Weird DX11 Crashing?

I'm having this really bad issue where whenever I open the map to Eastern La Noscea- and *specifically* Eastern La Noscea- my client just crashes. I was mucking around trying to see if there was any way around it and finally got a pop-up notification telling me what's wrong.

When exactly did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC that coincides with this?

Can you provide the error message you are receiving?

Additionally, can you submit a Final Fantasy XIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

It began happening when I started playing again roughly a week ago, but I can't recall anything specific that may have caused the error to begin occurring. At best, I can guess it's a result of one update or another, likely on my PC's end since I performed several reinstalls of FFXIV itself to no avail.

Good morning and thank you for the reply.

Could you try and disable any overlays and background programs? Please also try changing the compatibility mode. To change compatibility mode, right click on the exe file (Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.exe), right click it and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7.

Well, I'm running in compatibility and turned off all overlays, and now instead of directly crashing the game the instant the map is opened, it takes about 30-45 seconds during which I can continue to play, and *then* it crashes.

Could you try updating the graphics drivers? Also when reinstalling the game, was it installed onto the C drive?

I was having this same issue and I think ive tracked it down. Are you running a 2nd(multi) monitor setup? If so disbale your 2nd monitor, restart your system, load FF14, exit the game then re-enble the 2nd monitor. This plagued me for a few weeks, its random, leaves no event viewer and the error is cryptic.

I did try updating the graphics drivers, but it hasn't seemed to have an effect. Insofar as install location, I've had it installed on my C drive, D drive and an external hard drive all to no avail.

Does this crash only happen with one character? Also if you have not done so already, please try doing a clean boot. Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
