3 things that doomed Ishgard Restoration in my server

1. World Travel restriction came too late

The first day was a total shitshow. Way too many people on the instance, lots of people missed the opportunity to see the FATE on the first day, the progress bar filled too fast. Now, some players don't know the restriction is up, others lost completely the interest once they missed the first one because they wanted to see the entire thing.

And a lot are disheartened to see that the progress bar is moving way too slow compared to the first days. The slower is goes, the more they stop working, which makes it go even slower. If the restriction was up from day one, the progress wouldn't have gone so fast and the slower pace would be more expected from the players.

2. Players don't think there's too much benefit in helping anymore

To get the scrips fast, players need to gather 24 items through Norvrandt and make another one which may require 1 or more items, for each delivery, to get at best 58 scrips. It takes too long. We need to gather hundreds of items and perform crafts over and over again. Grinding is not fun. I can see why it's there but it's not appealing to new players. Only who's already used with the abuse the game or have lots of gil is really doing the content. :P

It's less of a hassle to get the stuff from the market board. So less people end up doing the content. And since people are not working HERE, they're world traveling to get those stuff, which makes it even less worth for people here to do the content.

3. Players think they won't be able to buy the houses they're working on

I saw this on the chat a while ago and they made a good point. There are users on several worlds that do some tricky or another to buy all the plots on entire wards. The GMs and the devs don't seem to do anything to fix that. Players think the bots and the cheaters are just gonna nab all the plots that they are working on making available.

Every month I see several images with screenshots of the same users or free companies or something just buying several plots, on reddit. It's an old problem and just seeing it happen is very depressing.

I can't help but predict that someone with more time or money to buy gil from those RTM sellers that plague the game are just gonna destroy the wards for the rest of us who put the work.

Other player said that there's probably not enough plots for everyone who's working hard on the deliveries and that alone is very discouraging. If I'm gonna dedicate HOURS delivering all this stuff that I'm grinding, I do want to have a guaranted plot for me.

So, the more time passes, the less appealing this content looks, to be honest. :/ What do you guys think?

thats just how it is. now instead of taking a few days some servers are just gonna take a lot longer. but theres time, still feels like we're getting the short end but it'll get done. a lot of people on my world kinda gave up on trying to do it but we're still going strong to get this fate

also might just be your timezone? maybe most players on your world are playing in a different time zone so it feels really small.

It isn't "doomed", OP. The content wasn't meant to be rushed, and rank 3 works are supposed to take longer. Each successive rank took more than the last. Wanderers weren't contributing for the most part, just leeching. Very few actually helped. Relax, it'll get done.

They underestimated the number of people that doing restoration, they should gate it like beast tribe where one could only do it several time per day (i hate it but it does help contents lifetime), i mean for now after you get all the scrip item theres nothing... and even if you gather stuff yourself it probably only take several hour (lvl 80 as starting point though)... so...

I don’t know I’ve been having a no-lifeing blast on my other character lol. This is the fastest I’ve ever leveled my crafters. If my other character gets all of hers to 80 ( or just 70, happy either way lol )I just might have to story jump this character so she can take part too. But for now... I need sleep ...

on smaller servers people were actually helping get it done really quickly so the fate could happen more, some worlds wouldnt even be on rank 3 rn

The content is not meant to be rushed. It's going to take a while and Rank 3 is the final step till the end of this set. It's going to be fine if not everyone is going at crazy speeds. They're clearly watching over it and will probably support the ones that are lagging extremely far behind, but it's not something to freak out over.

I got disheartened when I couldn't participate and I've given up because I wanted to see it all etc.

Youre forgettin one important part - ppl rushed for the rewards, so they spammed turn ins. Most got what they wanted and wont return, thats what makes most of the difference.

I dunno. With everyone becomign crafters now and the fact Crafter/Gatherer Materia is in the scrip exchange that alone will keep people coming. Especially with pentamelding the 460 gear when it's crafted. That stuff is really hard to find otherwise.

Players didn't get locked out with the congestions because of players from other server helping. The congestion was only when the fate was about to begin. That much shows what was the real interest. Leeching.

#3 seems to be the biggest concern.

It's better to do white scrip turn-ins than Ishgard for materia. Granted, you need to have at least four retainers at level 80.

In regards to the last point, I suspect (though I have no way to confirm this) that the points we get on the "rankings" will be used to create a tier buy system. Meaning, the more points you earn, the sooner you will have access to the housing wards to purchase property. This makes some level of sense in that you will be rewarded for more effort applied in the reconstruction and cant just do the minimum (if nothing at all) and still have access to housing that people worked to make available. This would also mean you cant transfer a plot unless you contributed, and the fact they already released 3 new wards per district to ease housing demand for FCs and individuals may also be a part of this.

Furthermore, theres no reason why with this next set of housing that some of the rules wont change. For example, if the point system is as I predict it (again, its a guess from me), that would mean that you wont be competing necessarily with people with huge stacks of cash or tons of bot accounts thatll grab property up on an alt. If you didnt contribute, you wont have as good a chance at property. Also, since they know from experience with Shirogane how much demand is gonna be, they might (and its a big might) keep a close eye on property to ensure one guy isnt using multiple accounts to buy up a ward.

Point is, dont be a debbie downer just yet. We dont know how this is all gonna add up. I just recommend trying to get as much points/investment as possible now in case it does become an issue of those with the most points will have the first pick.

why do you need 4 retainers?

Pretty sure once everyone gets all item its going to come to grinding halt almost. Sooner or later one's is going to get tired spending all day just making collectables to turn in. I know I'm already tired of it after turning in over 3000 now. Instead of a fate should been like beast tribes and enclave get a quest when reach max gauge. So far missed every fate because pops when at work. I feel sorry for small servers that don't have huge amount crafters like the big ones after end of world visit for restoration.

I can’t see the developers ever doing this—the outrage would be astounding, and, frankly, well deserved. Especially considering the massive problem with crafting bots some servers have. I’ve already predicted my server’s leaderboards being dominated by more of the botters than the actual legit crafters. Additionally, given how much emphasis this game puts on equal accessibility, this would completely contradict that.

While you technically don't, having more retainers makes it easier to spam. With only two, you won't be able to mass spam battle and gather mats.
