I can't drive fifty-five...

Some LS mates and I were talking about how cool it would be if chocobos got increased movement speed while on roads. It would really speed up travel and would make sense to even have roads.

As soon as the chocobo left the road they could lose the speed buff, since it is more difficult to run over harsh terrain than to run on the smooth roads.

Could be fun.

I can drive fifty-five.

I can even count to schfifty-five!

Especially since the roads are pretty clear of dangerous encounters anyway. It would just be one more thing to help out those people conserving their animae.

then you should trade in your Model A for something with more Chocopower. that way you can drive fifty five...

mmmm sounds interesting, could call the buff "Smooth riding" or something like that.

If they called it "Easy Rider" I'd name my chocobo Dennis Hopper!

Give me speed or at least give me some oil to help reduce the "clinking" of my Choco barding...

What happens when they go on grass... or grassy road ? o.o

And yes please can we turn off the clank of barding it drives me crazy.

ya, i recently bought the light armor and it is noisy. i can't imagine how loud the heavy armor will be.

I'm mainly talking about the roads marked on the map as roads. Seems like it wouldn't be hurting anything to give us increased movement on these. Maybe have a three second delay before it turns off, because it might be difficult to stay a winding road at higher speeds and it would be annoying if it shut off just because the road is bending and you stray off it a little.

I would rather have Choco feather's to speed you up that regen slowly like FF 13

I like the idea. The speed is not that bad right now, but a small buff or incentive for using roads sounds like fun.

I think this is a really great idea. Any excuse to increase choco-speed is great with me. I've always felt like my choco was running in quicksand, they just arn't that fast lol.

Mixed feelings. First, in any game I'm one to cut corners and stray from the roads to take the most direct path from A->B. So this feature would make me very sad. But at the same time, it wouldn't hurt anything, and I think I'd end up using it and even liking it. Beyond that, it really makes sense, and I'd like to have a reason to use roads. :]

My next question is, will this be on the terrain roads or the map's "roads?" They're not always the same.. D= (Then, SE could always fix this with 2.0. ;D) Trying to follow roads on the map could be difficult (especially in road-less areas), but if we based it on the terrain, there would be awkward gaps where the road texture randomly decide to end and pick back up half a mile later. >.>;

I thought I had read that turning off footsteps turned off the clinking. I don't know if that is accurate, nor do I feel like digging for the post, just something that came into my head as i read this. Someone who is online at the moment should test it!

Need to add a supercharger and some nitro to my chocobo, maybe gear up the final drive. 140mph ain't fast enough.

buff speed on path, do random "trap" for buff and debuff, and open chocobo race!

I want performance enhancing drugs to buy from the chocobo stables for seals or gil. Maybe craftable by alchemist?

I wanted to type this out as a joke but I'm starting to think it's a good idea.
