The Queue is just frustrating and tilting

im queuing for The Praetorium Quest and as of now it already took me 311 mins???! like is this game dead or what or something or wARSDT3fwgstergherscvtsweht4w5er7gsdrcfvsebyfnyg its taking me forever and ever and ever for just 1 f****** Quest i cant move on? at least do something?

Try to queue during your Data Center's prime time, or as a healer. The Praetorium is fairly popular, as it's part of a roulette that grants a boatload of XP.

Queues for a lot of things are dead but only through the night. If a main scenario duty took that long to fill in the daytime then yeah some thing's wrong. It should take less than 30 minutes during hours that people are awake.

If you've been waiting that long on your data center, then there is definitely something wrong. I've never had that particular queue take longer than half an hour or so (Worst case) as DPS, and I'm on Crystal, which is generally considered the least hardcore data center. You should consider opening a support ticket.

If you were in queue for 311 minutes.... something is very wrong....

I'm curious what language settings you are using.

If you happen to know a high level person who is willing to help, they can use the undersized party option to enter with you and mash all the bosses down solo for you. That avoids having to wait for matchmaking but this duty has so many long cutscenes I can understand if nobody volunteers their time. S-E aren't happy with this duty and a lot of stuff in the ARR base game which was rushed to very tight deadlines, but they can rarely justify putting resources into fixing old stuff. They are very gradually looking to improve the new user experience.

On Leivathan, in the US, if your profile is right. Three things I can think of:
a) You did it at a weird time, like, 4am on a weekday something. Even still, should have waited well under an hour. Especially if it was during the holidays.
b) You've got languages other than English selected. If you don't have 'E' picked, you're obviously going to have a bad time on NA servers. And if you have multiples picked, sometimes the game will try to make a German-speaking party anyway on the NA server, and it'll take forever to fill.
c) You've run into the thing that happens like 1 out of every 200 or so queues, where the system just borks for no apparent reason; and if you'd re-queued things would have proceeded as normal.

Almost sounds like bots had all instant servers filled or there is ddos attack causing it. I know 2 days ago during the afternoon I queued for heaven on high and was in queue for over an hour before I canceled it. longest ever had as dps for that dungeon was 45 minutes. something up with queue that long.

This has typically resulted in the queue filling, but getting stuck on a "reserving server" message or something.

For OP, not that it'll make a huge difference for the run, but, ffs, update your rings at the very least.

Also, yeah, this often turns out to be a language settings issue. You can probably even get a small jump if you join in progress, too, since there are some players that bail immediately on that run.

You have your language set to J only. Go to Duty finder, hit the cog at the top left and then in the language section make sure E is highlighted and then give queue another go.

This sounds like a bugged queue, but I had this sort of problem in 2013, when the game was fresh, in Sastasha too. I think me and my mate waited like 180 minutes for Sastasha until the point we turned off the game and ranted a bit why there are mandatory dungeons to the story. There comes a lot of different problems together, and this can make it even more difficult to get into a certain dungeon:

1) Bugs. They happen.
2) Very low population - as a Red Mage on my own, I wait more than 30 minutes. Realistically, it's up to 45 minutes on primetime on my server. Now this can exponentionally go up depending on how off your local time is compared to the prime time. When I was server hopping until I found my beloved Zodiark server, I was on Ultros - an U.S. server without knowing. As European, it was of course dead when I played.
3) When you queue for a specific dungeon, you always take longer than a Roulette. I think it might be because the game builds a team around your needs while a Roulette you are filled into a random Duty. This way it takes longer. You might have seen that e.g. the tank shows 1/2, and suddenly it's 0/2 again. Healers and DPS the same. And you wonder, why this is happening, why would the game deliberately take away matches that you desperately needed. It's because they are filled into a fitting roulette. It's like a friggin dexterity game, and some of the balls (player) jump out of the holes (your team) and land elsewhere. It takes ages to have 2/2 tanks, 2/2 healers and 3/3 DPS with all this juggling, almost like a slot machine that never matches until you hit the jackpot.
4) Constelations of the roles. Imagine, you are the last DPS spot. The party is almost formed, just one healer is missing. Now a healer is actually registering for a duty - hooray! But wait, he is premade with a DPS. So he is not matched into your party, because the DPS spots are full. Now imagine the same with a healer + tank, 2 healer premade, 3 DPS and a healer, etc. There might be 15 healer and 12 tanks ready, but in constelations not suitable for the current matchup as they bring their friends and those would exceed each role. So the matchmaker assigns them to different dungeons, basically starving your queue. Until the point you have a single healer - like me - registering for MAIN SCENARIO DUTY, the tanks have been matched away already. And I leave the queue or get assigned elsewhere after a while to keep my waiting times lower.
5) On top of that, I personally do rarely register for MAIN SCENARIO ROULETTES myself, so while I am participating at Roulettes, I systematically prevent myself from being put into Praetorium, despite I am in Roulette, a single healer and ready to heal trough whatever instance it might be BUT those two main scenario quests. As they take long, many players rather do the other duties and then log off.

In short: A big chunk of awful problems are in your way. Once you are trough, ironically, it gets 10 times faster for the future visits of each instance. I waited ages for Bismarck as Scholar (!) when I had to do it and specially requested a Duty Finder queue. Now I instant-pop it on Roulette.

Roulettes fill around currently queued instances before filling a random duty in the list. For the MSQ it's a major time sink and the exp isn't as great in terms of time compared to the other roulettes. I know the last few times I queued as a tank in it was 30m+ estimate wait so I didn't bother so it's becoming less popular as an experience grind.

Lots of gibberish in this thread. I have all languages selected and have never had a queue go above 20m for any roulette. Yes this is for dps. Obviously tanking or healing is instant-5m. The only time I have seen drastic queues is for old 24 or 8m content. As Prae is part of the msq roulette that queue time suggested above is absolutely impossible if you don't queue in the middle of the night.

Actually they intend to take those two duties out of duty finder completely, making them solo instances akin to the newer trusts, unless their plans have changed since they discussed this. Assuming things are on-course, that means the MSQ roulette will be taken out, and fewer roulettes means other roulettes saturate more quickly.

Same here MSQ roulette is the roulette I do the most and it often took me less than 20 min to get in.
Right now I tried to queue to see how long it will take (I forgot I switched to tank for my pixie daylies) and I got it pop before I could withdraw.

They're actually gonna be revamp the whole of ARR in a patch or so. This is also fixed on your end by joining an Fc and getting a tank or healer to help.

The info when selecting the language states the following:

Because DensetsuJay has it set for J only, the duty finder is restricting the pool of other players. Testing this right now as dps queuing specifically for the Praetorium, as E only there was a 24 minute average wait time while J only was over 30m wait time. Having both set gave a 24 minute average.

Testing for the MSQ roulette, swapping between the settings of J only, E only and both J & E the times were always 30m+ for E only, sometimes 30m+ for both, sometimes 25m for both and 25m for J only. So multiple languages selected can both help and hinder depending on how the queue places you if I go by the times the queue was telling me.
