This is probably the poll question Squenix won't ask for various reasons.
If Squenix started billing as early as May, would you still be a subscriber? If the answer is no, then why?

It is dangerous to go alone. Take this.

May? Yes most likely. That is if they have given us the full run down of future updates and an outline of changes being made to classes and combat. If I feel the changes they announce are satisfactory I'd be willing to up my sub and keep playing. If I feel they are not then I will not.
In general, if the game was not fixed by then, I would say no. However, I happen to remember 11 going through similar (maybe not as extreme) stages of suckage and getting really good. I happen to have the disposable income to spend. I happen to believe the game will get better. I happen to want to be along for the ride so that seven or eight years from now, I can reminisce with all the old timers about the good 'ole days, back when men were real men, not man'qote! Etc., etc., et. al.
no. the game is in no way ready to even be released at this point. this game has already mentioned major changes upcoming and some of us will be leaving depending on what changes are made and what they want. i personally would not start paying for a game i do not know if it will be a game worth playing in the future. between the severe lack of content to keep people involved and the lack of overall players to keep the game going i would not waste my money on a game that has already alienated the majority of players.
Hmmm, I probly won't because I don't think the game is ready for subscription yet. I am subscribed to XI and would just keep a close eye on XIV until its up to my standards.
I am mainly looking for a game that helps build kindness and friendship among the players in the community which means more group based activities and as of now its only Leves that give that.
I'd probably bail to since I don't see this game being subscirption worthy til around summer or fall. More than likely the latter.
We didn't even get XI stateside for a year and ahalf after it was retail. So they had a year + an expansion worth of updates to make it palatable for US consumption. I'm kinda starting to wish they had done the same with XIV.
When XI first came out it was the same level of train wreck if not worst that XIV was in September.
If you take history into account then the game should be ready by December or January?
To be honest I'd pay now if I could >.>
Fiosha share your buffs with me! D:
Depends on how they make the experience for me. After the first month or two of playing XIV I decided to pick up XI and give that a go instead. I never played it because they would not accept my debit card.
I checked the box and met, no, EXCEEDED all their requirements and still could not play after paying for the game. Nobody within their company would help me. I researched online and quite a few people had the same experience I did. SE is a terrible company. They effectively stole $10 from me with nothing in return. I threw XI in the garbage because nobody deserved that kind of treatment.
EDIT: omg /wave Fio! *blush*
Yeah lol I spent over 20 hours trying to get the game to play. SE said, "Nope."
Just making sure...a lot of people dont seem to realize that lol >_>
Yeah, and most banks do not even offer it. You have to actually activate it yourself in most cases which means going to a ssl site from visa or mastercard and inputting your information on record so it can confirm who you are and then process you and then it confirmed by visa marks your card for online purchases. If you never did this SE would never take it.
Short answer: Yes.
Auto attack, no auto attack, class changes, no class changes, as is, and what it will be, whether I'm on one day a month or forty hours a week, I will remain a subscriber at this time.
Am I delusional? Yes. I've held onto this twisted vision of what the next Final Fantasy online game should be. This is not it. I would have stayed onboard to see where Tanaka goes. BUT I'm even further intrigued by Yoshi-P's character and direction. The one thing (within a spectrum of feasible events) that would make me unsubscribe is if my account was somehow compromised, lost all my character data and GMs don't allow recovery, or straight up banned without appeal.
Probably will edit more with downtime. See ya!
Edit: PrettyPrincess, I would have too lol!
Edit: /wave Mega Man Haha! I sees U!
Continuation: I saw how this game was in Open Beta. I was not satisfied then and considered its direction. Even so, I had Kefka-like levels of Faithra and signed up for six month subscription. I still want this game to add content. I still want the game to evolve. But the development road they take, I'll stick with them. One more thing that would cause me to quit within reason. If my payment methods are not accepted due to a change in how Squenix does billing (like accepting a Prepaid Visa card and not allowing me to change to another card when the prepaid runs out of funds, even after talking to support several times), then I will dishearteningly quit.
There is that little tidbit as well. Luckily USAA has that so I just went on their site directly and activated it and my card continued to work after that.
ALTHOUGH if you have a debit card from ssfcu it can be a bit more...difficult to activate. Their system seems to screw up for me every time I try and get the secure code on my card so I have to go in personally and have a representative activate it for me >_>
If see the changes I hope for I will.
As far the FFXI secure code goes there is a way around that. Just log in on someone's xbox FFXI account and activate it through that. It doesn't ask for the secure code that way. I used my sons xbox game to activate mine.
I would pay as long as the updates came frequently, and the direction of the game was a positive experience. I would rather donate to the cause and help make FFXIV a success, then watch it burnout.
Considering in two months they are releasing the overhaul to the battle system and adding that dungeon to the game, yes, I would pay.
i'd probably be 50 50. not sure yet would have to see where they are at. at worse i'll just close my account till it worth paying monthy. i don't have the money to waist while waiting for them to get there shit together. guess i was spoiled in the concept that na ps2 had a full game with a full expansion at launch. think they need to make all mmo launches with that much content or bust.
but yeah if they fix alot of the stuff or not my biggest problem is ease of playing, aka server population, so fix everything don't fix everything i still can't do things in game the way i want to. and that's when where and how, not during certain hours, not when a group finally logs in, but right at the second i feel like putting a leve group or party sp grind together.
we'll have to see how much they add into the game, i'd probably pay for a month or 2 just to see the new content at launch if there is some. if it's all prelaunch patched then i'd probably spit threw it and take a nice break like we got now. my monies ain't going no where it don't deserve. :)
Yes. I enjoy the game more than others that I have played/payed for in the past, so why not? Plus, since I only play one character, it would be less than most MMO subs.
I would happily pay if they get rid of the Crysta system. It's not like it's a huge expense, but I grudge using a retarded payment system.
I skipped playing FFXI for a long period of time in the beginning as a result of bad impressions and hardware costs (PS2 HDD etc.). I have the required equipment and will play the game, unlike the early days of FFXI. I already have a few thousand Crysta in reserve from when I applied them at release.
Honestly ? i dont know.
Depends how much money and free time i have in the bank when they decide to do start charging.
Would i had paid back in September? yes , until i was literally "done" with the game. Then i would had stopped , most likely.
For me it all depends on whatever i find something else i like or not.
May? probably because nothing new i wanna try will be out yet.
**Bubble** **Haste**
I would keep on playing. I can't wait to see what new stuff they come out with. There is so much I haven't done yet either. So I have lots of time to explore and level up before any of the updates come out. There's also tons of great players on Rabanastre. Seems like everytime I get on to play, I learn something new.
They do need to make the payment system better. It's an unnecessary barrier for a lot of people (Verified By Visa sucks and I hated PlayOnline, and I've heard bad things about Click And Buy). Crysta isn't ideal but I can handle it.
Back on topic...would I subscribe? Sure, why not. I've wasted more money on worse things (DCUO, for instance!). And if SE keeps on track and updates/fixes things, all the better.
It's not even like I hate the game as it is, anyway. I like it. I understand its problems, but I like.
Id Pay. The game isnt perfect, but its still better than most of the fluff MMOs out there now.
Yes I would. If they brought the servers up tonight I would start paying.
I would pay. I enjoy the game but know that it is not at its fullest yet. I will definately stick with it especially with yoshi-p looking after it. I like that he tries to communicate with us so we know what to expect in the future.
I would say yes, because I spend a signifigant amount of time on the game and because I love my ls and enjoy the time I spend with them. However (assuming we're at the original prices), at this point I probably would not feel I was getting my money's worth and it wouldn't take too much for me to leave. Now, if they wanted to go with 1/2 price until the game is truly ready for launch, then that would be fair.
Of course I would pay. Whatever it takes to get updates and patches pushed.
Totally agree with you. When i played FFXI the LS i was in was a US one so i dint really get involve alot with the events but as my LS is mainly UK members it makes it more enjoyable.Quote:

