Would you consider moving maintenance/reset from Tuesdays back to Mondays?

I realize this isn't really much of a big deal to most, but I feel that it makes more sense for it to be on Monday.

For one, there is more likelihood for it to fall on a long weekend and that way none of the working folks have to 'call in sick' when a new patch drops should that occur.

This is all theoretically speaking of course, as risking your livelihood for a game seems silly.

But just an idea I suddenly got. Thoughts?

It’s a thing coordinated among the video game industry as well as other industries that releases should be on Tuesday.

I mean, if it falls on a holiday Monday then that also means the folks at SE also have to work a holiday just to cover if anything goes wrong with the patch. Plus, if you routinely choose to take days off work for a new game/patch then that already shows where your priorities are. Not that there's anything wrong with it but that's already a choice you're making and it's hard to see it as "risking your livelihood."

Thread title has a false premise. FFXIV ARR and beyond never had the weekly reset on a Monday. Its almost always been Tuesdays, with some things (a few months of crafting/gathering stuff) being on Thursdays.

It can’t go ‘back’ to Mondays without first having been there then moving off.

Things are working fine as is. Maintenance periods are going to inconvenience someone somewhere regardless of the time or day. Tuesdays seem to be the norm regarding new releases of games with a few exceptions.

Lol the patch will still be there after work anyway. There's no need to call out for that.

Due to my timezone, its always been on a Wednesday :D moving it a day earlier wouldn't do that much for me.

I just wish they'd give us actual release dates further ahead of time so I could take a couple days of vacation for when the patches drop. I'd certainly never call in sick to play the game, but I see nothing wrong with using the time off I'm owed! Unfortunately I need to request vacation time about a month in advance, and by the time we know which Tuesday an update is going to fall on, it's usually too late.

Nope, it used to be a Monday for the majority of the world.

That's a Monday reset for most of the world. In fact, it's a Monday morning on the east coast.

It was changed in 2.2 where it's universally a Tuesday.

the reset Tuesday at midnight is extremely ambiguous. Is it Tuesday midnight morning aka Monday to Tuesday, or Tuesday midnight evening aka night Tuesday to Wednesday?
The first would have reset/maintenance at Monday the second on the current Tuesday. we need more clarification for that.
on the other hand 2.2 is so long ago, so why change maintenance to Monday? no matter what time or day it will inconvenience someone

Monday to Tuesday midnight. There's also the community rep post confirming the Monday. I also remember the Monday resets from those times. It was a long time ago and I don't mind the Tuesdays, I just came to correct the wrong.

I started around 2.3 and never knew about any other main reset besides Tuesday morning (Europe)

Everything is on Tuesday because that's the MMO industry standard. Tuesday is the MMO industry standard because companies have been gathering data for decades now and Monday night/Tuesday morning is very definitely the time when the fewest people are online in an average week. Maintenance should impact as few players a possible, so maintenance goes when the fewest people are playing, so maintenance is Monday night/Tuesday morning.

Any variation in reset times at the start of the game's life was SE imagining they'd have different needs with a worldwide playerbase, then seeing the industry standard is standard for a reason and falling in line.

It's not changing.
