It's a pretty baffling decision to limit the ability to play with friends on a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game. Fair play to remove 24-man instances where that's an entire team's influence, but if we're only going to have 72-man games, there's no reason to restrict full parties.
I'm not much of a gambling man, but I'd place a lot of money in that players only interested in their Garo rewards were most upset about full parties. Well last I checked, they are not even in the picture anymore. Why invest in short-term players only interested in these rewards?
If you want to cater toward the solo player, or incentivize queuing solo, you can always look into adjusting the tome or wolf mark reward for using the roulette option, or add achievement-incentives for solo players.
Folks are still grouping together by being in the same Grand Company. To me, this is fair play, but why make things like this more difficult? Just restore full-parties. Keep this 4-man group nonsense to Rival Wings.

No. Enforce Freelancer instead so these players that are circumventing the 8 man party removal stop all going to 1 GC, 1-2-3 queuing, and potentially ending up with 24 of them rolling a match.

Halving party sizes literally did nothing. What they really needed to do was have premades pit against each other instead of together even if they are in the same GC.

That removal encourages people to gravitate to one specific GC and solo queue together under a countdown, which can total up to 12 to 20 people being in the same team all in voice comms. Re-adding 8 man premades will encourage people to group up in 8 again, and we all know premade queues put you in a random GC, not a set one like solo queue with freelancer off does, which means the 3 potential premades would most likely not be on the same team.
There is literally no room for arguement against the idea of 8 man premades being bad at the current state of 8v8v8 being removed. -

They could pit premade against each other and bring back the 8v8v8 for all. Actually 8v8v8 doesn't matter if premade are present as long as someone on your team is calling shots. Same for 72 honestly. Just take control, dont sit back and claim premade when the issue is you and your team. Take charge.
