A quick Question if I may...

If you don't like the game... Then why the hell are you playing it?

I've seen so many people saying another game is way more fun and sticking around, Guess you guys/gals must like wasting your time!

Seriously, why?

the reason I get from their posts is:

Their favorite game USED to be better but was "ruined" by ppl like us. So they can't go back to playing it like they want.

What I've often thought is why they don;t for a linkshell together and play that game the "old fashioned" way, and ignor all the newer content that they don;t like.

Most of it is expansions/add ons that are completely optional.

Just have your linkshell charter say that you ignor everything that is possible to ignor that was added say.....after Chain of Promethia.

Honestly, i want to hate the game again.........................so I can actually have a life. Instead of waiting for maintenance to be over while watching anime. ; ;

Sheer potential. This game is in no way finished. It has a ton of potential is why I will give it a fair shot even though it is lacking in several areas at this point. As for staying on a previous fun game just because a game was fun doesn't mean that it stayed that way just look at the amount of ex-FFXI players posting. That game was a lot of fun but it is unrecognizable to what it once was and it lost its allure at different stages for different people. Is it really that bad to hope for better content?

I like this game a lot... but SE doesn't have their priorities straightened out with this specific title.

better content and improvements? not at all, hoping for that myself, but when you get terms like "Hardcore player" and "Elite" in the mix it gets irritating...
Let's face it, just because they had stuff on XI doesn't mean they're gunna get stuff on XIV from the get go.

Its a brand new game, unfinished but new, comparing it to other games at the moment is unfair.

Elaborate on the priorities please illriginalized?

I am in total agreement with that frustration. I just hope they can find and implement some of the really good ideas that get lost in all the hardcore vs casual player debates.

If someone here's from Sel- *cough* "Ridil" send me a /tell at some point... if this topic doesn't go to hell when north America logs in I'll hand over all my gil... which isn't alot but I'll do it.

The priorities have all been mentioned before but everyone says it'll have to wait til 2.0

The game has bugs and it definitely has lag.. all of which we are supposed to put up with until 2.0

I get frustrated with how they plan to do some stuff and how they sometimes think. For example:

Ifrit Loot System, I am sorry but it just sucks, why they thought of this I dont know, it makes absolute no sense to me what so ever. I do know the whole "Makes you do it longer and longer making the content last longer and longer" but this is not the right way to go about making long lasting content. Make it something people want to do because its FUN not because they have to just to get the Gear then no one ever re-enters once they have all weapons they need.

So that does annoy me, then there is the bland design of such things, like all of the Dungeons, there is nothing fancy about them, nothing that really sticks out, you just go from A to B fighting mobs, touch some chests along the way, and get to the boss, the requirements such as: Requiring cells/splitting + timing kills is ok I guess. But then where is anything fun going on, SE have great artistic vision but dont imply that nearly anywhere, only in the Job CS and a few story CS's. There is also no reason to explore, no reason to appreciate anything as the same scenery throughout (bit of a game limitation i know), all of them are linear, its like a worse version of FF13.

But then I look at their fantastic designs of armour and potential concept art, their new UI looks great, they identified key issues that bug me (Server/copypasta) and made it as the number 1 priority in 2.0 so their realisation is great, their dedication to working on both is great and the fact that we have this great forum to even have a chance at getting through to them is beyond anything I have seen, try talking to Bioware about SWTOR lol

There is also some things that confuse me when Yoshi tries to state he wants to make a game that is up to MMO Standards and be the best, but dont incorporate some simple stuff that recent mmos coming out have.

And I also believe some people think this game is going to become a huge hit soon, like hitting half a million people when 2.0 comes, It just isnt going to do that, there are soooo many obvious reason its not, it might eventually in years to come, but 2.0 people are going to be very cautious and even then it might not live up to expectations. Not everyone who will play 2.0 will try it out.

Plus most people who zone in on the negativity dont ever look at someones positive side. Its all very judgmental here, I get the same attitude at me, "Pv why play if you hate the game, just quit", its so childish sometimes. You're not doing yourself any favours telling people to quit and certainly not helping SE one bit, they need everyone they can get (they dont even ban RMT/botters...), heck I run a dedicated fan site, and there are portions of the game I do like, but some I dont. Not everything is candy.

Also as a programmer it boggles my mind why they took so long to do some stuff, EG the Hiding of Name Plate, you can already do this if you edit some code (naughty naughty) so why does it take them so long, priorities? And then some other stuff I find hilarious like buying from the Ward Window has to temp move your character data next to the retainer to buy and then move you back without making you aware just to buy something lol they should do this on the LS Kick system.

And on a final note the only thing that will bring this game down is competition, people say to me "lol Guildwars 2 has crap graphics no one will play it", say that to the 10+ million people playing WOW lol, there is a lot of heavy competition coming out before 2.0 and who knows what in 2013 when 2.0 is fully live.

E3 will be a time for SE to prove themselves, there is no other MMO alike there, no Blizzard, no Arenanet, it is a great time to be the main focus for MMO news.

Whats that about free gil? I started playing because WoW is godawefully boring at this point. Its turning into speed zerg zerg zerg and I miss things like 11. I mean what am I supposed to do go play aion, I mean lets not forget that 14 on high graphics is beastly. New producer is worth the chance of sticking with it

and being fair, Aion's story isn't amazing... but it is pretty good...

Premium Virtue, Wont deny the Ifrit loot system is terrible... tbh the party is half the problem, after 2 whm and a tank its "BLM or GTFO n00b!" so I'll agree on the basis of
1. I want a few of the dorps myself
2. A friend of mine has trouble because her only 50 is DRG.
next: Yes i agree that simple things like being able to kick someone without them being right next to you is...annoying...especially when there's people that AFK and/or don't come back.
as the leader of a shell you should be able to kick someone without prior notice E.G. "<name> Where are you?"

tbh it'd bug me less if people complained and started a sentence with "maybe they should" or "I think they should" instead of writing a solution and putting "Like in XI!" or saying "WoW is so much better at this!" (I see that one most...)
if people are gunna compare this to a different game they should compare it to a beta test... since technicly xiv isnt much further than that.

And in all fairness, Yoshi-p wasnt the director when the game was released so it's hardly his fault, from what i've hear (hate programming >.<") the "foundation" of the game isnt the easiest to work with

No sorry but you have it quite back to front, the only MMO in peril of dying from competition is the ageing behemoth that is WoW. If anything a game such as GW2 could start the impending avalanche of players away from WoW to other MMO's and that would only help FFXIV's numbers.
There are more than enough customers to keep all the MMO's going, the only problem is persuading a large proportion of
them that WoW is not the only MMO in existence. FFXIV for instance ( and for that matter most other mmorpgs ) could probably keep going with just 2-3% of WoW's playerbase as regular subscribers, surley that is doable post 2.0, in fact probably not very hard at all provided SE actually market the game properly ( or at all xD )

What SE sees as "Success" is not what the media or press really call a Success, no one is saying XIV will die, I am saying there is absolute zero basis that XIV will prevail to rocket high numbers (like half a million, i mean come on the initial release hit that lol).

I think you misunderstood that point, I am not saying the game will die, I am saying there is no way it will hit hundreds of thousands of players come 2.0, and it is going to be a tough time.
