I'm very thankful that our fellow men can wear glam dresses. I'd really appreciate it if female characters could wear the male equivalent versions of those items as well. I just wanted to make this small request. Thanks. Q.Q

Are there specific items you are referring to? All the newer gear is reverse compatible, and I've seen plenty of male sets that are female equippable, so I'm sure listing the items in question may help?
The list of leaked stuff that was getting unlocked included several male outfits being unlocked for females. The balance is off because several outfits on the list were "female-exclusive male-unisex" pairs like the Spring Dress / Sailor Shirt and the Thavnairian sets.
Quaintrelle/Boulevardier isn't.
I think someone said the upcoming Valentione's outfits are gender-locked too.
I stand corrected.
That being said, I think the number of female-exclusive is still greater than male-exclusive, so the balance is definitely off. But yes, I do agree, I'd like to see more cross-gender outfits across the board. Yes, I can understand the delays, cause they have to design the graphic set for each race of the opposite gender for each one, then adapt to various body sizes that are different.
All the female stuff from the GC is now unisex but the same wasn't applied for the male stuff. Stuff like that. They went through and let the male characters use the female versions but didn't do the opposite, which just seems weird to me. Why do one why and not the other? LOL.
Mm. I'd have to disagree.
SE's said they want to maintain the balance of gender locked gear, so males do get exclusive outfits (ie note that nearly all the scion gear is gender locked, and a lot of the Korean-inspire stuff has different sets for male and female too).
And I'd say SE has been as good as their word. Very little comes out these days that is locked to one, without there being an alternative set for the other. Not that there's perfect symmetry, but it's far closer than any other MMO I've seen.
Yes, please!
There is a lot of stuff looking very differently depending on the gender: For example Hildibrand (you get Nashus outfit if you equip it as female, not the Hildibrand smoking), the Monster Hunter Rathalos gear, the new Nier ilevel-gear from the raid (I'd like to have the male jacket)...
It would be nice to be able to choose which version you want to wear.
Next raid could always just give 9S coffers, no?
And ofc at end of series we'll just strip it all off for our Adam glamors, right?
This sentiment is nice, but it's not the goal of this thread. This thread is about not gender locking gear. What you want is not appearance locking. They are similar, in theory, but different in premise. That being said, I wish I could pick the appearance I want for some items. Especially since I'm a lalafell, the male and female models are the same, T.T
Yeah. I would definitely be all over the butler outfit if my character could wear it. The game has a criminally small number of suits available for women to wear.
For gear that your retainers will wear, it is a pain when you, yourself, cannot apply a glamour because your toon is the wrong sex.
Agreed. They went out of their way to make the Gold Saucer bunny sets unisex AFTER they were released, and male characters can wear the 2B dress (and accompanying...bodily enhancements), but my character still can't wear things like the Uraeus body armor because she lacks a Y chromosome? Male characters looking for a Western fantasy look get that princely set on the cash shop, but I'm stuck with a big poofy dress that, to me, has no business being worn into combat? And why do so many of the sets with different looks based on your character's gender end up looking really good on one gender but ridiculous in some way on the other? The YoRHa sets are an exception that look good on both genders, but why am I forced to wear a dress (regardless of how cool the YoRHa dresses look) if I'd rather have the more suit-like male versions? Doesn't seem fair to me. Just because there's "symmetry" in the release of gender-locked sets, or unisex sets with alternate male and female designs, doesn't mean that both sets/versions look as good as the other.
Eorzea isn't Earth. 2 genders there.
There use to be an official thread for suggesting what items you want to be gender-unlocked.
Can't seem to find though... >x>
Heard there working on making it so guys will be able to wear the females wedding dress. But heard nothing on male gear being converted. I still want the Abes outfit for my female au ra and Aymeric's outfit.
What does that have to do with anything? I can be female all day long and still have zero desire to prance around in fru fru dresses and mini-skirts. And hey, as long as the guys get stuff done in parties... they can wear whatever the heck they want. Though I might take a screenshot if it's particularly hilarious. XD
A little bird might have showed a friend of mine the Riviera vest on female characters. If this is true, I imagine what else this little bird might have seen was a work-in-progress, and the developers did not want people to see this yet because they are not finished. I would imagine the selection of attire female and male characters is going to be far more comprehensive than what rumours have entailed.
