Aesthetician Upgrade

I think the Aesthetician needs an upgrade to allow you to change every aspect of your character EXCEPT your race / gender. This would allow Hrothgar to change their hairstyle since SE decided to lock that to your face choice. You could even charge more than 2000 gil depending on what changes you make.

That sounds like it'd be convenient.

If there are updates to the Aesthetician, I hope they also take the time to add one onto Norvrandt. It seems a little silly that there's only one person in all of the shards who is qualified to cut hair.

100% this. I think fantasia needs to be just for gender and race changes.

Yes please. Maybe not for stuff like height but eye color and even skin color should be able to be changed without shelling out for a Fantasia. Seems like only AuRa know about contacts

Oh, I'm sure there are others who are qualified but Jandelaine is the only person allowed near my head with scissors.

As much as I'd love this due to the obscene amount of fantasias I've gone through, I can't imagine SE would ever make it happen since they are so profitable as it is.

If they want to throw us a nice meaty bone, I'd be happy if we could just edit skin color and eyes in there as well. Tanning beds and contacts do exist in the real world, so it wouldn't be a complete stretch :)

Well I also agree with this and it does make sense and is only logical to think it like that.
It's also logical than they are turning a blind eye on this change because it boosts their Fantasia sales in the Mog Station.

I'd love this... But by doing so it would mean less people purchasing Fantasias - the people that do so just to change minor details about the characters, so... I'm having a hard time thinking that SE would do this, sadly,

If not EVERYTHING, atleast the stuff that matters. For example - Eye colour, for one. Maybe even Iris size? Perhaps Face type too - Your face already changes slightly depending on what eyebrows you use, something already changeable, so why not the full face? Height, Tail length, Bust size etc...All would be great to change, and have presidency for it to be possible.

However, we all know this aint happening. SE likes money, and people get addicted to fantasias for a reason.

I think eye color and skin color should be added to it. When did the quest for him didn't he change eye color to the female lalafell. Fantasia should only be for sex and race changes.

It'll never happen sadly. SE would sooner shoot themselves in both feet before giving up the ability to incentivize people to buy fantasias.

It's an oddity of the character creation template and how the same settings have been used across different character designs.

As a general rule, the aesthetician lets you change "decorative" elements of the character but not their actual body.

Limbal rings are an exception because for most races, that data element is used for race-specific tattoos, or for Wildwood Elezen's earrings. So because it's the "same" setting, you still get access to it.

(The inverse being why Hrothgar don't get a special exception on being allowed to "change their hair" by changing their face setting. They'd probably have to let all races access the setting.)

Considering how mad everyone who buys monthly and/or weekly fantasia's would be if suddenly half the reasons they bought them for were now free... I doubt this change will happen.

I agree as well. I would love to have more options to change around - especially skin colour. Maybe I took a bunch of sunbaths? Maybe I stayed in the workshop room for days. Shouldn't this show?

Ah okay that makes more sense now.

I'm all for this BUT, we all know SE won't allow it...I mean Fantasia is probably how they most of the salary in the company by now ^^"

I'm not asking for big changes but a tooltip on haircuts telling their name will be nice to see.

As much as I'd like this, it would hurt squares bottom line and probably not happen as a result

I don't think many people would be mad if they suddenly had to buy fewer fantasias. Those with a stockpile (myself included), could just save the ones they have for more drastic changes.

But at any rate, I doubt any change will happen as well, just not because of the reason you listed.

I'd like that. Is it entirely realistic, maybe not, but I don't much care. WoW even has expanded their barbershop options to change anything but your race and gender, including skin tone. I doubt SE is going to make this change but it would be a welcome one.

Yeah, i've felt for a while that the Aesthetician should be able to change your face, eye color, height, and other features. Like you may want to experiment with a few looks before you settle down on one, and you either settle down on an appearance you're not satisfied with, or you have to shell out money for fantasias, and i feel that Fantasias should only be for more dramatic changes like race and sex.

I and other people have mentioned this a few times, especially with regard to voice because the options during character creation are terrible for testing it. Unfortunately, it does seem like they are afraid to add any more functionality because it would mean less people paying for fantasia.

I know this is basically the line they have drawn, but IMO it doesn't really hold up in a game where it's also OK to fight gods wearing a frog costume or ride around on a flying gorilla.

Been asking for this since the dang thing released. Please let us change eye colors at least. :/

A sufficiently enchanted frog suit may be exactly what you need for fighting gods. Prophecies are weird sometimes.

Incidentally, I changed from "drive your friends around on a flying whale" to the gorilla when I remembered there are like 10 other RPGs where your party rides a sky whale. :rolleyes:

Considering the limitations on the new races, you should absolutely at the very least be able to change your face. Let Hrothgar have the option to change their hair in game. It's ridiculous that SE ever thought it would be okay not to.

He's already good enough with his plastic surgery to add and remove scars from your face, do some sorcery to Au Ra's eyes to change their limbal rings and completely change your forehead's bone structure with the placement of your eyebrows. I think he can manage some skin manipulation tonics for hydration.

We live in a world where we can teleport, shoot fireball and battle with ancient deities....I think Jandelaine could handle a little bit of plastic surgery....

I would love this feature, buuuuuuuuut... like the others said I doubt we'll ever get that lucky. Fantasias are a big money maker. If we could edit everything except race/gender, maybe height, they'd take a definite hit from people who thought those eyes were a lovely shade of brown, or that nose was perfect, in character create, but can't stand them when exposed to the variable lighting/cut scenes in the game itself.

I really wish I could change my skin tone. It never looks the same in game as it does in character creation. Eye color too would be nice. I'd use more natural brown colors from time to time, but I picked my favorite color teal green because I knew I'd regret permanently having brown eyes. :/

I think it only makes sense to only lock the kind of changes we wouldn't to be able to do anything about such as race, gender, height, etc. Everything else should be fair game, and I would even be ok with the costs going up or varying depending on what you're getting done.

Maybe just for Hrothgar. Other races can stay as it is.

Co-signing this... it's what should be happening but won't :( one can hope though!

At the very least it would be nice to change eye colour... I know its meant to be a hairdresser, but given he does makeup/facepaint as well, coloured contact lenses doesn't seem like too much of a stretch... Heck in a fantasy setting with literal magic nothing really should...

They really should do this. I think that they could even make it into a good gil sink. Charge 2000 for the current and maybe a different amount for stuff like faces.
