I don't understand why you can't get them if you join something in progress. This seems counterintuitive to me. You should encourage people to enable the join party in progress, not turn it off.

Some people in this game are extremely lazy and want to play as little as possible. Back when we didn't have a penalty for withdrawing from a queue tanks would just spam withdraw over and over for hours trying to fish for a mostly finished in-progress run that they could just jump into for a quick clear, which made it terrible for everyone else and took longer than joining and running the content themselves would have.
I think now people worry that a group will kick someone so their friend can join in-progress, or some other manipulation of the system. I don't know if that would actually happen enough to be worth preventing and it's difficult for me to comprehend people encouraging and assisting in their friends lazy good-for-nothing behavior.
It would be cool if we could just have nice things, but somebody will usually find a way to ruin it for everyone else. -

My only guess is the reason why was to stem the tide of vote kicking abuse, so a pre-made party can't just kick a random player to replace them with a friend to get free tomestones.

They should change it for frontlines where if join in progress still get them. One match we lost because whole match we had 18 out of 24 and no one ever joined in progress to fill the spots. another one had 5 out 8 in party and other teams was full. Did castrum run and had to leave because both healers dropped at the start and none ever joined in progress. They should reward ones tomes if they join in progress right at the start almost. If they use the vote kick to kick another for friend I would report them and have there accounts banned for false kicks.

No mitigation is completely proof, it's more how harsh you want the system to be and balance it out with the incentive people have to do it. In this case SE is just being smart, they eliminate the threat and thus save themselves the countless would be reports, and probably saving the "would be offenders" from themselves too. -

I joined a Frontline today that showed "0 minutes" when the queue popped. Even though the battle hadn't started yet, apparently someone had left after the party filled, flagging it as "in progress" and I got 0 tomes for completing it. Seems unnecessary.

When the Frontlines were first introduced you would often end up with one person failing to confirm in the 72 person group causing a failed queue and the duty finder reorganize pop again and the fail due to one person failing to confirm. This was changed so that the system would transfer everyone who had confirmed into the zone and then the system would fill the slots of those that failed to confirm with in-progress players.Quote:
