New game+ rewards

Hi!
As the majority of players of this game, i loved my leveling experience throughout the MSQ and was really hyped about the new game+ announcement, but the fact that it gives zero rewards gave me zero incentive to play it, since i'd be basically wasting my time. if i'd just wanted to enjoy the story i might aswell create another character to level through the MSQ again and earn all the exp and item rewards(a Fantasia aswell).

so my suggestion is to make NG+ give some exp reward so that people have a reason to do that without having a feeling that they'd better level another character rather than using the NG+. to avoid ppl exploiting it to level faster, i'd also suggest to make cutscenes unskippable like the MSQ dungeons.

yeah no i don't think that's gonna happen or is a time worthy suggestion to make.

That would just inconvenience the target audience as well as the EXP grinders. Yes they're there for the story, but with it delivered in large chunks of half-a-game or so, they might not want to watch every single cutscene again. Maybe they just want to replay the one-time-only fight with X, and get through everything on the way there as quickly as possible.

Also, look at how much people complain about unskippable cutscenes already, with generous rewards and the reasoning that it's to help other people who want to watch it!

Whatever they're doing 'behind the scenes' to make NG+ work might not even be compatible with rewards. It seems to be dropping you into a different save file so you don't overwrite your current progress. It probably should have just been called "Story Replay" or "Reminiscence" or something, but perhaps the subtlety of the 'plus' implying bonuses got lost in translation.

If you'd rather level a new character for the rewards, do that. If you'd rather replay the story for the sake of replaying the story on your existing character, do that.

And an another person who doesn't understand that about the NG+, it's for people want to live the MSQ again, withouth leveling.

It's not addressed to leveling. In other word, not for you.

This is a content for players who are bored between two big patches. The INN's log shows only half of the dialogues of the MSQ.

Gotta disagree with this suggestion. I like how New Game + is set up right now. Completely optional, and only there for story. Nobody feels like, they MUST do it y'know? Just a nice little treat for people (like myself) whom the story means a lot to. I wish this game had more things like that tbh.

New Game+ was never for levelling purposes, only for reliving the story.

For levelling, you have the Roulettes. If you added EXP to New Game+, the queues for Roulettes would be more empty, which would have heavier consequences than adding EXP would be beneficial.

There are reasons for using NG+ instead of leveling another character. For one thing, NG+ will let you replay the HW and SB stories without having to go through all of ARR once again.
That being said - if you feel zero incentive to use NG+, then don't use it. Problem solved.
It is there for those who want it, and those who don't want it can skip it without that hurting anyone.

Why do you want an incentive? Why do you need a reward to replay story apart from the fact itself of seeing story again?
If somebody is not interested in story itself, clearly the function is not for them.

(also going through story again through an alt also involves doing all the unlocks again, aether currents etc, not quite the same as just reliving story.)

It wasn't designed to be a leveling up method (as cool as that would be), but simply, an alternative to using the unending stories in the fact you can replay the entire story.


I was hoping for at least partial exp gains as well, but I'm still going to replay it, because my character has changed alot since then, and I am now more bad-ass than I was first time around :D

If you want a heckton of exp and tomes from reliving cutscenes of main scenario gone by, there is also MSQ roulette

But I'll hazard a guess that this is also not suitable for you agenda.

The entire purpose is to give people who want to revisit the story, the opportunity to do so.

People: I wanna re-visit old cutscenes and events in the story.
Yoshi-p: Okay here you go
People: I want a reward for re-visiting old cutscenes and events in the story.

It's just for revisiting the story, Yoshi P stated multiple times in live letters that there will be no rewards. The purpose is to do the story again if you want to experience it again. Plus, leveling in this game is so easy that you shouldn't even need rewards from new game plus.

That would kill the feature entirely. Have you seen the complaints surrounding the unskippable cutscenes in MSQ Roulette? There’s a lot of them. People don’t like them. That aside: why be forced into watching cutscenes when you can just spam dungeons in less time? It’s all about efficiency, and people are naturally inclined to take the path of greater efficiency and least resistance.


That said, New Game+ doesn’t need rewards. The target demographic was not those who want to level alt jobs; it was targeted towards those who just want to re-experience the story for the sake of re-experiencing the story...without having to make a brand new character for it.

I never thought I'd say this, but, I agree with you lol. Well, at least for the most part ;)

I don't understand why "using it for leveling" and "using it for the story" should be mutually exclusive.

You only want the story ? Take your high level job, do every single fights unsynced and breeze through everything.
You want to level ? Take a low level job and trek all the way up to the end.

I just know it's worthless feature to me that I will never use just like the trusts system. Think just fine how it is since just for those that want play the story again. For me I just create a new alt to use or watch old cutscenes back at the inn.

Rewards added to New Game+ like EXP would only really benefit people who want a cheaper alternative to buying a level jump book or even multiples of level jump books, so I am all for adding EXP rewards for New Game+, but only for classes/jobs that are applicable.

Square: gives ng+ for the sole purpose of reliving the story

Players: but does it give good exp?

I cannot wait to relive SHB.
(Btw, stupid question, but how does one start NG+?)

There's an unlock quest for it by the Walking Sands. After that, you just access it from your menu.
