Only if you buy retainers, but they didn't add more purchasable ones. As long as they are making $2 per retainer per month outta us, any incoming inventory space is going to be a long time coming or non existent.
Basically, they increased the price of the basic sub this expansion by $2 for anyone who crafts at all. I can't even imagine digging into ShB crafting with just 2 retainers.
Our inventory has a load of spots for key items. Does anyone ever actually fill all those slots? Can we just have some of those converted to regular slots?
I'd like to have more armory chest space instead. I can manage regular items, but I kind of need all that gear, and one slot for rings when every class/job uses two is difficult to deal with.
I've never understood the ridiculous "Look at all that Key Item space not getting used!" argument. Does nobody stop to think and realize that the number of Key Item slots you see depends entirely on how expanded your inventory settings are? As someone that sets it to normal, there really aren't all that many slots.
Plus, y'know, what was already said, about none of them actually being "items" so much as flags that the game recognizes you should be able to use the special thing or progress a quest or whatever.
To be fair, since ARR more and more gear has been able to be put into the Armoire, we've had the glamour chest added and recently expanded, the chocobo saddlebag added and the currency tab created. Coupled with 2 retainers with 175 slots each and our inventory/armoury chest, the normal player has over 1000 inventory slots which is enough really. Inventory space has been addressed a number of times but of course they're not going to straight up give each player a third retainer. Perhaps they could expand it by giving us another page so that the item cap is 200, 175 is a bit of an obscure number
I'd like to see primal totems and raid drops added to the currency tab personally
I'm still using only one retainer for extra storage, I've recently had to expand into it's 3rd block though. I only keep HQ mats there however, and sell all the NQ leftovers I gathered for a crafting session. Still trying to figure out how to move stuff to the second retainer when the first gets full. Will I have to move it into my bags first, then open the other retainer and move it all back?
I do keep NQ skins and other beast drops though, since getting HQ versions of those in any usable quantity is next to impossible,
I have enough at the moment, but I'd like to see them all integrated onto one interface. Give me the option to see ALL my storage in one big panel, and be able to freely drag one or more items at a time between them. Also, with this, you could have item search be a simple text box that will highlight the found items in the inventory window (like it does in WoW.) No 3-stage searching with mouseover final stage as it is now.
Not necesseraly more slots but some QoL would make a difference. Like Raid / Trial tokens could work as Beast Tribe currencies for instance. I had a retainer filled with those things until I decided to thorw all out. And I still have those Eureka crystals and tokens too!
A fishing tackle box sure would be welcome.
More things to be kept in the Armour Chest, the ways it works with the glamour plates is quite good.
Just these things would make things a bit easier.
Baffled that people will defend 2 retainers max after 3 expansions.
You as a crafter are perfectly fine having to go out and gather every time you need to make anything, then throw out the excess mats you gathered after, then go gather more when you need the same again, constantly pruning and not allowed to hold too many totems or raid currencies or "might be handy" items, while a "premium sub" user can basically store any useful mat they like in the game, keeping their army of retainers on constant ventures to stockpile stacks of each. They want to try the "I made that VI" achievement, make a glamour, gear an alt class, make a sub, make a friend or FC member an item, they can do it within the minute by simply grabbing the mats.
Up to SB you could enjoy this too, but now its become a premium sub privilage only you're defending it as great and happily off gathering things you threw out last week, waiting for timed nodes again and cursing at the mb for only selling stacks of 99 at high price.
We should have got a 3rd free retainer by now.
More space would be nice, but I think better use of the space we have would be better in the long run.
Like more things fitting in the armoire would free up more space in the dresser, which would in turn free up space in my armory and retainers.
Honestly everything from the mog station should be able to go into the armoire.

It's challenging but very possible to just use 2 and craft. As long as you keep all the crafts at close to the same level you really only need one set of five materials per xpac. For the odd recipes that require other parts, just buy/make those as needed.
Sure, if retainers were just for space, its whatever; however, they are more than that. Regardless of how someone utilizes them, the fact remains they are the only means of achieving more market board slots as well as procuring certain materials (might've changed, since some can come from fc exploration as well) and minions. Lulgilmaking/lulminions aside, needing to pay money for such a thing is a bit disrespectful given the age this game has on it.
Wish crafter benches had high end crafted versions that included craft mat storage.
I don't mind going and getting something that is old and that I am not holding. But timers for nodes below the current expansion is garbage. Strangely when you mention that in other threads they all say just "venture it". Isn't the whole point to have less retainers.
Also defending SE about inventory is a little questionable. Considering the limits of real world resources. They can't give us all a million inventory slots. Yet they not only add new mats every expansion also a lot of patches. Plus they make the new mats require mats from other expansions. Peoples arguments would sound a lot better if everyone knew when 5.0 hit the 4.X stuff could go to the vendor and so on and so on.
Much cheaper just to have alt account and have 8 characters with 2 retainers each on it than paying for extra retainers. If you trade back and forth could have total of 32 retainers with both accounts.
They are not going to add in game inventory space as long as we are buying extra retainers. Please do NOT add a bank with more inventory spots to be bought. There's too much "buy extra" stuff as there is, especially when paying a sub.
how am I defending square, I just said you don't need more than 2 retainers to be a crafter, you just need to know what each item is used for and if they are worth keeping and when they increased the item carry to 999 for one slot, they greatly increased the inventory because you used to need multiple slots for all items which are used often.
Don't add space, just make it all more accessible. All existing storage locations would be moved to the bank, and the choco saddlebag would also be mirrored into the bank. If you bought extra retainers for more material collection, then extra slots would be added to the bank as well.
ALL storage space needs to be available in one window, not the multiple locations we have now, with all the hassles of moving stuff between them.