Definitely not. Only reason I play this game is: I hope SE will fix it. Not gonna pay a cent b4 its fixed.
I would pay.
I wouldn't continue playing if I had to pay. Probably just save up the money each month until they release a patch worthy enough to consider this a FF MMO.
Well, I accept that SE will need to charge at some point. We'll see what they are offering when we get to that stage, like alot of the people here - WE NEED CONTENT - we need something to log on for.
I can't say that in 6months there has been anything added that I feel I need to be online for, and I doubt the next 6months will produce anything to the standard of FFXI. (The MMO i got bored of enough to switch to 14 for).
I dont see setting myself "targets" to grind towards (crafting and leves) as any kind of entertainment - Mearly gaining a head-start over any future player-base. lol. Like alot of the players I know.
When we have a goal. Maybe then.
Yes I would, I'd pay now. I put myself in the fanatic category and I don't expect most people to follow. This is the perfect world for me, it's not the perfect GAME, but I don't necessarily want a game I prefer a gorgeous virtual world above that. If Ryzom had children NPCs I would have been there a long time, just love lush atmosphere.
If they can succeed to up the gameplay and make this a game people want to stick around with I will be very happy just so I get to stick around Eorzea.
I'd be willing to pay for the current state of the game. I find it to be fun and I love my linkshell mates. They're great people who make the game enjoyable for me. When we're not destroying NM's we're always up to some crazy antics... It's always fun to troll the people in-game who whine about how bad it is... And to pick on the occasional roleplayer!
I, however, would not pay for this game if they add auto-attack and butcher the regimen system. It's incredibly easy to use... If you can't do it then it's not the game's fault, it's your own. And they ARE very powerful, you just have to know how to use them... And sure, it requires teamwork and communication, but it doesn't require more than a couple seconds to set up and complete if you're not grouped with a bunch'a window lickers who grew up under powerlines.
