For funsies, I can sorta agree.
But for practical purposes, I kinda enjoy that all the old guides are trash now, since every one of them relied on kamikaze. That's boring.
RIP BLU-farming Tam Tara when they inevitably bring back more mog tomes :(
Cooldown is longer then Hallowed Ground and you still die from it. If anything it frees up 3 spell slots. No one will want to use this.
If they want a 10 minute cooldown it should just be a burst DPS skill that doesn't kill you.
Not to mention you can't buff stack anymore with OG and PL coupled with MF.
Feels bad man.
RIP the one good thing about BLU, the memes.
I am glad I can still at least self destruct once for the memes. In a practical scenario, it does 15-20k on my BLU at level 50, which is ludicrous damage for that level, so I can see why there is a limit, 10 min might be a bit much though.
I think the debuff as it stands is dumb.
If it let you retain 1hp after using any of them then applied a 5m cd i would go ok it could be used for bosses for quick burst but needs immediate heals after use nothing spectacular but would have a use but as it is now nope stupid debuff
The debuff is more of a preparation for the update come 5.15 and further. Dataminers unearthed all of the spells for the update and one of them looks like the Life 3/Reraise spell icon from FFVI. It'd be hilarious if you can use self-harm spells, reraise back to back without the debuff.
If anyone doesn't mind getting spoiled, here's the link to the new spells: https://imgur.com/a/MksY58N
That link you posted for the new spells on imgur doesn'twork. Or maybe i don't understand it but it's there like a list or something?
Sorry if I wasn't being clear, yeah, it's a list of the spell icons for BLU when 5.1.5 releases. Since it's not out yet the names aren't given, but we can make safe and not-so-safe guesses. Magic Hammer and Lv5 Death are definitely in there.
If you're having problems with my link, I can give you another one for the reddit where there was a discussion about the spells. https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ills/?sort=new
Ehm why Square Enix? That was bit of fun with Blue Mage.... Why take away everything that is little bit funny....
Army of BLUs cheesing content with self-destruct.
Not being able to cheese everything with final sting has bade blu challenges actually interesting.
But this is pretty old I would hope people have realized this by now.
You can still cheese fights outside of Carnivale. It just requires more strategy. I mean, you can basically clear Thornmarch EX in 2 minutes with 6 Self-Destructs and a Moon Flute opener if you time it right.
Personally, it should be removed outside of combat
everyone called it return 2 because that's exactly how useful self destruct was
You can force the game to remove the debuff. Did this with friends the other night trying to do a jump puzzle. We'd self destruct if we failed a jump, get raised back up to where we were before, then keep trying... but to get rid of the debuff, change jobs, queue into anything, then leave. Change back to blue mage, and your brush with death debuff is still gone.
Sure it's a lot of steps, but it's faster than waiting 10 minutes for it to go away on its own.
If GMs see that, they might pass it on to SE and get it patched where Brush with Death stays regardless.
It's a lot of hoops to jump through to remove a debuff that also involves changing jobs and going into other content. Seems that the intent of the debuff was to keep people from blowing themselves up back to back in fights or cheesing the masked carnival by self destructing on every floor. Making it so you can't blow yourself up in town sooner than 10 minutes is likely low on their priority list since what I'm referring to doesn't help if you wanted to use the skill multiple times in combat.
