop out of nowhere up 3 times in a day that I had to miss a que for. If you're that busy that day then you shouldn't even be prioritizing the game to begin with and focus on the issues you need to address irl.

If you truly have a real life emergency, you'll likely be longer than 30 minutes anyway. So what difference does it make?

Without the penalty, people would constantly leave dungeons they don't like.

Youre right. $2.99 is way too cheap. You might be able to get 5-10 times that much. While theyre at it, add Fast Pass. Activate the token, and whatever you que for next automatically puts you at the front of the matchmaking line. Charge 'em $99.99 for the privilege.

I paid five dollars to run Sephirot Extreme synced and the whole group quit like 5 seconds into the run. The players of this game are the worst, and im telling my credit card company to dispute that charge.

Actually... no, I never missed a queue because I had to go to the bathroom.
If I know (or suspect) that I'll be afk (and not be able to make it back as soon as I hear the queue pop) for more than a couple of minutes, I'll withdraw my queue - and if only out of consideration for my fellow players who shouldnt have to deal with me withdrawing in the last second, potentially sending them right back into a lengthy queue.

How is it "bad life advice" when people tell you to take care of any real life issues you might have before queuing for a duty? How is it "bad life advice" to say: "Hey, before you sit down to start play a game with other people, make sure you actually got the time for that!" And how is it bad advice to say "Well, if you did miss the queue because of something irl, maybe that was more important than the queue to begin with"?
You get 3 freebies each day - if you manage to be afk for 3 queues in a day, you probably should reconsider when you queue for stuff...

Grats though - if you're retired and have all day to play, not getting to run a duty shouldnt be to much of an issue. Theres plenty to do ingame that doesnt require the DF and you've got 23,5h left in the day to queue for dungeons. Or take care of anything irl that needs to be taken care of before you're ready to queue up.

The penalty exists because
1. People trolled the queue back when it wasn't there. You could literally have withdraws going for 30+ minutes and not be able to get into an instance.
2. People left any time they didn't get their preferred instances.

Yes, it's not nice when there's a legitimate reason for leaving, but it's necessary to have some penalty because of how it gets abused when there isn't.

If something RL comes up and it's important enough to leave, then just take the 30 minute penalty and work on something else until it's up. I'll do this even if it's just a toxic party that isn't worth my time, personally. RL comes first, and losing 30 minutes in a video game doesn't really matter in the end.

Lastly, you can ask the party to kick you to avoid the penalty. Just quickly explain the urgent thing that came up (like just 1 or 2 lines should be fine), and in my experience, most of them are understanding enough to dismiss you from the party.

The penalty exists to prevent trolls from screwing with the queue. People on tank jobs queueing and immediately declining over and over, making the queue a mess for everyone else. (source: it happened, which is why they added the penalty in the first place.)

This is the sad reality of things. Also, I've accidentally missed queues before because my turn comes up right when I have to afk for something, but I've never gotten a penalty for once or twice. Never missed three times before, but that's usually because if I've missed two queues, I've already realized I shouldn't be trying to do any dungeons. And I think the three strikes rule is fair when it comes to repeatedly missing a queue. If someone can't reach the 45 second countdown 3 times in a row, they aren't likely to make it any attempt after so all it would do is back up the queue even more and waste other people's times.

I think the penalty should be harsher. For example, if you queue for roulette main scenario, and get castrum instead of praetorium, and decide to quit the dungeon, you should be locked out of both for the day. Come back tomorrow and try again.

Many here have a very valid point. I don't know why you posted in the first place if aren't able to handle the opinions of others. No ones trolled you, but gave their honest opinion, which most pretty much agreed with. Expecting nothing but thumbs and everyone agreeing with you is just as much a pipe dream, as you wanting to back out of a queue any time you wish and not get penalized. People here want you to think about what you are asking for and how silly it is. I didn't see one angry post, just a person with a chip on their shoulder.

If you’ve got so much time on your hands then, why are you complaining about repeatedly missing a queue? And why is 30 minutes such a big deal? As you said, you have all 24 hours of the day. Clearly there’s no time crunch involved with regards to finishing your dailies, so that “lost” 30 minutes should be fairly inconsequential to you. Why are you so mad about it? Honestly, if anyone is being a “kid” around here, it would be you whining about something that can be easily avoided.

I love how those comments are already on the first page. You tell them the sitch, and they immediately say "why queue 3 times within 24 hrs to do thing when other thing you need to do!!!!"

Granted, the point made by others that actually address the question is valid; random people can be dicks, therefore they created an anti-dick measurement.....no pun intended (?)

But the life advice is too good. "Thing works for me, therefor I'm puzzled by your issue."

The point is that the game is already pretty lenient. You can drop up to 3 times before being penalized, and 30 minutes isn't even that long in the scheme of things

Of course sometimes stuff happens, but most of the time if you need to drop 3 times, you probably just need to get whatever is going on in your life settled first. The answer people are giving isn't "don't have a life", its "handle your life first, then play"

The penalty exists because players were trolling the system and inconveniencing others. To be honest, you sound like one of the trolls more than you sound like a retired person.

If you're old enough to be retired, you've lived long enough to learn how to manage your time and prioritize your activities. You're experienced enough to know to take that walk to the bathroom before you queue instead of waiting until after. You're wise enough to know that missing dungeon queues in a game is not a big deal and that someone disagreeing with you does not make them a troll.

Looks like you somehow failed to achieve any of that during your work career. Now you've got something to work on during your retirement years.

I'm wondering right now if OP is trolling because my brain is refusing to believe a retirement-age person could be this obtuse and pre-emptively calling everyone trolls. Or seemingly not actually reading the responses. But then, I've met people who love finding bullshit reasons to keep an argument going so who even knows?

The whole "I'm retired and have 24-hrs to play" thing kinda contradicts them supposedly having a life, so I'm going to lean troll until proven otherwise.

In case this is real though, everyone's point still stands: Take care of your damn life first and don't queue if you know you'll have stuff going on. Otherwise, learn to live with it. I only have a sparse few hours a night if I'm lucky and I freaking make do by learning to time estimate better.

P.S. Yes, I've missed a queue once or twice because I had to use the bathroom but not in the same day. Probably because it's simply a case of my bladder having lousy timing, lol!

Protip to OP: Taking No. 2s while queueing is a literally shitty idea.
