I hear about people hoping for the Puppeteer, Beast Master, and Geomancer all the time. I'm personally hoping for the Onion Knight, but I'm curious to know what people think the class we're least likely to see is. At first, I thought it was the Onion Knight, but then I realized there's one even better: Mime.
I can't even begin to fathom how they would implement the Mime into an MMORPG and still retain its identity. Onion Knight is a close second, as their whole gimmick is being weak until max level, at which point they become the strongest class in the game. That sounds like a balancing nightmare, unless SE makes it a limited job.

Onion Knight could be a Limited Job like Blue Mage, just rather than learning spells from monsters, you learn skill by leveling all the other Jobs in the game.
Mime, similarly, could be a Limited Job. Depends how they're going to work future ones (whether they have the same learning gimmick or not), but all it needs is a "Copy" skill that you use on party members to copy their last skill. I do doubt they'd ever bother with that though, Limited Jobs are meant to be fairly OP and non-party focused, if Masked Carnival is anything to go off, not sure how a Mime version of that would work... Hope we see Gogo some day in XIV though...
Honestly any Job could simply be a Limited Job at this point, but I'd have to say Beserker is probably the least likely to ever be added. A Job which sole function was that it automatically attacked and did nothing else? Yeah that wont even be considered for a MMO, even if it could technically be a workable Limited Job... Much more likely they just rolled it into Warrior at this point. Similar deal with something like Time Mage, time magic would be hard (though not impossible) to implement in a MMO, and once upon a time I'd say Astrologian had a few core Time Mage aspects, but those were gutted recently... -

At any rate, I know the limited job route is possible for all classes, but I was wondering how they would add these classes into normal content. I'm unfamiliar with classes from prior versions of Final Fantasy but I think the least likely job would be another healer. I just can't see how you could fit a new one in.

All healers are casters and the role gear and role skills are catered to caster jobs. A non caster healer will not happen. And as a DD it would be too similar to Machinist. -

Beastmaster and Puppetmaster also I would say are highly unlikely considering what a flop Blue Mage has been, and they explicitly stated those two jobs as contenders for additional limited jobs for this game. Also they're not very iconic to the series. I only know of Beastmaster being a job in FFV MAYBE Realm if you get her False Mustache relic and have never played a Final Fantasy title with Puppetmaster... unless you really stretch it to consider Lulu one.
Conversely to a previous comment, I do think that we can have Chemist as it's a healing job that won't be immediately like the other three. Though just how they'd implement it is anyone's guess, especially with TP gone. Before I had suspected that would be one of the ways it would be different from the others, using TP instead of MP. -

So because I'm bored, I'm gonna break down most of the jobs I've seen so far in this thread:
Onion Knight....I could honestly see this as a Limited Job designed around a "make your own job" theme that could be an interesting PvP thing.
Mime, when you think about it as a baseline concept, is just Blue Mage without anything that makes Blue Mage fun and/or interesting. If you do not find Blue Mage fun and/or interesting, also yes.
Berserker we already have. It's called Warrior.
Necromancer, in terms of game lore, is oddly just a Black Mage on steroids. While it's possible to have something like a Necromancer in FFXIV, it likely wouldn't look like what we would consider to fit a western description of one, spawning something like ghosts or spirits out of the nether rather than corpses out of the ground due to both censorship concerns and the aforementioned game lore. It might even be renamed to something like Reaper or Druid--I mean seriously, have you seen the stuff RL druids did in the past? Holy crap.
Arithmetician we sorta have in the form of Scholar and the base class Arcanist to a degree. Unfortunately, devs learned the hard way during ARR via the original Lustrate ability that anything percentage-based is actually quite terrible to implement, being incredible at the start and then staggeringly subpar as gear levels go up.
Viking, surprisingly enough, can still be implemented. In addition to Viking being a bit like Warrior, it also came with some Rogue-like abilities along with Tsunami and an assortment of Thunder spells. If Viking were to instead focus more toward the magical aspect rather than being the usual brute with spells like how Dark Knight is now, then it could definitely happen in the game.
Chemist may not be released as the salve-maker throwing vials at people's faces, but it'll happen. As long as people won't shut up about it, Chemist will happen via some sort of variant (hopefully as something like Cannoneer from FFTA2).
Plumber....maybe the reconstruction of Ishgard will finally bring in some much-needed toilets. Maybe it'll involve educating the nobles not to try and flush their lowborn.
Time Mage is a curious possibility now that Astrologian has been stripped of most of its time-based abilities. It also wouldn't be the first Square-Enix game to have both Time Mage and Astrologian in the same game.
Geomancer, Beastmaster and Puppetmaster I think could happen, but not like anything we've seen before out of those jobs. They would also join the ranks of Blue Mage and Eureka among the list of reasons why diehard FFXI fans need to stop suggesting things for this game because for the love of the Twelve, this is not Vana'diel and please stop ruining this game because IT'S NOT YOUR PRECIOUS CHILDHOOD GAME DEREN--er, whoops.... -

Anything pet-related (Beastmaster/Puppetmaster) seems wholly unlikely outside of them doubling down on the concept of limited jobs despite the big backlash.
This would likely extend to Necromancer, not helped by the fact that a lot of quests and sidequests that deal with Necromancy and the like are either highlighted with disdain, tragedy, or both. Its almost like their universal "kids, don't do drugs" message peppered throughout the game.
Timemage seemed to have been reimagined into Astrologian with a dash of Gambler mixed in. Unfortunately they have cut/changed a couple of abilities that had a space/time theme, so the similarities between them are sparser. However FFXIV just doesn't seem to be fit for a job that's been known to: really only work in turn-based situations (and not concerned about "balance" when it's not), be mostly represented as pure support, its identity is mostly defined by 2-3 spells (which were given to other jobs in games like XI) and such spell effects are present in one form or another in XIV already. On their own, a lot of these aspects don't automatically disqualify the job from happening, but together they don't present a positive outlook. -

As far as i can see the only game with Necromancer in the final fantasy series has not been marketed to China at all, FFXIV does though, remember that outfit that went up on the mogstation that caused a little controversy and SE had to make an apology and rename it on the Chinese/Korean mogstation.
Besides everything Necromancer in the series is just a different Blue Mage except rather than using the skill the Necromancer has to be the one to kill it, so either a completely different feel to how the job has been in the past ala red mage or be made a limited job, pick your poison. -
