Do IRL vegan players eat non-vegan food in FF XIV?

I'm not vegan so I'm not sure how that would work. Would they even be able to level culinarian if they're vegan? I'm pretty sure you'd need to use some meat items in recipes for the quests at least. Would that pretty much lock vegans out of doing those quests? :confused:
