So it was datamined by someone on Twitter that Ishgard housing is already inside game files and we can already suppose it's going to be at the end of the restoration. Which is a flawed idea by itself because only a group of high-levelled crafters n gatherers will contribute the most for it but every player can get a house there so a question rises, why crafters should bother if they wont have any priveleges? Except from exclusive housing stuff and weekly rewards maybe. But even then It doesnt feel right that I will be working for placeholder level 1 characters or 4-man FCs who hoard houses seconds after new wards/area release and then RMT their mansions.
So an idea came into my head, what if instead of selling houses in new residential area for gil, start to sell them for special Ishgard scrips? You will earn them by contributing stuff for restoration, contributions will be divided into tabs like with collectible hand-ins, crafters/gatherers/fisher contribution and for those who doesnt have any crafters or gatherers, materia/gil contribution. This way houses wont sell out as fast and every player should have a fair chance. Just need to set a high scrip cost for mediums and larges, this way I wont even be mad at people who got it because I will know they worked their asses off for this mansion. Especially if there is a cap of how much scrips you can obtain per week, so for example if you missed a week of working for restoration, you wont accumulate as much scrips as needed to get yourself a large at release day. And this way crafters and gatherers wont stroll around Ishgard with a pompous face, bragging about how hard we VIP people work for you low-lifers so you can have a chance to try your luck in housing x)
I know that this will never be a thing but was nice trying to actually came up with a housing shortage solution idea myself. Even if its just to entertain myself and people on forum who will read me.

None of the stuff you turn in for scrips are hard to craft. As long as your gear is up to date and melded, you can spam macro crafting for a good couple hours and get it. That's no more work than someone just spending gil.

Like I said, mediums and larges should be at a very high scrip cost so if you miss a week or two you wont be able to accumulate enough scrips to get on on release day. And also its just fairer to everyone since only people who will work for restoration will be given a chance to try luck in housing, not just every player.Quote:

Your suggestion also doesn't solve the shortage, it just merely delays the whinging by gating access to housing behind yet another layer that people will find a way to get through in a matter of time.
The only solutions to the shortage is giving supply that meets the demand. Not some convoluted suggestion (and you're not alone in suggestions) that trickles through the access to a select few, whether by luck or by effort. -

A 4 man FC can still have a crafter/gatherer in it that contributes to get all of those scrips you want. And there's no way a lvl 1 placeholder character could get a plot anyway, even if they had the gil. They still have to have the basic requirements from their GC for ANY housing and Ishgard is further locked behind content.Quote:

I also know a lot of my FC mates are wild fans of Ishgard and seriously looking forward to housing there, but not all of them have the time/money/patience for the kind of thing you're talking about. They still have gatherer & non-crafter/gatherer turn-ins to add to the process at a later time. Crafters are just the only ones capable of contributing at the moment. They likely wouldn't want to create a separate monetary system for plot purchases as it would cause them issues with relocation, auto-demolition refunds, etc. Eventually it will still come down to a bunch of people with scrips they cant use because the supply can't meet demand anyway.

I'm very willing to rebuild Ishgard for those who want housing. It's just a decent thing to do, even though I don't plan on moving there myself. Plus, there are other rewards.
