Thing is, the one you access while you're supposed to be on the magitek is already a teleport thing, so why not just make it that? Like what they did in Baelsar's Wall too (which was a change they made later on btw). It's inconsistent
There's only two lifts, and they both can be recalled at any time, as I recall.
The worst are the lifts in the The Aetherochemical Research Facility. When they are activated and the barriers go up, but you jump onto them, you can take the ride. However, my attacks are always "out of range" for the next 20-30 seconds, so I assume I am officially still at the top floor. That happened two times and the initial one where I was just wondering why my skills were all "X"-ed (range indicator).
So we have slow lifts and buggy lifts...
Good idea, except the reason they did that with Baelsar's wall is multiple things.
1. the lift would bug out pets. They'd just have no clue what to do and occasionally need to be re summoned.
2. it was already a map-change area and the lift didn't always come back right when someone was left off of it. Sometimes it took way too long.
3. This one I might be remembering incorrectly, but I remembering people getting clipped through the lift entirely and unable to move out to re-summon it. It would require people to use the return spell to stop the bug.
AFAIK the Praetorium suffers from none of these bugs because it's not a map transition, and that makes it a low priority when they're already changing the duty entirely.
Unfortunately, given how they haven't changed it in 6 years, i doubt they will now.
Anyone who's played FFXI would know SE has pretty much mastered the art of Hella Late QoL. I wouldn't rule it outQuote:

Oh ... you mean the two you have to get on in-game.
Here I was thinking about the two during Gaius's monologue(s), which logicially must go a good fraction of the way towards the center of the planet.
Aw come on, the dungeon is long and boring enough, we need to keep the lifts, the only thing that's still fun in the dungeon is making the lift leave without your friends.
You can bring them back any time if you miss them.
Pretty much zero point in that because if you miss the lift you might as well wait to be automatically pulled into the Gaius fight, cuz you ain't catching up.Quote:

You had a slow group then.
Very possible. I could have also just been quicker on the draw with that lift activation. It's not like it sets you back a full minute or anything.
Precisely why I found catching up to be a futile endeavor if you miss the lift. The doors and the arms aren't that much of a bottleneck, but waiting for the lift to come all the way back down and then go all the way back up again sure is.Quote:
Nah. Just that the arms are a bit of a bottleneck. Fairly easy to catch up. But. It's also the magitek phase. Not really like being one player down is gonna make things much slower.
Yeah unfortunately it's other people ruining something cool again. I've seen so many impatient ass people who won't wait two seconds for someone to get on the lift.
I like them, I actually really dislike teleports in middle of dungeons, such a lazy way to do map changes (why do we even need map changes in dungeons in the first place I dunno.) Walking into a line and disappearing feels stupid and immersion breaking.
